Thank you! And, I’m with you: I always find myself more attracted to covers that have the energy of Eddie even if they don’t have *exactly* the same notes or phrasing as Eddie. It is VERY hard to achieve both. I’m still working at it.
That was so good. One of the better versions ive heard. Great ear. Great technique. I want to ask for a bit more delay in your tone...but you played so clean it didnt matter.
Thanks, brother! It's funny, this was such a rough "on the spot" take, that I didn't even bother to get the settings right. In fact, I completely forgot to flip on the Phase 90!
Excellent playing!! The last note that Eddie played (low E harmonic) I think he uses a delay pedal for that. That's what it sounds like. He sets it at a continuous frequency and he turns a dial down slowly to a low E so the note would keep ringing. Other music books say he does a bar dive, but it doesn't sound like it.
Thank you! And yes, I think you're right. It definitely does not sound like a bar dive to me, and I've heard that he used the delay pedal for that somewhere else before. Man, was he creative or what?
That N4 has killer tone! The sheer looseness and natural ability come through in your playing. That's what made Eddie the best rock guitarist of all time. I love Nuno's playing but he doesn't have it. You did good, man, Ed would agree!
It’s a raw guitar, to be sure, and the primary one I play. Has a lot of bite and just sounds downright mean at times. Love both Eddie and Nuno, but agree they are definitely not the same player. For one thing: Nobody swings like Eddie. Thanks for watching, brother!

Thanks, dude! These days I try to practice about 2 - 3 hours per day. However, I have five children, so I don't always get that amount of practice in : ) Eruption is weird to practice, largely because of Eddie's super quirky (but awesome) manner of playing. For me, I just took each little section and put it to a metronome ramp. The full track doesn't fit well to a metronome, but you can fit various sections just to get them under your fingers, then slowly begin to stitch the entire thing together. I'm still working on it; always so much to improve! Thanks for watching.
Yo dude, thanks so much! Honestly, set up is pretty basic. I’m using a Friedman PTV2. Pedals are just echoplex and hall of fame reverb through the fx loop. Didn’t even remember to put on my phase 90, haha. Let me know if you want amp settings. Cheers!
Thank you! Eruption is a monster, and I'm still working hard at mastering it. Best advice I can give is to break it down into very small bits and take each section obnoxiously slowly. From there, while the tune as a whole doesn't fit neatly to a click track, I found using a metronome ramp (UA-cam this) for each section extremely helpful for getting them up to speed. Happy playing!
