Who cares. Ride bikes, have fun!
Thats Trek's slogan 😂
But agree with you!
@@JohnnyHMG genuinely, I didn't know that. They say something about feeling good as well, I usually feel knackered after a ride.
Especially if it is mondraker (:
Very true! As long as you're out riding and enjoying mountain biking who cares?!
Transition Bikes! They are made by active riders who lead the pack in developing progressive bike geometry.
Transition all day long woooo….
Transition and Commencal didn't get onto the geo game until Santacruz changed the game in 2015. All their bikes were short and until then.
Martyn, next time ask this question: "If you could only have one bike for the next 10 years, what would you have? And you can't pick a bike you currently own."
wasnt that the previous one
Scott have truly come a long way - 10 time World champion Nino rides the Scott Spark RC which is a dream…
Glad to hear Orange Bikes on this list, they always blow my mind away when I see them
It's Nukeproof for me but damn, Forbidden's high-pivot frame speaks to me on many levels.
Evil, YT, and Yeti make some sexy bikes
Evil is my favorite 😈
I'll say Kona. Mine is green, has a Sasquatch sticker, and helped me get back to biking after years away. At a trailhead, I even heard a kid say, "Now THAT is a cool bike!"
I agree have a kona 153 awesome bike
I have a Kona Sutra that I love. I rode it from coast to coast across the entire United States last year.
I have a unit x and a shonky and I LOVE them!!! Some of my favorite bikes I own!
Honzo dude here :D
01 Stinky Deluxe, 02 Stab Primo, modified them through the years. Still have them. My 08 Stinky, not as cool.
I gotta say Evil is starting to climb up there in the U.S. They have the best bike name and colors. Wreckoning, Following, Offering, Calling, in Blackout Drunk or Angry Dolphin.
Agreed
im sorry but the only thing climbing up is the number of snapped frames from Evil
Agreed too, Evil it's very cool
Always reminds me of eminem 😆
There are many cool brands but Kona owns my heart. They can do fun wacky bikes, elegant bikes, useful bikes, everything. But all of them are fun to ride which matters the most
Yeti (was surprised no one mentioned them in the vid) but pleased to see them in the comments a few times - Turquoise, Tomac, Missy, sliding Yetiman logo 😎
I have a 303 RDH in white and turqoise. I love that bike, but hate that I can't get parts for it any more.
Coolest bike I ever had was a Banshee.
Phantom MK1 - back in 2014/2015 when short travel „aggressive“ 29er full suspension was just a very small niche - pretty much just the Transition Smuggler and the Banshee Phantom come to mind when I remember those times.
My Phantom was just clear coated alu which looked so super timeless to me.
Plus the handling of that bike/frame was just so insane.
The recent models are still so cool looking to me, even though they changed the suspension design.
Who remembers Ellsworth mountain bikes? Beautiful anodised aluminium bikes 👍
Had a Rogue, loved that bike, not very popular brand for whatever reason
I was at the bike show when they launched the Truth and Dare.. I even got to give them a peddle round the pump track at the NEC
There's a few gentleman around where I live that still ride those
rocky mountain / santa cruise / yeti / gary fisher / klein...
i have a canyon :)
first proper mountain bike i saw was an orange (forget the model) and was around 1990/1 and i later went on to buy a white trek 950 in 1991 after upgrading from my raleigh montage atb..
Do you remember Fat Chance? I thought they had cool bikes back in the day. Now, I would say Orbea followed by Scott (with their hidden shock).
Honda for sure. Their dh bike is almost 20 years old and it still looks futuristic. Not to mention how rare they are
at the moment i go with a Scott Spark but the coolest Bikes are YETI A.R.C and Fat Chance Yo Eddy 🙂
Pace will always be my favourite brand after owning an RC200 25 years ago, until it was stolen, square tubing man, and finished in chrome, it was epic 👌 If I was in the market and had the cash I wouldn't be looking anywhere else personally
I would love a 29er version of the pace RC200
@@andrewcockburn7484 yes man! They keep teasing me with promo emails for the rc295 😍 One of the biggest things I remember was the feel of the rc35s, such a good fork for it's time and felt like it had way more travel than it did, I had full xt components, Chris king headset, all built by hardisty cycles in the North East, the bike was epic man 👌
@@tidyjimmy I used to have an rc200 but it cracked around the seatube/BB weld 😢. Being rational, it didn't ride any better than the Marin it replaced, but it looked awesome.
