I love this animations, keep them going! The pace, the expressions, the art... just incredible! Just one thing bothered me... the whole point of lashes is that they need to be performed with touch, here we see Szeth commanding lashes at a distance. This fight is amazing because the amount of close quarters contact it involves, not just regular slashing!
Yeah, lashing would be too overpowered if it could be done at range. It’s also why fight scenes with Szeth are so good because he often doesn’t even use his blade, and instead just weaves through groups of enemies while sending people flying off in random directions.
@@nickminkin20 not ALL lashings, true, basic lashing requires contact. Reverse lashing also. Full lashing could be "sprayed" on an object, but that is mainly the surge of adhesion. Here we see the surge of gravitation being cast at a distance... that's not how it works!
I just wanna say, the uncaniness of the movements the facial expressions the atmosphere reminds me of how scary the Diablo 2 cinematics were.... this is freaking amazing my guy!
imagine a series with the budget and scope of got or that new lotr series, opening with this bit. Audiences not having a clue what they witnessed but thinking it was glorious.
@@CGIMati that means good job overall, everything is consistent, the music, visuals and sfx go very well together. But also I just _know_ you tried to have Szeth have a more menacing walk, with his arms down, but then the cloth sims kept clipping under the arms a nd making your life hell so you used a different animation in the end.
This is how i would love to see the Stormlight Archives being done. High quality anime and/or CGI. Live action would probably kill the story, and creativity of good artists. Plus people would get hung up with the actors and stuff. PS, this clip was so friggin cool. As someone else mentioned, this felt right out of the Diable game series, and i am here for it. I could die a happy man if i could see the entire series done this way.
Damn dude, this and the bridge four one are incredible. The only criticism I have is minuscule in comparison to how well done this is. 9.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 out of 10 my man. One thing I love from both videos is how you captured the brutality of it all.
holy cow, this is exactly how I imaged the scene would be when I read the book! thank you so much for the animation! it's absolutely incredible and would appreciate more of this!
WOW okay oh my god i dont even know what to say, its just... wow im amazed i swear to god its 10th time im watching it on repeat you did such a great job its just beautiful
Oh my god this is SO well done. The crab at the beggining!!! The Kholin banners on the walls!!! The ambience, the lighting, the textures, the clothing, the action, SUPER COOL, loved it. You did pay attention to a lot of details, however, you missed some things: 1. Lashes do not work like that, someone else already commented that. 2. Shardblades (or honorblade in this case) cut stone much more easily, this feels like it is a lightsaber cutting through metal. 3. The blade appears out of mist, but still the way you did it looked very cool and intimidating so I don't blame you. 4. The blade doesn't cut flesh. 5. Kholinar palace looks too big. I believe it only has like two floors. 6. I wish you made Szeth shine in blue from the stomlight. (and on a side note the "i am full of pain" line felt too edgy) Yes, I know I sound like a douchebag. It feels wrong to even mention these things because just the fact that this animation was made shows great love for the art and for the books, and I do choose focus on the positive, PLEASE KEEP IT GOING I BEG YOU. Seriously, you are doing such a geat job :)
Thanks :D Cutting off heads is done intentionally. I know ot is not according to the book, but the lack of it looked odd in aniamation (like aniamation problem). Similarly with the wall cutting. I had to add physicality to it to make it look better in animation. I think my biggest mistake is the Szeth powers. Szeth must touch the object for this to work - and i made it wrong.
I love it. this and the Mistborn animation are some of my favorite to come back to! Although (UM...ACTUALLY) I don't think the honor blade would have decapitated the guards unless they were already dead. Keep up the great work!
Wonderful work, i can only imagine the work you have to put in this haha! It's pretty damn immersive to watch and goddamn the voices are awesome. My favorite moment is in the 2nd minute, it turns into a masterpiece!
This looks really nice. Only thing that wasn't right was the lashing where he dragged the guard through the air to himself and the shardblade cutting the neck in the final fight. The shardblade doesn't do anything to the skin, it just burns the soul and leaves the eyes burnt (like the first kill) it cuts the clothes and armor like paper. And i guess the stone should not be that hard either to cut out. Felt little bit like Star Wars especially the cutting of the stone and the first lashing. He should need to touch the guard to be able to lash him.
Holy fucking shit man this is amazing! Like just damn. Such a good adaptation of the source material. Pitch this to a studio or something we gotta have a whole series.
Okay this is really cool because it doesn't quite hit the vibe of the books, but it does hit the vibe of how fantasy books tend to be adapted into movies. It condenses the information from the book really well with only a few images. (The wall cut with the Blade emitting light as if had been melted by a lightsaber looks a little goofy though imo)
Overall, it's great, but I have two concerns. First, Sheth can only pull objects or people that he physically touches-nothing remote. Second, Shardblades don't cut living humans; they pass through them
You forgot the part where he was obsessing over whether he was technically walking on stones and commiting herasy, but felt bound regardless and gave in, that his soul was already damned
This is by far the coolest Stormlight adaptation I've seen. Holy cow, I really hope Brandon sees it.
thanks :D
This perfectly shows the terror that the assassin in white brings in the first book
I love this animations, keep them going! The pace, the expressions, the art... just incredible!

Agree about the touch, but yes bring us more Stormlight animations! Kaladin and Adolin in the dueling arena!
Yeah, lashing would be too overpowered if it could be done at range. It’s also why fight scenes with Szeth are so good because he often doesn’t even use his blade, and instead just weaves through groups of enemies while sending people flying off in random directions.

Thanks again for inviting me to participate in the project. It was great to make music for this amazing animation. Wonderful work Mateusz and Julia!
Best music ever
You did a phenomenal job bro🔥
Holy shit!!! This is beautiful!!! May the Almighty bless you, my brother

Szeth prancing down that hallway with the shardblade out to the side... storms, man. These shot compositions are fantastic.
That perspective shift is top teir
It kinda hurt my neck though, trying to shift my sense of gravity.
Everything sounds great, sound design and music are awesome! Big shout out to the whole team! 👏👏👏
Thanks! :D
Wish it was more accurate, but I will take all the Stormlight animation I can get
I try my best
@@CGIMati That is all we can really ask for :) The animation is stunning. super dramatic
thanks :
@@CGIMatiI don’t see how it’s inaccurate at all…I think it’s spot on, defiantly got the feel down for Szeth
@@TheReadingVagabond I saw at least 3 lashings without physical contact to imbue with Stormlight
feels like an old Blizzard CGI cutscene in the best possible way.
Thanks
Dude, this is absolutely spectacular. I would absolutely watch a full-length film made like this.

I feel like you nailed the feeling of falling rather than floating in some of the lashings. Really cool
