  • After arriving in Dambulla we rented a scooter and went to Polonarruwa.
Polonnaruwa is an ancient capital city in Sri Lanka. At the first site we visited we found a snake behind the information sign which was interesting. Beside the amazing ancient temples there were a lot of wildlife that like snakes, monkeys, lizards and even deer. This made the visit to this historical side even more beautiful.
There are also many temples and statues outside the park that you can visit without buying the ticket but inside the park you can find the important remainings of the city.
The entrance fee for the park is about $25 and there are guides outside the park that offer tours. These guides are not connected to the park so if you want a tour you need to negotiate about the price. If you are with a scooter you can drive inside the park which is very handy because the park huge.
Hope you enjoyed the video. If so, like, subscribe and share to help grow the channel.
    Thanks 🙏

As buddhists we don't pray like christians or hindu people. Those buddhist chantings you hear inside temples are sang by people to remind themselves of the qualities of buddha which they should follow as fellow buddhists. Buddha is no more. He became enlighted and taught his followers how to end this existence by following his noble path to nirvana

The Gal Vihara, and known originally as the Uttararama, is a rock temple of the Buddha situated in the ancient city Polonnaruwa, the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, now present-day Polonnaruwa, in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. It was fashioned in the 12th century by King Parakramabahu.

You cannot climb a buddhist stupa unless it's for repair or renovation. It's considered disrespectful since most of these ancient stupas contain relics and remains of lord buddha and his crew of monks who had became enlighted a long ago.

When I saw it from a distance I also thought it was a bit weird because I had never seen people on top of a stupa.

you shouldn't touch snakes, especially if you don't know them! Fortunately, this snake is not very poisonous. the snake can regurgitate his prey and that is a pitty for both the snake and the lizard. it is a flying snake, not very common.

What a nice starting scene for a video..the snake! You know why, it's a kind not often seen. It's called Sri Lanka Flying Snake (Chrysopelea taprobanica). It can 'fly' (actually, glide) from a tree to another. It's a tree snake, and where you found it was an unusual place for its habitat. Moreover, the venom characteristics of this species are said to be not well known scientifically. So, better let the snake handle its own business, I guess.

Welcome to Sri Lanka. ! 🤜🤛
Small advise. Don't ask old people about snakes.
We Asians respect old people, but they never say they don't know. 😅 ( specially, politics & snakes )
We are in a difficult time as a country. Sorry to say this but some hospitals are running out of medicine.
    Take care. !