I bought an RC627 a couple years ago and absolutely love it ❤
Coolest & most modern = YETI. Frame geo & linkage = Pivot.
Its cool hearing all the UK brands.. in the US its very rare to see alot of those brands on any trail here. But i do have to say Im LOVING my CANYON Spectral :On
The coolest bike brand is Cannondale in the 1990's. No one comes close anymore. :) Though Klein in the 90's was a close second.
I have always loved orange they are made less than 30 miles form me started on a hard tail 28 years ago then the first Orange5 in 2004 then in 2020 I got a new orange5. my old one is still in perfect order my wife rides it. Going forward would be a Alpine6 or maybe a Santa Cruz.
I feel pretty lucky. Me and the wife ride SC tall boys, son is on a Chameleon and the daughter is on a highball. I have become a fan of Nukeproof after watching Blake on his Scout.
Love my Santa Cruz Tallboy in oxblood, but the Lefty Ocho fork on my Cannondale hard tail is the coolest bit of kit on any of my bikes! 😊
Yeti is up there, but Orange 🍊 is a good shout
Orange definitely. $th Orange hopefully soon in the Phase 29er. Love em" and
, always will
For me it has to be kona. Especially the older ones with the whacky names like lavadome and caldera. The stinky in particular though tops my list of the coolest bikes.
I'm going to say Cotic, because I still love my 26"er Soul, but also Stanton for local Derbyshire vibes.
For me it's Hope, there's just something magical about the company and their products. I ride a Trek but wish I could afford a Hope.
Hope is a dangerous thing..
I love it when Martyn goes all roving reporter. He's very good at it.
I've always been a GT guy. Don't know why really. Although, I do want an NS dirt jumper. And the Marin El Roy looks awesome.
Yeti gets my vote. When I first got into biking, my favorite bike shop at the time's hero brand was Yeti. I lusted for a 575 for years. Also a big fan of them since they're out of my home state (Colorado).
Orange is my personal favourite, saw them in my local bike shop when I was a kid and always wanted one!
Santa Cruz definitely have something cool about their brand. The Californian vibes. Scott, Specialized, Trek, Giant are all a bit big and corporatey and slightly boring as a brand. Transition, Yeti, YT, Orbea all seem a bit cooler I think. Canyon - the do it all brand that is good bang for the buck. End of the day … ride what you love and can afford
Liking this short question series! keep them coming 👍🏻 you missed Bowhead in the opening brand sequence😉🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thanks, Philip! We really enjoyed heading out and speaking to everyone! 👊
definitely Intense, cool history, cool vibe, great bikes, and I mean, Aaron Gwin. I ride a Carbine and absolutely love it.
I'm thinking that Santa Cruz Nomad must be a pretty cool bike.
I own a Nomad CC 2018 - can confirm that it's amazing.
For old-school i have to agree that Klein has some sweet older bikes and paint jobs. For newer bikes, i have to go with we are one. Canadian made, beautiful bikes and trim levels.
Klein attitude , Deffo the most sexy pain schemes ever.. I tried for ages (unsuccessfully) to get the limit edition glow in the dark attitude aimed right at the 24 hour riding guys!!! So beautiful
A yeti arc and a gt Zaskar, old school, 🤘👌
Modern bikes I'd go for Lapierre (although I ride a Whyte) but my 'coolest' bike is a rigid 30yr old Kona Hahanna which I blast around a local 10km loop when I just need some fresh air.
Transition for sure! Built for the party!
Whyte, love my 905
Specialized and Canyon's are some of my personal fav....
Liteville... the 301 has had adjustable shock travel (120-140-160) mullet, and size specific frame/wheel sizing, as well as as adjustable headsets to accomodate complimentary forks (12016) and all while probably being the stiffest and lightests 4bar suspension and all this since like 2013
Atherton. Given the green light to spend what it would take to get one to the US, that would be my first choice right now.
