Nice time had by all! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
It’s nice to see all the wonderful families and happy people out without restraints. Hillbillies know how to have fun 🤩
I agree was so nice to see a child just smiling and having fun no worries or concerns to be had. Just innocence and good fun for little Kennedy, to have a great day. She has great choices to get the candied apple first... lol
Thanks for sharing . All three of you look as though you had a good day out !
Hillbillies on parade, sounds like a good day sitting on the porch... LOL Sounds fun thanks for sharing.
It MAY be a play on words from the 90s rock song “bulls on parade”? 🧐
Almost heaven, next best thing to being there, its fun watching everybody having fun!!!
It is such a beautiful sight to see Hillbilly Days back in action after missing out the past 2 years. It is truely an institution in Pikeville and its purpose and service is absolutely amazing to the folks of the Shriners Children's Hospital. Thank you for another wonderful video!
Thank you Walrus, we agree
Looks like fun!! Little Kennedy is a doll. I am sure Grandma Linda spoils her rotten!! Another great video. Thanks Melody and Shane.
Kennedy is a real joy to us all, she is something else, thank you!
My husband was born in Pikeville! He has mentioned taking me to the Hillbilly Days, 😊
I think you'd have a lot of fun there
We really enjoyed it!
Great Fun, waving 👋 from VA
Looks like a real hoot! The only parade where a rusted out '67 Dodge pick up can still be invited. Wish I had been there!
My job used to take me into Williamson and into Belfry on the Kentucky side of the river. I never made it to Pikeville but been telling my wife for 10-12 years I'd like to go to this. Maybe next year!lol Thanks for a glimpse guys!
Looks like a nice festival. Great to see people are getting back out an starting to enjoy life again.
😂😂😂 nah buddy thats just you. No one with a brain let "Covid" stop them from getting out. You've been hoodwinked bottom line
It looked like a good time was had by all, especially Kennedy, she is growing up. I'm glad she got to come along and have some fun.
Yes, shes growing up...and she had a blast
I was born in the largest city in New Jersey and currently live in the largest city in Florida. But my heart in in West Virginia home of my dad's family. I'm a hillbilly born out of place. I wish my dad had moved us to West Virginia instead.
C'mon! We'd be glad to have you!
@@bradlane3662 I wish I could. When I was working I would go there every other year but now no car or the money to do so. I just watch West Virginia videos.
@@danalynch8889 Awe! My heart is with you! I am native to WV. Left a couple times but I'm truly a mountaineer and couldn't stay away. I struggle to deal with the stereotyping and don't know why any kind still exists. But you won't find better people anywhere! Please come when you can!
These are my kind of people. I would love to be there with y'all
maybe next year
Me, too!
Awsome as always!! Thanks for another great vid guys
This was a good change of pace, especially with young Kennedy! So are you sitting down Shane, my nickname for you is "The Volunteer"!I did want to do you Justice, but in a way I took the easy way out!I'm from Tennessee and that's the state motto, there's a lot to it and I'm proud of it!Count your fingers after shaking so many Kentucky boys hands!Melody looked beautiful in her element! My second nickname was "Captian' but we southern boys have kinda wore that out!I would send some money , but that's like my Church tithes,I'm working on an invention to cover that and you all!
Good to see my hometown
great little city
Hillbilly parade was fun. I like the carnival too.
That looked fun! Thanks for bringing us along Melody and Shane.
It was great! Thanks for coming along with us on the video
Nice to see my hometown of Ashland represented
Went into Ashland many times when I lived in Huntington.
I noticed Ashland in the parade too
Ashland, KY. Home of the Judds!
When I was growing up you could buy moonshine in the high school gym (before it was legal) during Hillbillies days. I would see folks coming out with paper bags. I love Hillbillies days, thanks for the memories!
Now that would be fun
Man alive! If I knew you guys was in Pikeville I would have tried to meet you. From Letcher county but live in Pikeville now.
