I loved Gregory Peck my whole life. I always knew he was a man of great integrity. Who didn’t want Atticus Finch as their own father? And his voice was so rich and unmistakable. It’s just great to know he was everything he appeared to be and much more.
@@FactsVerse It’s hard for me to say. Of course To Kill a Mockingbird stands out with everyone. I love Roman Holiday too, and it’s fun to see him in a comedy like Designing Woman. Memories of my Papa are wonderful, despite his demanding and busy life, ensuring memorable times on the home life our family enjoyed together. Unfortunately too many less gifted children use their parents as an excuse for the problems in their life out of jealousy they aren’t as gifted or highly regarded as their parents.
My mother and I had the honor of meeting Gregory and Veronique Peck in 1987, as they attended a showing of one of his films, Duel in the Sun, being shown as part of a presentation honoring his contriubtion to film and the Motion Picture Industry at The George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY. They sat next to us during the film. Yes, the two seats next to us were unoccupied when we sat down, and after the film started they came and occupied them. My mother and I looked at them in complete astonishment, and they responded simply by smiling and waving, like we were long lost friends. Somehow we mustered the courage to wave back. So we got to watch a Gregory Peck film with the star and his wife.
Gregory Peck was a wonderful actor & seemed to be a great man. It's great that he was so involved with his children & wife. He was a blessing. I'm thankful he shared his gifts. And thank you to the Peck children for their career choices, sharing their memories & thank you for your service to this Country & helping our Veteran's who are too often forgotten. God bless you all.
Peck’s role as General Savage, in Twelve O’Clock High, is still used by the military to teach leadership to officers. I’m glad to see Fact Verse show a positive portrayal of this fine actors’ life.
I was twelve years old when Gregory Peck became my favourite actor. I’m now 82 and he is still my favourite actor. Every time I open my lap top his is the face I see. I’ve got many of his films in video and DVD’s, including The Million Pound Note. He was a great actor who could take on any role. There will never be another one to match him!
My favorite Gregory Peck film is Roman Holiday. I have always loved the deep resonance of his speaking voice. I’m glad to learn he was such a wonderful human being.
I met Gregory Peck in the mid 90’s when I was working at Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA, I had the honour. of returning one of the works of art he owned that was lent for an exhibition . He answered the door invited me in and chatted with me for a while and talked about his collection, I told him that he had made a great impression on me when I was a kid and growing up. I told him that the most impressionable film on me was his acting the character in the Big Country. We continued to talk about his collection and related his love of art and his purchase of a few Picasso pieces that he fell in love with and purchased in Rome when he was working on Roman Holiday. I walked away that afternoon with the memory of a great visit with a kind and great man and a fellow art lover.
Had the pleasure of meeting him in San Diego in the early eighties. He was very kind and gracious to a group of young ladies celebrating a wedding shower in a nice restaurant. He was dining with several of his family members and we recognized him. He spoke with us, congratulated the bride to be and we were polite enough to quickly depart, expressing our love and admiration. Roman Holiday is my favorite of his films.
I also loved Roman Holiday and Audrey Hepburn was also a favorite. I think I read somewhere that growing up, she was a refugee at some point, her family struggling just to find food, but I could be wrong, it's been so long since I read it, but I've always been a fan of hers.
@@JoanZeiglerYou are correct. Audrey was a victim of World War II. As a child she was often without funds and extremely hungry. She would eat weeds and plants. Some medical personnel think that may have contributed to her later GI and cancer problems. In order to help her mother financially she would assist the Allied Army by acquiring and passing intelligence information. Her bravery and desire to remain alive under horrible conditions is impressive.
He was one of the greats from that golden era, my favourite film of his was the yearling,he was such a noble ,handsome man. The actors now are second rate in everything. 🤩🤩🤩
I wish I had a father like that. My father was a good man don’t get me wrong. My father grew up hard. He never borrowed anything. If he didn’t have something he would buy it or save for it until he had the money.
I think Gregory Peck was a wonderful actor, and I enjoy all of his films. Big Country, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Roman Holiday, and made for television movies where he plays a priest. He was a remarkable man. Great actor.
Because of this, that he was such a man of integrity, I have always liked him, but I like him more now that I hear his children speak about him, in that case, I will try and watch every movie that comes out now on the TV. Thank you.
One of my favorite Gregory Peck films is the one called The Sinner. It is one of his more obscure films based on Dostoyevsky's, The Gambler. It shows Gregory Peck in a different light, and he does a wonderful job. Let us not forget Cape Fear, as well
Lately when you hear about the lives and reputations of famous actors in Hollywood it's usually how they had all kinds of personality traits and issues with drugs, alcohol, or sleeping around with anyone they come across. And especially their children and friends reveal a lot of bad things and moments with their famous parents like Gary Crosby speaking about how lousy Bing Crosby was as a father or Joan Crawfords' daughter writing "Mommy Dearest" about the hellish life of having Joan as a mother. Gregory Peck has always been one of my favorite actors and felt that he was also one of the nicest in Hollywood based on what others who worked with him had nothing but good to say about Peck. He portrayed a man of character and morals in so many roles it's nice to know that he was like that for real and, like Atticus Finch, was kind and loving as a husband and father. Thank you for sharing some of these facts about Gregory Peck's life. It was very refreshing to learn about his life as a loving husband and father. He seems to be a rarity Hollywood these days.
A true gentleman, who married ladies and fathered ladies and gentlemen. There will never be another like him, and all the others will be compared to him.
I remember reading that he married Veronique whom he met when she interviewed him for Paris Match while he was filming Roman Holiday. I understand that he married Veronique the day after his divorce from his current wife was finalized. I'm sure that Veronique was very beautiful and his wife at the time was "old news". Perhaps I'm wrong but I've seen this happen especially in Hollywood frequently. But does that signify that Gregory Peck was a "true gentleman"?
@@joanschilleci7564 Rapidly approaching 70 years, I've learned to judge what I read with a jaundiced eye, as every writer has an axe to grind, one way or another. The article states that he was on good terms with his ex wife, so she didn't mind it seems, why should you?
When Gregory Peck was filming "Beloved Infidel" with Deborah Kerr in our neighborhood in West Hollywood, my dad asked them to take a photo with me. I was only 2 years old. His kindness was memorable for my dad. I'm proud of that moment! What a beautiful and talented person he was!❤