American Eagle and Peugeot! :D Well I used to ride those in the past. My dad has a Trek 7000 with which he did races in the 90's and now I bought myself a Trek as well for enjoying cross-country riding. Love the Trek. As for other brands I think Cube,Scott and Orbea seem to look awesome as well.
Niner! #ninerd They were the first to go all in on 29 inch wheels. Absolutely love my RKT9RDO. Also they come with "Pedal, damn it" sticker and a stem cap you can put your favorite beer bottle cap on. And they have Kirt Voreis as their brand ambassador. What´s not to like?
Antidote is the coolest for me right now. For old school you can't go past Yeti, Klein or Pace. Cook Bros. were the coolest component brand though :D
Great to hear Orange bikes get a mention.
I just ordered a Spectral so I must say... Yeti. I don't know if it's the colour, frame design or both but they're seriously cool looking bikes.
How did nobody say Yeti?!!!
@@eMCee62 Because there really uncool?
Something about Specialized always makes me wish I went with them when I see one on the trail. I'm very happy with my Marin, but they just always make me that little bit envious.
I always dreamt about Specialized and I bought one for my birthday. And I am the happiest man alive riding my Stumpjumper! 🥳
I love my Specialized
Rockhopper elite First mtb and ohhh man I’m spoiled
Coolest mainstream MTB brand: Kona, Santa Cruz, Yeti
Pushing the envelope of bikes: Nikolai, Commencal, Mondraker
Coolest bespoke MTB:
Sklar, Starling, Black Sheep
When I was growing up it was an Orange that I always wanted. Now perhaps Haibike? I think for something to be truly cool at can't be one of the big brands... needs to be a little bit niche.🙂
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Cannondale as they were manufactured not far from me. I’m currently riding a Specialized.
Santa Cruz, mondraker, forbidden, and Scor
Orbea 🥰 stylish, light and lifetime warranty, own two models and never had a problem
Kona, for mind... First real mountain bike I owned. Currently ride a Banshee, a Trek (x2) and a Nukeproof 🤘
Claude Butler or Muddy Fox!
I always loved GT bicycles. It's a shame they don't build much xc oriented bikes anymore. Now waiting on my Scott Spark rc
Loving my 2021 GT Zaskar expert, solid hardtail.
GT was amazing for their time! Too bad they name got ruined by schwinn! Loved my GT. Rode it for 10 years s of amazing and Epic adventures! Do miss the early of MTB!
Coolest brand ATM - prob Santa Cruz or Nukeproof. Of all time? Bontrager. I had a Race Lite in the 90's - glorious. Def one of the greatest steel hardtails of all time.
Of the old school brands, 1990s Cannondales (wild colours, fillet brazed, oversized aluminium frames), Gary Fisher (Mt. Tam, Hoo-Koo-E-Koo), Chas Roberts (I am a sucker for fillet brazing)....but I really liked my Rock Lobster Team Tig 853 (Reynolds 853). Also Titus for their bold, progressive geometry titanium frames (I have a Fireline Evo now). Of the modern brands, Nukeproof, Forbidden and Orbea impress me.
I like Rocky Mountain, but lately I'm all for small custom brands like Reeb, Project12 and Stanton.
Orange were a cool brand, for me they lost their way a bit, but then they’d probably argue I had too 🤣
This discussion has parities with car brands, both you pay a shed load of money and some for what’s deemed cool, but what more do you get over a “less cool” brand? Nowt!
Thank you for your reply GMBN, much appreciated!
Definitely for me Specialized I really think there always looking forward with there bikes!! Specially the Ebikes they are the apple off the bike world so yeah specialized for me 👍🏻👍🏻
My favorite is Rocky Mountain, but all mountain bikes are cool looking.
Lol Santa Cruz has been the coolest for ages. I remember the v10 and the bullet being the thing to have back in the day when I started riding around 2002.
Santa Cruz is the actual answer, so leave them out of this, lol, clearly they OWN that title.
