Thanks for watching!
Hi Everyone! Thank you all so much for the kind and supportive comments on this video, I’m feeling the love! I notice that a number of folks asked similar questions in theses comments so I thought I’d share:
Vehicle Logistics:
Initially I was going to get a tow dolly for the car, but I held off on that as I was unsure if I'd keep the RV or downsize to a smaller nomadic rig. Since I've had the RV, I've only moved around the same 100 miles of land, I didn't take the RV further than that. To get my car when I moved the RV I'm blessed that family and friends gave me a ride between rigs, or Chloe and I took a nice long hike! :-) When I went on trips in the car and didn't want to leave my RV in the forest, I put it in storage - which costs about $100.00 per month.
Remote Work
Some folks asked about remote work. I use a 300GB Verizon hotspot for my work on the road. It’s been enough to use zoom multiple times daily, the internet as needed for administration, and to upload UA-cam videos. To get this service you have to have a small business license.
Thanks again everyone! And a special thank you to Bob Wells and the team at CheapRVliving for the opportunity to interview. 😊
Inspirational.
Please tell us how you survive Arizona summer heat.
Very nice
You're amazing. Wow, so impressed, good luck to you.
You are so beautiful❤ stay having fun in your RV and Car 😊
I’m selling everything and becoming a Nomad!!!! I thought the closest I’d get would be watching you guys enjoy your freedom vicariously but I’ve realized that my entire family just wants me to shut up, don’t share my ignorance, and continue making them potato salad while they are helping each other to my half of moms inheritance. So I don’t want to live in a village of abusive criminals anymore and my 60 years has been pure misery, including my marriage, I’m going to buy a van and travel to visit my friends on the East Coast before we are all dead. I’m extremely excited and can’t stop watching your videos! 😂
Omg yes go go
If you are as unhappy as you sound, you should go and find YOUR JOY !!
Sell everything and go now. God promises no one another breath. Find your happiness ❤
Congrats on diving into this journey! 🙂
Don't be too hard on your family. They may be going through their own "issues" and are just venting. Or maybe they are total douche nozzles - I don't know. But maybe they will come around and realize you were a pretty decent guy once you have moved on.
I commend her for saying a thorough thank you to Bob. Sums it up for all of us. 🎉
Exactly!
I'm so grateful to Bob!
Bob is the guru of a cult I'm proud to be in 😊💙💃

Thanks so much for your kind comment. Blessings to you! :-)
Not the lifestyle for me, but very much enjoy listening as well. positive, upbeat people, very encouraging.
She’s 38 so she’s not just starting out in life. At her age I had graduated college, was well into my career in the criminal justice system that I loved and had paid off my first house that I took out a 15 year mortgage on. Now retired at age 50 owning my house and land free and clear with investments that I retired on so from my view she is not very successful. I own an RV that I enjoy camping in but I would never consider living in it, let alone living in a car but to each their own…..
Ive been in a corolla for 5 years now and i absolutely love it. Ive been to almost every state, almost every national park, ive lived in different cities all around the country and i love that i get to experience life in different areas. Its so fun meeting new people and seeing new places. I can't ever go back
I'm curious if you have a job or work part time? My thought is that unless you work remotely like this gal you are probably on retirement. Thanks.
Love it! I had a Corolla before the Nissan. Toyota is my favorite brand for sure. :-)
Now, I'm jealous! Lol! I think some of us were just born with gypsy blood! I know one thing, I am not spending another unbearable hot summer here in the Southern California, friggin' hot, congested desert. Winters are okay. Summers suck eggs.
I can tell that Autumn was very excited to share her journey. She's very creative and quite the talker...and she's pretty also.
Thank you. :-)
It never ceases to amaze me the enthusiasm and joy nomads have in sharing their rigs with you. It's been fun to witness over the years! -PJ
Totally, right? I feel like our vehicles almost become a part of the family. :-)
Pop😅
This is amazing. Fits my lifestyle as a minimalist. After living in a large empty house I found that it's pretty become my prison. I'm not happy paying a mortgage and taxes. I started car camping intermittently but slowly working towards longer time being on the road. Let go. What you own ultimately owns you.
I totally agree! Even upgrading to the RV is so much more than I need and I miss the extreme minimalism of the car. :-)
Wow, what an amazing car build! Autumn has the most organized car I've ever seen! She's also very enthusiastic about the nomadic lifestyle and it shows. Thanks for sharing, Bob & Autumn! I look forward to seeing what she has done with her Class C as well.