Gregory Peck was in a lot of really good movies, it's hard to pick a favorite. He was in 2 movies that attacked prejudice. Most everyone loves him as Atticus Finch, but in 1947 he starred in another film attacking antisemitism - "Gentleman's Agreement". It was just after WWII and based on a novel of the same name. He played a non-Jewish writer who, after seeing his Jewish friend snubbed, decided to dig deeper into this "quiet" form of bigotry. He posed as a Jew and experienced first hand what it was like. His girl friend was against it once his "religion" became known to acquaintances, etc. and she was embarrassed. It's really a good movie - a bit contrived, maybe, but still a good watch.
"Well, I'm standin' in line in the Rain to see a movie starring Gregory Peck Yeah, but you know it's not the one that I had in mind He's got a new one out now, I don't even know what it's about But I'll see him in anything so I'll stand in line" Brownsville Girl, Bob Dylan Couldn't have expressed my feelings any better about his body of work
@raynorthedge5722 That was: quiet an, interesting filmic concept; although, its' realization; &, execution could have been better. I think the flaws were inherently due in large part, to: a, somewhat dull screenplay writing of the, story. It was only saved by the fine acting turned in by most all involved. The writing could have been upgraded; the pacing seems likely to have been something of an issue; the, sustainability of the film's ideas, for the fill length of its' running time, may be a problematic concern; &, their are some questions as to choosing such a, varied, diverse cast for its' era, to portray such ethnically specific events in the happenings of its' story. Although, not entirely realistic in its' depictions, it does at least, attempt to address, such important topics as military mental health issues; bomber pilot symptoms of military duty; militsry service personnel PTSD; military service illness sufferer treatment possibilities; militsry personnel interethnic; &, inter-religious partnering; militsry serviceman more authentic forms of service related sacrifice; honor; &, dedication; military & civilian relationship dynamics; &, benefits; Etc. "The Purple Plain"-(1954), did garner British film industry cast award merit; but, not for its' lead: Gregory Peck; or, his romantic co-playing, female partner. The film was nowhere near as popular among American audiences as it was amongst British; &, Canadian ones. Peck's involvement in the film, for the most part, most likely evolved from his residence for tax reasons, at the time. Some of its' scenes depicting the legendary DeHaviland Mosquito aircraft, were staged w/: plane models, vs. using the, actual a/c. While flawed, in a, number of ways, it was worthy of its' being making, having been commissioned, for its' period; its' intended purposes aspired to; &, the outcomes it could've achieved. Whilst I truly must be in the right frame; &, mood to re-watch it; &, its' pacing at times, drags slowly; it still appeals on certain levels, despite its' now, considerable age. Please Note: Whenever naming a work of art, such as; &, including a, film; it is requisite to enclose the name of its' title, in double quotes; &, to maintain proper capitalizations. In this case, that would have to look like, this: "The Purple Plain". The highly engaging title itself was taken from a, fascinating geological phenomenon of the local area, in which the film's exact settings were scripted, as to have taken place in.
The one with Ingrid Bergman, whereby he has hallucinations seeing stripes in the snow or anywhere would set him off (don't know the name of the film) he was very young it must have been about 1945.