We said we should have thought to tell everybody beforehand! Maybe next time we can so we can meet some of you guys! - Melody
We should have gone. We were on vacation staying in Paintsville but drove to the Breaks interstate park on the first day of Hillbilly Days. On the way back I wanted to check out Dils cemetery but Hillbilly days was just starting. Next visit I hope. But our vist to Paintsville will stay with us forever. All I can say is thank you to all the folks at the Van Lear Historical Society for a beautiful day.
That’s fantastic! So glad y’all had a great trip! There’s so much to do on a trip like that; you can never seem to get it all in one go! - Melody
Awesome video thanks for sharing. You guys looked like you were having fun Stay well and safe.
Yes we were, thank you so much!
Kennedy look's so happy especially when She is with her Daddy there.
Proud of being a hillbilly, born & raised. Loved this kind of family gathering! I really miss going to these fun events so I'm glad y'all take us along! Kennedy is really growing too fast! Y'all stay safe and blessed!
Thanks so much, Debbie!
Excellent ☮️
Love it! Being from a little town in southeast Missouri, I’m a proud redneck😂
Looks like a lot of fun
Melody, love the hat 👒 💙 and Shane like a kid in a candy store 😍. I had to get a snack after hearing of candied apples and looking at all the food advertised 😋😆
that candied apple was a mess...but so delicious lol
The food was great! And thank you, Sandy! It did good to keep the sun off my face! - Melody
that little girl is not so little anymore!😮 she beautiful!! I bet she ur princess 👸
Thanks so much, shes the best
Now that was a parade !!
Looked so nice, I googled it. Hometown of Dwight Yoakam!
Yes ma'am
Great video Folks! Did you have some southern fried chicken? Mmmmm! The best! Thanks for that cool parade video!
No chicken! I think we filled up on sweets too much haha! We loved the parade so we’re glad you enjoyed it too! - Melody
I expected to see riding lawn mowers in the parade ! lol We have whats called Cornucopia days here where i live.
I've never been to Hillbilly days in Pikeville but, I've been to several apple days in Paintsville and the sorghum festival in West Liberty !!!
we'd love to check those festivals out someday
Thanks for your nonjudgmental treatment of Hillbilly Days. All too often people use it to play into the stereotype. And yes you’re Hillbillies because you treated the people respectfully.
Real hillbillies don't give a fuck about stereotypes or any of this new age bullshit that's ruined the world
My husband is from Pikeville. He's wishing we had gone. But it's so far for us to drive. We live in Nashville
Really cool thank y’all for sharing. Corn 🌽 look yummy yummy delicious 🌽🌽🌽🌽
That looked like a fun day y'all. Thanks for letting us tag along. And, Melody that corn made my mouth water. Yum. It looked so good and juicy. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Watching good job like watching
It is nice to see people having a wonderful time again. Of course, we had Thunder Over Louisville on April 23rd. It is my understanding that thousands and thousands of people attended. It is just nice to feel normal again. Just sounds like a great time Shane and Melody. Glad you had a great, great time!! Thank you for the video!
Yes! So glad to have some normalcy again! Thanks for watching! - Melody
What a great video! I will definitely have to check that event out. I especially liked the Mountain Ears and the Hillbilly Gift Shop. You folks picked an absolutely perfect day to go. Thanks for the posting of this video.
Looks like fun...now I'm hungry for some corn. See how ya are! LOL
I’ve wanted more ever since! Lol - Melody
Really loved this video
thank ya, Norma
That was awesome! Looks like a great time ! I know y'all enjoyed it ! Thanks and God bless...🙏❤
Glad you enjoyed it, God bless you too
It looks like everyone had a wonderful time! Melody made me hungry for corn on the cob. Guess I'll have to wait until August, for the local crop.
That corn on the cob was amazing
@@realappalachia It looked absolutely delicious.
Awesome fun. You guys look great. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, Kevin
Sure glad after a two year lockdown people are getting back together with family and friends. I went to this years ago and I felt like I was at a mini Pearl convention all the lady’s were wearing hats!!!
Y’all are great keep up the good work!!!!!! Are y’all training up a little helper for melody??!!
It certainly is great feeling a little back to normal! I keep telling Shane that Kennedy will take over for us one day! She loves adventure and has so much personality! - Melody
Woooohooo! I had a lot of friends there from WV. Everyone had a great time. Thanks for the video. Been there many times.