Thanks so much! :-)
it's amazing as well.
I lived 5 years in my pick-up truck with 5 dogs, and saved up the down payment for my 14 acres of woodland. It is now paid for. I have solar power as electricity and only subscribe to water as my utilities.
Per month my bill (for myself alone) is $15.00 minimum flat rate and $120.00 for Phone plus Internet.
I have cats and a small dog, and I usually spend about $45.00 per month for their food. Other than that, I don't need anything else. I cook on an open fire outdoors sometimes, and use propane bottles to cook with, on rainy days.
I used to sleep in my Smart car when visiting my friends after moving away from them, to my Land about 100 miles away.
👍😍🐞🐘🍀💖🌞💃
Love this! What a wonderful and free way to live.
You are Living my Dream!
Now, if we could get rid of property taxes, we'd be all set!
No, no don’t say that, I don’t like taxes more than anyone else, but in a civilized society we all need to pay our share.
I appreciate how cheerful and pleasant Amber is.
Autumn?
Thanks so much. :-)
@@autumnandchloe you are an amazing person, so kind, and I hope you know that.
Good for Autumn for having the courage & initiative to do this. Many are forced into this situation because of economic situations. The window screens are a great idea!
Thanks so much! 🙂
lol bobs sense of humor always gets me.
lol definitely! He’s awesome
I am amazed how she lived in a small car and how excited she is about her life, too!
Thanks so much! :-)
I'm an inch or so shorter than Autumn. My favorite way to sleep in a compact car is to use the front passenger seat. I reclined the seat all the way. In front of the seat, in the floor well, was my big clothing bag. It was a soft supportive place for the feet and calves. A pillow was put at the hinge of the seat. Then sheets or a sleeping bag was put on top. A small pillow was used for the head when in the mood. The body position was not level, but close to level. It was possible to sleep on the side or on the back and I could roll over without waking.
Try it. No build required. This could work for people taller than me. It just depends on the car.
Thank Autumn for your upbeat personality and interview. My favorite was the nylons for the windows that kept the bugs out.
Thanks so much! 🙂 Those window screens have been wonderful!
Autumn you are so clearly passionate about this! I immediately thought “wow she has a way with words”, and then later you said you’re also a writer. Beautiful soul, wish you all the best!
Thanks so much! 🙂
She is beautiful physically, I thought she was younger, but her joie de vivre, shows that her beauty will be ageless, she won’t need expensive serums on]r surgery and she won’t need to worry about wrinkles or saggy skin, it comes from inside.
Thank y'all for the great video! Autumn's experience with living the nomadic lifestyle is very evident. She has a fantastic set up with the two mobile domiciles. Stay Safe, keep posting and I'll keep watching 🙏👍
Thanks Bob for an amazing interview of Autumns journey. She is so full of energy! That's something I've had a great decline of sense retiring. But I've been trying to build out a Cargo Trailer to go fishing and such. And energy is so needed. I believe Autumn is a free spirit and tries to help her clients as much as possible. She even helps people like me and she doesn't even know me. Thanks
Thanks so much! :-)
My kinda gal though I left the US in 2006 so can't do that but I divide my time between Costa Rica (1-3 months these days - in between - then 6 months in NICARAGUA (volunteering on my own helping street dogs & a rescue center & renting a room in a families home for $140/month with shared kitchen & private bathroom) & 6 months in Mexico City & Puebla (my 2 FAV cities IN THE WORLD & AMAZING) where I stay in dorms in a NON-party hostel with shared kitchen where I meet all sorts of people from ALL OVER the world - ranging from late 20s to 70s & spend much of my days walking, walking & exploring & I LOVE cheap street food!!!!
you are living one of my dreams! that sounds amazing 🤍
That sounds amazing! :-)
What a great build for a car! Autumn is inspiring, she's really got a well-thought out build. Nice to be reminded that we don't have to get it right on the first try. Looking forward to exploring her channel! Thanks, Bob!
Thanks so much! 🙂
I started in a Subaru Forester L. It sucked. I have a Ford Econoline 150 today.
I started in a 07 Saturn Ion now I have a 2012 Ford E250 still have both,love the lifestyle.
I'm thinking of getting a For Econoline 150 - how has it been for you?