I saw him in person when I lived in Cocoa Beach. I went to pay my rent . My very attractive landlady opened the door. I saw behind her, sitting on the couch , a shirtless Gregory Peck. He was in town shooting the movie “Marooned.” He was not faithful to his wife. Fidelity might be too much to expect from gorgeous movie stars who have women throwing themselves at them all of the time.
The Big Country, was probably my favourite, if I am not mistaken, when I was a kid in Liverpool in the UK, he came to Liverpool for the Grand National.
@@FactsVerse 'I just looked through your video library and you seem to cover celebrities in the entertainment industry very well. I would love to see a few videos about the tycoons of the financial world.
How wonderful to hear the respect the children had for their father. What a change compared to so many Hollywood stars. Absolute favourite was “BIG COUNTRY”. Still watch it every so often. Wonderful romance - same with Roman Holiday but hated the ending! 😂
I love bad boy Lute in Duel in the Sun. He was a complete heel but did it with such charm. I also like him in Big Country. He was only going to do things on his terms. He was secure in who he was and didn’t need to show off with false bravado.
"The Guns of Navarone" is my all time movie of Greg. 2nd is "The Yearling". 3rd is "Captain Horatio Hornblower". And my 4th is "David and Bathsheba". Greg was an awesome actor. One of THE greatest actors ever! The only one that I won't watch is..."To Kill a Mockingbird". The reason is...this movie overly used things; that simply was NOT the real South. Like the Northerners and Westerner's have never understood; what the real southern was, and why. Being born in the south; and then living in Chicago; I can understand why they do not know the real South. And they really did it bad; when the northerners came down south to cause "hate the whites" in the 60's! In things they had NO clue about it. Because they kept hearing things; like this movie, etc; that is simply NOT true. Of Course, "Gone with the Wind"; is another "make 'em hate white" movie. That was far over lies; what it really was down south back then! Believe it or not. And may Jesus have mercy; for LIES creating "hate white's"! And that has made this..."The lynchees have now become the Lynchors". And the "Lynchors are now the Lynchees"! Sad but oh true.
My favorite Peck movies are Gentleman's Agreement and To Kill a Mockingbird, both of which deal with racism and bigotry. I believe Gentleman's Agreement won Best Picture. ❤

“Despite this nomadic lifestyle…..”. Sounds like a great way to grow up! No “despite” about it.
Gregory Peck was in a lot of really good movies, it's hard to pick a favorite. Guns of Navarone, Cape Fear, The Omen come to mind and the one where he was a gunfighter coming to town to see his son, I can't remember the name of the movie, it might be The Gunfighter, anyway, that was a pretty good movie also.
No worries--it's going to be really hard. Thanks for sharing your favorites. Be safe and have a great weekend ❣
Loved him in everything he did

Respect for Hollywood legend Gregory peck
Beautiful words, thank you for your message for Gregory. Which of his roles appealed to you the most?
The Big Country!!! He was an amazing actor and human being
To kill a mockingbird...I saw it when I was a kid & I loved him since. I wanted Atticus Finch to be my dad... ❤️❤️
One of our favorites too, you've got taste! Which film comes in at second place?
He was the greatest in what he was doing on stage and off
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and have a great weekend!
"Well, I'm standin' in line in the
Rain to see a movie starring Gregory Peck
Yeah, but you know it's not the one that I had in mind
He's got a new one out now, I don't even know what it's about
But I'll see him in anything so I'll stand in line" Brownsville Girl, Bob Dylan
Couldn't have expressed my feelings any better about his body of work
I guess I missed the "rumors" part?
Our school teacher looked like Gregory Peck - we never missed a day at school
High caliber human being.
My favourite film was The Purple Plain
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for sharing your views on this. What is your favorite film of Gregory?
@raynorthedge5722
That was: quiet an, interesting filmic concept; although, its' realization; &, execution could have been better.
Please Note:
Whenever naming a work of art, such as; &, including a, film; it is requisite to enclose the name of its' title, in double quotes; &, to maintain proper capitalizations.

Saw him once in NYC appearing for Audrey Hepburn. Tall, slim and great looking he was absolutely charming.
Captain Ahab He had the great voice.
Grandson Ethan Peck now co-stars on "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" as Mr. Spock.
Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend ❤

Gregory Peck was a wonderful actor, a handsome man and a true gentleman.

He was quite good in “Sea Wolves.”
i need him so bad
Loved him!!! To kill a mockingbird is one of my all time favorite movies,,, OF ALL TIME.
Pork Chop Hill will be one of my favorite movies with Mr. Peck as the leading role.
Funny , but today they were showing The Big Country on the BBC, watched it all the way through and loved it, rest in peace Mr Peck and thank you.
So he names a movie about a man bringing up the son of Satan (the Omen) after his son who died by his own hand. Did I miss something?
I guess for him was just another movie. Is not real
Sacrifice , maybe.. you don’t make it big without it..
To kill a Mockingbird was my favorite.

He was brilliant in the Scarlet and the Black. 😊
I thought so, too! Always 'pushing the enemy'...as far as he could!!!!

Moby Dick, Twelve O'clock High were my personal favorite films!😃
General Savage in "12 O'Clock High"..
Without a doubt, To Kiĺl A Mocking Bird. One of the best of the best, and for certain one of the best actors of his time.
The Big Country a great movie not being mentioned.
His grandson plays Spock in Star trek discovery (series 2) and Strange new worlds. Guessing he's Anthony's son?
Ethan certainly got his grandfather’s voice. It’s like butter.
