What I really like about this video presentation is the over-view. So many videos are trying way too hard to make it appear like the real thing, lots of closeups and endless cars going by a single focal point. While that is fine to demonstrate the modeling, it does little for those of us still planning. I will certainly visit this layout often, many good ideas here, thanks.
+charlize841 Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the comments. Be sure to look at my website: www.sites.google.com/site/willowcreekrr/home I've recently updated pics in the Highland Loop (Highland Loop Trestle) and Lookout Pass (Shombord Peak) pages to get rid of lots of the single rock formations that I created initially and never liked. Much improved scenery, in my opinion.
Thanks for your feedback and the kind words. After 10 years now, the Willow Creek continues to be a really enjoyable model railroad. Glad you're enjoying the videos. High greens!
Glad you enjoyed the "introductory" video to the Willow Creek. Be sure to check out the various operations videos if you'd like to see just how much fun the layout is to operate. Thanks for the feedback; much appreciated!
Glad you enjoyed the subdivision. Be sure to check out the "Willow Creek: Layout Tour 2021" video to see the most current scenery and the track changes that have occurred since the video you saw was shot. Thanks for visiting the Willow Creek!
Thanks for your feedback. I hope that you enjoy the other operations videos now that you've seen the overview ... sort of a teaser, if you will. Enjoy!
Very neat! I just discovered your channel and I find it appealing for several reasons. First, it looks like a well-built model railroad designed for some fun. Second, it has a Union Pacific theme! I am a UP modeler/historian/railfan so all the nice Armour Yellow is pleasing to the eye :-)Lastly, you appear to have an emphasis on operation. I am a fair prototype modeler, but I need to learn more about operating my models in trains. Keep up the nice work and I'll keep on watching.
Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. Albeit a freelanced layout, it is indeed fun to see the Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Grey livery winding through the subdivision. The Willow Creek is both a display layout and an operating layout, so the best of both worlds. Enjoy the collection of operations videos!
You stated you are a historian. I am researching UP’s Cheyenne turntable, roundhouse, buildings, and yards for an HO layout. Any aerials, track plans, diagrams you might have would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.
Well produced, cutting out redundancy in switch moves, great camera work and finely detailed! Good prototype speeds, too. I subscribed. Also, no dead scenes in video: something's always moving.
I till love watching your layout ...its very nice and if I make some longer Loops on the end and or double track the line going up then it would be very nice ...you sure did an awesome job sure would love to come and do an op session with you
Just a consideration- we have car ferry operation and keep float balanced by no more than 1 car. We take of one from one side, then 2 from other side, then 2 from 1st side and then get last car. Load in opposite order. Just another way to have fun.
Thanks for the feedback. Charlize841 hit on a number of the things that I try to avoid in my videos. Glad to hear that the efforts appear to be working! Thanks, again.
A snow shed is used in mountainous areas such as in the Sierras (California) and the Cascade Mtns (Washington) to protect track from snow slides (avalanches) in areas where they are prevalent. The idea is to route the snow slide over the tracks and off the far side of the mountain. These sheds can also help in areas prone to rock slides during the summer months, again directing the slide over the top of the tracks. Without such sheds, the snow/rock slides would wipe out the tracks. Modern sheds are typically built of concrete and steel; the shed on the Willow Creek is from the 1950s when they were built out of heavy timbers. Thanks for the question!
Only complaint is the over use of similar sized/shaped/colored/molded/placed/added-on rock formations. Could loose 70% of them. All else is top notch. Love MRRs with lots of Ops. Too many just run in circles on main line and little else. This layout is very realistic, seeing trains doing real jobs.
Mark Harris Good eye ... and I totally concur. "Enhancement" of several of the rock areas is on my "to do" list. And thanks for your comments regarding ops. When the layout was being planned, one of my top criteria was to have trains go somewhere and not just run in circles. Big difference. Thanks, again.

Everything a model railroad should be ...nicely scenicked and well thought out ops. Looks like fun! Your video is very well done.