This reminded me off a typical fair that happens where I am from! Down to earth people! Family people! Modern HILLBILLIES! Thanks for the video! You know what would be cool! A real live barn dance! Even a country dance hall, or smokey ole pool room! Lets see those southern boys!😉🤠🥰
Oh man that dance idea is gold
Hot-diggity dawg! 😁 👍
This parade looks like something out of Mad Max
It looks like ya'all had a nice time especially the wee one. It was a pretty and warm spring day. It's good to see events like this festival taking place again. Good to get past the 'rona. Take care ya'all.
Yes, it is good to feel normal again
Wow that looks fun! Can't wait for our carnivals to begin ❣️
Melody talks more hillbilly than Shane does love you guy’s
Thank ya Ben
Glad you see you in the home town. HBD was nice this year, I think the lower number of vendors helped keep the paths not as clogged
I thought it felt like there were less vendors, glad you confirmed that
I had a great time a few years ago at this festival, so much so that I went back the next year. It's too far from where I live now, but seeing your video brings back great memories.
Yes, it is such a great atmosphere
Love those plaid shorts Shane
ha, thank ya - they suited me bc I usually spill something on me that they can help cover up
I'm from Pikeville . But it be 22 year.I have not been back.but I'm a hillbilly
Awesome parade 😺
I want a deep fried cheeseburger!
In case anyone is interested Saturday the 30th Casar,NC city yard sale. May 13-14 Bigfoot Festival Marion,NC
Kennedy is a little cutie. Looks like she had a fantastic time. "Mountain Ears" --- there's just no other name that would work for a corn on the cob tent at Hillbilly Days, is there? Thanks for taking us along on a beautiful spring day!
Glad you enjoyed it, yes, Kennedy is a little pistol and that corn was amazing
Oh, what a great parade. Beautiful people, cars, Kennedy, no confederate flags, Melody with that kool hat and making me hungry with the ear of corn. I love parades that throw out candy. Just another easy going relaxing video from you both. When is this parade?
It just finished up. 4/20-4/23
it happens every April and always in Pikeville, it is a great event for the family
How is the parking during the Hillbilly Days?
I was told that it is a disaster - no street parking, ONLY paid parking, and 'you should park at the High School and take the shuttle'.
But they don't tell you when the shuttle starts running and when it stops running, and how often it runs.
Someone told me "if you take the shuttle, you need to walk 1/2 mile to get to the event".
No Uber, no Lyft, no taxi service.
This is what they told me...anyone know different?
it can be a little rough but not totally overwhelming. I have always been able to find parking in a shopping center and walk it and it might have been about 1/2 mile so i would be surprised if a shuttle was that far.
Have you guys ever been to beattvile,ky. Home of the Wooley worm festival,👍
No, not been there yet. What county is it in?
@@realappalachia hey guys, beattvile is in Lee county,ky. up and down hills and hollers, lots of curves, like a roller coaster 👍
@@stevehannah5712 we need to check that area out
that was a tad bit different
Hey Melody, did you go to hurley high school?
I went to Honaker, actually! - Melody
Did anyone recognize you guys?
We didn’t but we knew of a few people there and didn’t even see each other. It was so crowded! Lol
I was so hoping Covid put an end to that overpriced bullshit in downtown pikeville I absolutely hate hillbilly days…thank Christ it doesn’t last long.

Why does everyone have to be Labeled. Because of the way you live. Stereotypes. FNN.
So, a little statement to think about. The term Hillbilly comes from William from the hills! The term hillbilly used in the Ted Lasso series is what the English use to insult American's. (Ted Lasso and Coach Beard are not Hillbilly's they are Plowboy's or Dirt farmers.) The English should understand that in 1789 there were these papers signed by Tom, Ben, George, and Alexander. Most of the Revolutionary War warrants were for Land in the Western part of the Virgina Territory. That land was Called (Cain Tucky) Kentucky. So, the hillbilly's are the soldiers and Heirs to the Land that fought and won the Revolution to start this great country. More information can be found on sos.ky.gov/land/military/revwar/.
