45:12 Ah yes, there’s nothing better than watching a scene from a movie where a woman cusses out a movie production team for making bad movies… on a PBS Kids DVD player.
Kids, if you want a DVD player, dont ask your parents for this. Just get a cheap Sylvania or something second hand that'll plug to the TV, it'll work far better
Those symbols on the screen of the player when it’s playing a DVD gives me so much nostalgia, my Thomson DVD player uses those exact symbols and writing
This has the old PBS Kids logo before they change it to the current one that is used. Also this is running Android since the virtual home buttons are Android related.
This reminds me of those Disney TVs they used to sell. You know, the pink ones with the Disney logo on them. I’m not even so sure Disney even made those - they probably had some company like Magnavox or Philips manufacture them, and then Disney just slapped their logo on them.
Those types of products are usually collaborations between both companies. In Disney's case, I imagine they did have a hand in the design of the TVs, at least in concept. Though there has definitely been times where one company has no input and just licenses out their name and branding for a product or two
@@SparkzEnt Yeah, just like with those Sega Genesis reproduction consoles from a few years ago. Sega was responsible for the concept, but they left the actual manufacturing to a third-party company called AtGames.
@@SparkzEnt Yeah, they suck almost as much as that bootleg NES clone I bought at a flea market which stopped working after a few days. It claimed to have 76,000 games but that was really just a fabrication - it was the same couple dozen games repeated hundreds of times.
Bro those PBS kids tablets are the equivalent of giving your kid some kind of note 7 because I've seen so many of them with swollen batteries ready to become a fire hazard
Imagine playing Android games like Honkai: Star Rail, Call of Duty and GTA on this thing, heck since it's pwered by Android, you can still get emulators.on that device
Over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record over to record 😂
I actually remember seeing these pbs kids tablet dvd players at walmart I was shocked to see pbs kids making these as late as 2018 But it does make sense in hindsight since much like nickelodeon and cartoon network Pbs kids has created some classics (and some not so hot) over the years Perhaps they wanted their brand to rival other childrens networks It honestly surreal seeing a pbs kids branded dvd player though but hey its for the novelty I will say, the framerate in that player is just as archaic as the framerate on video now and juice box The player is just good for the novelty honestly It is kind of funny how a childrens marketed dvd player can play r rated films on dvd and has internet and youtube
3:13 imagine it's late at night and you don't want to go to bed so you turn it on and this blasts on full volume, waking your parents up and then being yelled at for not going to sleep Not american but just found it funny
When I was a teen I had one of those just not a PBS kids one. It was one of those that folds up then pop the disc in and you go. The sound was good on it and picture was good. That was around 2007.
Well, yes that DVD player looks completely off that’s all. I think it’s better for me to save more money than buy that crap. Plus, I think my iPad is way better than a portable DVD player because I have a Movies Anywhere app!
Kinda weird and sad for the DVD player mode for not being able to show the clips properly when playing back the legal DVD releases, because it’s based on a SoC that’s actually the greatest one ever made (Mediatek 1389-series)…and maybe the whole tablet/DVD combo runs on an MT chipset, am I wrong about that? And also by the design you can tell that’s a portable DVD player because of the speaker grills on the front, and tablets usually have speakers located on the back or on the sides.
Good thing I never owned it. I would have been annoyed. Imagine a kid owning this and it crashed and then they asked their parents that it crashed and won’t turn off. I had a tablet crash on me and I couldn’t turn it off. I gave it to my mum and she held the power button for 10 seconds and it turned off. This was back when I was probably 9 or 7 years old. But then it broke completely so I no longer have it anymore
After doing research on this dvd player my best guess is that this player came out in 2021 which if that was the case it’s pretty sad that it has all this glitches and the games and the WiFi feature does not work well and I’m also wondering what kids nowadays use dvds
Wow, this is something that you don't see everyday... I find interesting the combination between a device with Android and a DVD player. It's a shame that the DVD player and the games that are already installed on the tablet sucks.
Oh man, since when did those folks at PBS Kids? make a good old DVD player PBS Distribution and The Public Broadcasting Service is an American organization. 😂
My cheap Fire 7 can run the PBS kids app with much greater performance than this, and those tablets are already like the lowest quality you'd be willing to spend money to purchase. The fact that they have IPS displays just makes them barely pass my usability requirements.
The games on that dvd player are slow as molasses just like internet in the 90s do you know about the Dell Nickelodeon computer I thought it looked pretty cool
The fact it can play adult movies without any warnings or blocking software is questionable considering this is meant to be for kids.
45:12 Ah yes, there’s nothing better than watching a scene from a movie where a woman cusses out a movie production team for making bad movies… on a PBS Kids DVD player.
This has aged very well...
Lol
Wdym it aged well

Or maybe an entry level Blu-Ray player like the Sony S1700, but I personally think that DVDs look better when playing them on a REAL DVD player.
My old Sylvania DVD player didn't even last TWO years before effing croaking.
@@ThatOneGuy-s8r oof.
I remember having a Sylvania portable DVD player YEARS ago, so seeing the name again took me back lol
@@SawyerIqueI got a Craig DVD player for free once. It was free because the battery was swollen to the point to where you can play extreme hot potato

3:13 This actually made me jump.
Me too
Excuse me, but I must say that the volume of your PBS KIDS DVD player logo was quite startling when I heard it at midnight.
Everyone gangsta until P B S K I D S

@@ArtieArchivesWell it seems it worked for them if they're still making these things
Me three
Hmm. It's difficult to tell about the video frame in this DVD kids player. It might be almost like 20fps. But hard to tell.
The name of the movie that is playing on the PBS Kids DVD player is The Fugitive, a movie with Harrison Ford
“Mom, can we get a tablet??”
“We have a tablet at home.”
The tablet at home:
That’s what PBS Kids made for children..
A CHEAP TABLET.
This has the old PBS Kids logo before they change it to the current one that is used. Also this is running Android since the virtual home buttons are Android related.
4:42 yeah, but you can see the current PBS Socal logo next to the old Kids logo. So that means this bad boy is not too much old…
now this makes me wanna see the fisher price one out of curiosity in the forsaken future lol
(yes, a fisher price dvd player actually exists)

I think the PBS Kids tablet and DVD player was 6 years old I guessing. Because it lagging in the DVD Player on the tablet but is pretty weird 🤔

I think that PBS just licensed the name to some random Chinese OEMs.

I wonder if this dvd player can run doom.....
Well it runs android so you could get an apk of it

Miss your content man. Welcome back!
I was waiting for that ending the entire time and then it happened.
This is...really interesting. I never even knew this existed, such a strange product for PBS to make.
And with the DVD part, shouldn't it have like restrictions on it so you're unable to play PG-13/R rated discs on it?
Qubo should've had a DVD player like this
That would’ve been rad
Ok but can it run doom tho?

Do you watch your bootleg DVDs to the end despite the shitty quality?
Imagine if Nick Jr. or Disney Junior made DVD players?
It only has PBS KIDS programs on that device.
The thing is, the outdated software (Android Nougat) and capacity/position of the DVD player is probably the cause of its lackage of quality
20 frames per second because pbs cartoons moves with 20 frames some cartoons and movie dvd moves like it

It came out between 2017-2018, not 2021 as the old PBS Kids logo by then was being phased out and by 2017, the 24/7 channel had launched.
Enjoyed the video. The DVD player doesn't even try to hide the fact that it's Android