Where I'm from, Santa Cruz were exclusive to pro-riders or career professionals. Regular putzes like me and the boys were lucky to have Konas, Rockys, GTs and Specialized. But Santa Cruz was THE coolest and most unattainable brand. Some things never change :'(
Interesting question? I kinda think it's the brands that align with your personal values and ideals whatever they might be! Attitude, style, environmental/community involvement, design, etc etc, whatever aligns with what you feel or believe is important to you.
Canyon sponsoring you , definitely adds to their coolness
Santa Cruz doesn’t really do it for me, I think it’s the smaller brands that produce something a bit different that stands out!🤔
I personally love my Commencal, but coolest bikes have to be a split between Forbidden and Antidote. The dreadnought and woodsprite are hard to beat.
isen't like that you like the brand you currently riding? I'm totale in fore Orbea i have a Rallon and one Occam and so super satisfied with them. So my brand will be Oebea, I changed from Bianchi to Orbea on my road bike as well.
The coolest bike brand ever is the one that you own that puts a smile on your face every time you ride it.
Great video 😃 cannondale of course ❤
As the proud new owner of a new nomad V6 im gonna have to say Santa Cruz. Great brand and a bike that is really easy to get along with.
I think Nukeproof might have the coolest name, how much better can it get than impervious to nukes? Maybe Ragley though, they have great bikes and they're inexpensive, can't go wrong there either. Everybody makes cool bikes though, when I was a kid it was Giant that we all wanted to ride.
I have a Whyte and to be honest they do some pretty crazy bikes
YT Industries, love my Capra
Intense as I'm on it now. But overall, Santa Cruz for the bike. Tied between TLD and Fox for the kit 😎
Slingshot was the coolest bike growing up with that cable downtube.
That new pole vikkela in gold with no chain stay is insane!
My Vitus Sommet 27.5! 😝🤘
It WAS Santa Cruz BUT now they have sold their soul to Pon. So the new cool brand is Revel.
Specialized eta al are great brands; some of the best but they are not cool when they're ubiquitous. Cool brands in my mind are brands that have history and are special such as Paul Love, Chris King, Phil Wood, Spinergy, White Industries, Ellsworth, Dean, Orange Bikes and so many other brands that keep on going decade after decade and even when they are gone still loved, that's cool.
Jamis was not on my radar, at all. After riding the Jamis Hardline with Fox Factory suspension, was sold and then bought it. Chunky Boone NC Rocky Knob trail was like Thanksgiving dinner with the family, gobbled up and fun times with my MTB family.
I'm liking the Canyon bikes Sam Pilgrim is riding now.
Also a fan of Nukeproof like Blake Samson rides.
I love oldschool Norco A Line, De vinci and Astrix. So cool 👌
Nukeproof and Evil got really cool bikes and names 😂👉
Got to give a shout out for orange, like Cannondale as well.
As already said: So many. bike-wise I'd go for Nicolai, .... kit-wise: Troylee & Fox & DHarco ... brake-wise: Trickstuff & Magura, ...
Marin. The El Roy is my dream bike.
Intense, yeti, foes.
I had a beautiful Cannondale hardtail Lefty about 10 years back. $5000 bike, but had it stolen in China. Broke my heart...and so, like all first loves, it will remain the coolest bike for me.
Ridden Marin for the last 20 years so I will give them a vote but first brand that I thought of was Fat Chance. Old school cool.
New to mountain biking
I always go to the smaller companies and what you don't see much of in my parts.
I love my Whyte 905 but I would probably pick Yeti because they are just gorgeous and rare
I'm digging Vitus bikes a lot!
Orange all the way for me, their hard tails just epitomise everything cool about hard tails
I'm with you Martyn....i don't know as all the bike brands out there, their top bikes are all damn nice, I have to admit though santa cruz doesn't come up 1st for me, i will come back to you.....
Marin San Quentin especially the 2023 issue. It incorporates dirt jump geometry into the hardtail design. A bit large though.
But if I have the money, I will definitely get a Santa Cruz.
Marin has nice looking bikes.
Banshee for me, got a Mondraker and Santa Cruz, but my enigma is my favourite, saving the the hard earned for the new rune, just don’t tell the missus 😂
