@@cws480. Those were the days, that's for sure. I'm 38, and watching turtles movie, feels like I'm 6 years old all over again. Time flies, I miss my childhood like crazy lol.
My dad took me to see this in the theater when it released... I'll never forget how much I absolutely loved it... And how pissed my dad was at the size of the line we had to wait in lol
It was a good way to temporarily lighten up the mood right after poor Raph got thrown through the window! That was until the tense battle royale which shortly followed, when April & the Turtles were in serious danger shorty afterwards!
The fact that my 8 and 10 year old daughters love this movie and ask for it often prove how well it holds up. New isn't always better. Old isn't always better. True quality stands the test of time.
Imagine christopher nolan making a new tmnt movie with no cgi, real costumes, a darker grittier version in the modern era heavily inspired by this movie. It's my dream.
Well they had more than enough foot soldiers to keep the three then still active Turtles busy, while that particular baddie could afford to just hand out axes to whoever needed one I'm guessing! L.O.L.!
The craziest thing about this movie was that no one had faith that it would be a hit. And then it became one of the most profitable movies of all time. It was very low budget and cost like ten million and made like 300 million. And the reason people loved it was because it was a risk so they just let it be. It was dark, it was true to the original source material and it worked. Then when the sequels came out they just lost faith completely and said "it has to be this and that and the other" and they made it campy and lame and it just fell further and further every time. They even stopped using Jim Henson for the puppetry thinking they could just do it cheaper and be okay because they had the audience... They should have just stuck to what worked and The Turtles franchise could have been fantastic.
The third movie was campy I agree, but the sequel, Secret of The Ooze, is my all time favorite movie. I really liked it, especially since it introduced Tokka and Rahzar.
Nunchucku are hard to use. That Foot Soldier was probably impressed someone wanted to challenge him, especially since he's the only one I noticed was using them.
I damn near lost it at: "C'mooon, how do you guys expect to beat me? :D " (twenty more mooks show up and they all move on him at once) " :o Good answer! Goood answer!"
I’m 37 years old and I still quote this movie regularly. “You can say that again chuck” “Bye guys gotta run” “Woah, who is the babe” “It’s a good thing these guys aren’t lumberjacks” “We could really use Ralph right about now”
I love this scene cuz it's one of the few ones where we actually get to see Mikey be smart. He's not just showing off, he's distracting the foot so Leo and Don can get into better positions.
At 5:50, I just love how you can see Tatsu in the background giving a nod of approval to the guys smashing Donatello's face into the piano keys like he was saying "Good job staying in tune with that melody."
Epic!! My childhood right here! I saw this in theatres when it was brand new!!

I remember seeing this in the movies with my dad eating a box of pop corn, recesse's pieces and a soda pop. I remember how crowded it was when the movie ended. We rode our bikes there because we lived 5 min walk down the road. Nothing will ever beat those times where people actually lived life and not brain rot away online
That's it man, it was all about that Raph fight on the rooftop for me. And Mikey making the little doggie noises when he's having his Nunchuku face-off always made me chuckle 😆😆😆
@@MaxRager80 She was cute but her performance was flat. Judith Hoag had the girl next door vibe and feistiness that made you fall for. Worked on me as a kid. Had a huge crush on her
As many people in the comments are stating, I also went and saw this in the theaters too. After myself, my oldest brother (who drove us to the movie), and my younger brother got settled in our seats; within a few seconds my oldest brother said "hey guys, let's move seats". "Why?", the two of us asked him. "Because someone took a shit on the ground right below us" Sure enough, even in the dark we could make out the silhouette of a log of dookie, and as you leaned your head down closer to look at it, your nostrils definitely got a whiff of it confirming that was indeed shit on the ground below. "Awww sick!!!" and other responses we naturally had, and promptly moved a few rows ahead of us. True story. And thankfully the only time I have ever had that experience. Whenever I see clips of the original Ninja Turtles movie I always think of logs of shit on movie theater floors.
I was 7 years old when I saw this at the cinema; THIS scene was electric! Absolutely magic. *Sigh*. Shame hollywood has lost it's way...we will never see movies like this EVER again!!!
Half of the movie plot comes directly from the original comics with some minor differences. In the comics it is Leo who gets beaten instead Raph and the farm in New Hampshire belongs to Casey's faily, not April's...The 2k3 series adapted this accurately
It's still mind blowing how fluid the fight scenes are. To move that smooth wearing the costumes showed just how good Henson studios was back then. This movie is one of the best comic book films ever made hands down.
I always liked "A fellow chucker!" Funny thing is this movie is based a lot on the original graphic novels except it was Leonardo that got jumped by the foot and not Raphael
I think thats because for the most part they were for people of all ages unlike the later ones that tend to be kid centric even though I was a kid when the originals were out.
3 ninjas took on a horde of ninjas coming to kill them after their brother was almost beat to death with the help of an outsider vigilante willing to lay his life on the line…
This is one of the first movies I remember seeing at my local movie theater when I was little. I was five and I loved it! That movie theater closed a few years ago. Avengers Endgame was the last movie I saw at that theater.
This is probably the best TMNT movie that I’ve ever seen in my life. I wonder what it would be like if they had Leonardo being ambushed by the foot clan instead of Raphael as it was originally told in probably the comic books and the 2003 TMNT cartoon in the episode the shredder strikes again. That would be very interesting indeed.
I gotta admit I love the trust and camaraderie between April, Casey, and the turtles. in reality in this time period, it seems like everybody is out to screw, betray, and manipulate everyone else. I barely see trust anywhere. I guess that's why movies like this are so appealing
I made a pair of nunchakus because of this movie when i was a kid. Went on to study martials arts, But still haven't finger out how to spin the chakus on my finger tips.

This movie was way better than it had any right to be. I can't believe how well it held up

Yeah, and that creepy synthesizer made this epic scene all the more chilling, as was the case with movies, and TV shows from back then too!
