Great video. Noticed the Pickens Railroad boxcar in the yard. Pickens is only 7-8 miles away and was a terminus of the Pickens Doodle (there was no "Y" or turntable on either end to turn an engine, so when the train came to Easley to interchange (with the Southern RR back then), they had to back up to Pickens; just like a Doddle Bug. . Now the tracks are up, paved over and locals enjoy a nice walking and bike path.

I really like how you have the passenger station with two sidings and the main track going behind it. I may have to do something like this on my next o scale layout. You have a really nice layout, thanks for the videos!
Yes, having 3 tracks to get a train through Bucky's Crossing has been very beneficial during op sessions. Gives the yardmaster and the engineers a lot of flexibility, especially when things get really busy in town. Glad you're enjoying the videos and thanks for the kind feedback! High greens!
A wonderful video all the way through in every aspect clearly showing how an op session is done successfully. Beautiful layout, well narrated and lots going on. Our train club (located in an old railway station next to the cruise ship terminal) is inspired to include a port such as this in our layout. We will start building it now. Greetings to the Netherlands! An excellent question. The yard at Bucky's Crossing doesn't have sufficient space to properly classify cars and store them thereafter, so all cars coming off the car float (except those showing a destination for one of the industries in Bucky's Crossing) are sent to Waverly for classification. Trains are then built in Waverly to take the cars to their final destinations. The yardmaster at Bucky's Crossing has plenty to do without worrying about classifying cars, so this approach keeps things flowing from an operational perspective. Hope that answers your question. Question, how are your uncoupling moves done? DCC? I'm wanting to do that as well if that is correct! Thank you!
Ah, the uncoupling! Magic, sort of. All couplers are Kadee or compatible. Many times, I simply set the couplers for "delayed coupling/uncoupling" before the video shot begins. Then I can simply stop the train and reverse directions, and the cars uncouple. In other shots, I physically uncouple the cars while the video is running, but then edit that part of the video out when I create the final scene that you get to see. In our real op sessions, we use the uncoupling sticks that you see in the video, in the tubes next to the car card boxes. So what you're seeing on the videos has a bit of "magic" included. :-)

hi, the ferryrules.. not more unbalanced than 1 car. at 11:47 the ferry is unbalanced by 2,5 cars.... 15:00 unbalanced by 2 cars.. with such a rule the right way to do it would be to pull the cars one by one (left, right, left, right and so on) while pulling them until the ferryend on landingside.... just my point of view when i see the unbalance of the ferry there.
Thanks for the comment. I understand what you're saying, but when a string of cars straddles the ferry and the apron/land, they provide more stabilization that a car simply left standing on the ferry uncoupled from the rest of the string of cars. Fortunately, you can develop any rules you wish for loading/unloading your ferry. The practice shown in this video is typical for model railroad car floats loading from an apron supported by a gantry-style mechanism. For a different approach, check out the Concorde Branch ops video for loading/unloading using a pontoon-style bridge. Thanks again for your feedback.

I assume you're really interested in uncoupling... There are wooden or metal picks in holders around the layout's fascia, and these picks are used to uncouple cars. You don't usually see that in the videos since the couplers in a scene have either been set to a delayed uncoupling (so when cars are switched and the train stops and then reverses, the uncoupling appears to be automatic) or the uncoupling has been edited out of the video shot.