Great video God bless Chloe, shortly after thos video was made. Her Camper was invaded by mice. They ruined so much . She is now living full time in her vehicle. I believe her camper is for up sale. Praying for her future.
Mice suck.
Mice seem to be the most costly pests on the road . They can easily do thousands of dollars in electrical damaged by munching on wires
@@tex959 Any suggestions on how to keep them out of our vehicles?
@@TheyCallMeSir_Hhaving my cat in my vehicle with me is a double blessing!

So nice to see such a positive, truly happy young person, so enjoying their life! Love her car build, very simple and efficient with nice little extras.
Thanks so much! 🙂
I’m starting to think I’m really strong for a woman. I have a Jackery 1500 and I can pick it up fine. I also use two 5 gallon water bottles that I pick up when full. They’re heavy but nothing crazy. I’m a 51 year old who doesn’t exercise but maybe being fat keeps my muscles in shape, just from having to tote me around.
I work with a lady who looks very overweight, (I'm an overweight almost 50 y/o female) but she's STRONG! can easily lift 2 pks of 24x600ml water at the same time while I'm struggling with one.
Women our age are the strongest and best! ❤
You ARE strong! I can pick up my 3-gallon but that's enough for me!
Just a word of caution, your knees, for example, may start to feel the burden of carrying the excess weight. I highly recommend as a kind tip to start doing stretching exercises & walking to keep your knees, back, & hips in shape 😊 I learned the hard way from example. I find pool exercises are good for yoga stretches.
I can't lift 5 gal of water.
Autumn is so enthusiastic! Wonderful sense of purpose and self reliance. May God bless and Mary keep you dear one!❤
Thanks so much! 🙂
Super organized, smart and with such a positive attitude. Living life on your terms! Great job and thanks for sharing your life with Chloe!
Thanks so much! 🙂
I love her sweetness and contagious enthusiasm. Why didn't I have this kind of mindset when I was younger? Then again, we didn't have internet yet. Oh, -- and I had kids and shit -- well. Nevermind. 😂 😂
I hear you brother but it all works out. If you really think about it I think you will agree
Thanks so much! :-)

How’s it going? I have a Honda Civic, in U.K. Thinking of using it for an interim home/trips. What’s your set up inside like? Do you have videos I could watch?
Awesome! 🙂
Wow, this is such good timing for this video. I just bought 2 months ago a very low-milage Nissan Versa as i couldn't afford the vans out there right now & missed out on 2 SUVs. I'm trying to figure out how to make my Versa work to live in & in a winter climate. I'm just hesitant to make the move & go for it.
Thank you Bob for another good interview 😊
Don't wait until you feel ready.
Just rip the bandaid off.
You can't know what works for you until you get out there.
Adjust on the road as you go.
Just be mindful of heat/cold weather patterns and location.
Congrats on your new car - the versa's are great and I believe slightly larger than the sentra. The comment by @az55544 is spot on - you've got to dive in and there will be SOOOO many adjustments made along the way. Best wishes on your journey! :-)
She's a breath of fresh air 😊
Love her rigs and her energy kudos to Autumn. A 2nd vehicle is really nice to have around 😊thanks guys
Thanks so much! 🙂
Love the swivel table and all her beautiful organizing boxes
Thank you! So fun to create that. 🙂
I’d like to know how she travels with and/or has both an RV and a car. Does she tow the car behind the RV? Where does she leave the RV if taking a trip with the car?I’m really more interested in the logistics of having both. Thank you!
Hi there! Initially I was going to get a tow dolly for the car, but I held off on that as I was unsure if I'd keep the RV or downsize to a smaller nomadic rig. Since I've had the RV, I've only moved around the same 100 miles of land, I didn't take the RV further than that. A lot of fun ideas there, that PVC swivel table seemed super useful. Thanks for the tour!

I think she is cute and very excited to be able to share her story. I like the fact that she is living life and her dreams! Enjoyed it!
Safe travels
Thanks so much! 🙂
Ms. Autumn is a cool down to earth lovely lady. She’s like a Wonder Woman of Nomading😎👍🏾
Thanks so much! 🙂
Always admire those that take car dweller route.
I agree with Chloe that flat surfaces are important, however that behind the drivers seat is likely to take her head off if there was a collision, even a minor impact she may never walk again.
Such a BEAUTIFUL woman
Thanks so much! 🙂
I’m a counselor too! I’ve wondered about this lifestyle for awhile would love it. So fun watching these. It’s like watching my soul people.
Awesome use of space!
Thanks so much! 🙂
Young looking 38 year old; fun build matches her personality methinks.
Yeah she looks fantastic!
Question for anyone that will respond. When you travel with more than one pet (cat), how do you keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter when you leave your car or suv unattended specifically?
been wondering this too...especially because vehicles interiors can be so much hotter than outside. curious if any seasoned nomads will reply 🤍
Great question, so important. With my dog Chloe... first and foremost we follow the weather. If it's a super-hot day we are outside (because we've followed the weather), or are inside with the vehicle AC. In the hot months I can only shop in the early morning or late evening so it's not so hot for my dog to stay in the car. Same with showering at a gym. Keeping Chloe warm in the winter was easier because she loves to be covered in blankets.
Nice to see you Autumn on this channel! What a small world!
Thanks so much! 🙂
I live in my jeep I don't have to get out of my car at all I got everything fix to where I can cook or whatever I need I got 2400 power station I got Fridge. And two small tall plastic dressers I got a deep sleep in here that's made just for my jeep it's feels better then any bed I can use the bathroom in it if I have too I got fans hanging up I got storage on top
I always thought it'd be so cool to do a Jeep build. Yours sounds awesome!

Me too!
Thanks so much! 🙂
Awesome young lady! Smart about everything in her life. And pretty too!
Wow. A car setup without opening up the trunk and backseat area for the bed. That is impressive.
She does use part of the trunk for her bed… for her legs/feet. I think she might be a less tossy and turny sleeper than me, as the swivel table would definitely get in my way - but I love it for another part of the car… and Autumn building it herself is great, as they do cost a bomb.
Thanks Bob for a great interview! Autumn you did an excellent build in your car. Great ideas and helpful to so many people.
Great video and I love Autumn's enthusiasm about adapting to a simpler lifestyle. Cheers!
Thanks so much! 🙂
thank you! i will be car camping with 2 dogs and love this thank you
🎉🎉🎉Autumn!!! So happy this video is up. It was fantastic 😊
Autumn is amazing, able to break free so young. Being a fairly recent widower in my 50s, my wife started me on watching tiny living and travelling. We never got around to it, but maybe someday I'll get my courage up and do some nomadically travelling. Heck, I already hike, bike, and even started paddleboarding which seem to encompass the lifestyle in a lot of the nomadic videos I've watched, but mine are just day excursions 😉. BTW, having 2 vehicles, I assume she must have some type of home base and another driver, since both vehicles were at the campsite?
Hi there, a widower at 50. That's young. I'm sorry.
In terms of having two vehicles, initially I was going to get a tow dolly for the car, but I held off on that as I was unsure if I'd keep the RV or downsize to a smaller nomadic rig.
Wow what a neat setup. You meet so many amazing wonderful people. 🐦🐦🐦👈👈👈
I love this . She's so talented.

Thanks so much! 🙂
I've wanted to live in a van since I was 19, I'm now 31. It's really inspiring to see someone just go for it with what they have until they can get something better. I'm currently prepping to head out on the road next Spring in a hatchback and Springbar tent with a dog and two cats. I can't stomach the cost of rent and bleeding my money away to a stranger for very basic and often underwhelming shelter. I'm a full time artist who just wants to live and explore in nature. Eventually I would want to upgrade to a 4x4 truck or suv and a tow behind camper.
While you still have the apartment, go out for a week or so and try it, before you go cold turkey..
I hear you on that impulse, and on that desire to save your money! My only regret with this nomadic life is that I didn't trust my impulse from an earlier age and do this sooner. Sometimes it was HARD. But, I never looked back. While I enjoy standing up inside and hot showers... taking this leap into the nomadic life is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Blessings to you on your journey!
Thank you, Bob and Autumn, for a great interview ❤
She is very energetic. Bob looks great.
🙂
Sleep and rest are a must anytime, but especially on the road. We can work around most things but sleep and rest is something that must be achieved.
Totally!
Sorry about your RV being invaded by mice. Hope you can replace it soon. I admire your creativity living in your car so efficiently, it's always nice to trade for mor space sometimes. Best Wishes!

my family thinks that I am crazy about my desire to live in a van/Class C RV, but I've been thinking about doing this for the past 5-6 years. They are very nervous about my security since I am in my 60s and have had knee/hip replacement surgeries. I also live in Canada, so I have to worry about the Winter weather!
I wish we could do the RV life up in Canada. But when it gets to -50 it gets super tough. Enjoy your journey
I'm from here, but we get a lot of vanlifers on Vancouver Island because we don't often get below zero.
Watch some van lifer channels from Canada that do it full time, there are plenty out there. Apparently it's easier to keep warm in winter than cool in summer according to some.
@@michellestratford9753 yep in Alberta even last winter it was -50 for almost two weeks.. that's a bit terrifying. Lol
Brrrr!
Great interview and tour! I have seen some of her videos on UA-cam previously, I think having a home base of some kind is a great idea whether that is a separate vehicle such as the RV/Car hybrid scenario here or having some land, etc.
She has such a pleasant personality. You can tell how much she enjoys the lifestyle. She’s also obviously intelligent……
The importance of being on a flat surface. Very important detail to living in a car. Need to know!
A great video. Autumn is very genuine, and it is great through her work that she helps others i wish there had been more time to see the camper. Always a great video, Bob..
She is adorable!
Thanks so much! 🙂
I have lived in my Prius for 5 years. I used to own a Ford 2500 4X4 with a Lance camper, but once my insurance payment exceeded the totaled value of the pickup, I gave it away for the tax write off, which was far more than the insured value.
Being retired, I have no job to do, so spending two weeks at a time, mostly in the National Forests (they are free!) works for me. I never wanted to trade for a van because even with 125,000 miles, my Prius gets 55+ mpg. There is always a Toyota dealer nearby when I need regular maintenance, and I have grandchildren all over the country, so my life is quite full.
Do you have problems with electric stations to recharge your Prius?
A Prius sounds amazing. If I didn't work so many long hours inside of my vehicles, I'd take that route.
I saw some college dudes living outta their VW van and it had water, tv/radio, and was simple. I loved it and I'm sold. Now I own my van home in progress.
This was fabulous!
Thanks so much! 🙂
Autumn is awesome!! Subscribe to her channel 😊
Hi @normitalivsmama! Thanks so much. Good to see you here. 🙂
She's adorable!😂❤❤❤
To live in a car and have it set up camping for a a few days would be fine for me. To live in a car as your home day after day would be very stressful. It would be fun & exciting in my twenties. I'd rather work for cheap hourly wages and rent a room then live full time in a car.
Agreed. At the the very least one should try to get a mini cargo van like Ford Transit Connect or Ram Promaster City which is what I tried for one winter when I went to the desert southwest and even then I had to have a tent set up alongside of it just for extra living space and something I could stand up in besides the outdoors. A sedan would just be the worst. Even an SUV would be better. To each his/her own though.
Living in a sedan was not the easiest things, but I love the grit and adaptability I developed in the process. It's good to know if it's not for you though. I still love camping in the car, but I won't live in it full time again. 1.5 years was long enough. However, I will nomad forever! :-)
Would have liked a sequel on the motorhome where she goes and how she boondocks etc
It seems that people really enjoy living in van life. the good thing is that they can move to anywhere they want to go.
Sounds like everything and the transition to a rv worked.
I’m assuming you’re much more comfortable.
Thanks for sharing.
I’m in a similar situation.
😊
You can tell she's proud of her build
Thank you for sharing this! ❤
I bought those window screens for my vehicle as well. I am hopeful that someday I will be able to at least car camp on occasion if not as a lifestyle.
So cool! I’ve lived in my camper since Sept 2019, and I also enjoy car camping. My current one is a similar set up having my lower body in the truck of my ‘97 VW Passat TDI, and then head in the folded down back seat area. Sometimes I just put my whole body except head in the trunk curled up. I need to make some proper fitting window covers. I also have a ‘07 Subaru Outback I’ve made windows covers for, but had some mechanic issues, so haven’t gotten to take it out camping yet. Have a ‘94 suburban too. is also so great for car camping. Put a single mattress in it or a Cabelas pad. It is also nice because you can sit up easily and move around more. 4x4/ more clearance is nice. Subaru does great off road too.
Bob you & your video's are a great comfort. I'd have to go with rv, I'm to tall for anything smaller!!!
Bob and Crew, thank you for all you do,we need this info as making this transition to a "normal life" you make it all possible.
