Grateful you are humbly influencing others on these eco friendly alternatives + minimalism. It’s one of the important things the western world really needs right now.
I’ve have actually forced my parents todo a few zero waste things too I’m 13 btw and we live in Ohio where pretty much nothing is zero waste so you have definitely influenced us and thank you so much #zerowaste 😊
You are truly inspiring. Your comment made my day. Lots if love from South Africa.
Wow!!! ❤
At 13??? That's actually incredible
That’s great! Make sure that you do research on every product you swap though because sometimes they’re more harm than good
Please share the things you’ve done and the tips you’ve learnt! I’d love to cut down on at least 50% of my waste this year or next year! Every and any tip would help me out. ^^
Reusable napkins, glass storage containers, laundry balls, using baking soda as deodorant are at the top for me! I’m not zero waste but I’m low waste. I’m having a baby in a couple weeks (my third) and this time I’m doing reusable diapers. Wish me luck 🍀
Dish towels from the thrift and lots of beautiful cloth napkins instead of paper napkins.
I LOVE finding hand embroidered hand towels, pillow cases and funky cloth napkins at thrift stores.
I recently got some of my old cloths re-spun thanks to one of your videos I saw of you doing it! They’re actually really nice, and it’s just like paying for a new set of cloths! And a great way to eliminate waste!
Love every time I see your plants in the background 💚…. Can you please make a video of your plant collection?????😃🪴
Not sure if this has saved me the most money out of my changes but i switched to those cotton dryer balls and haven't bought those single use dryer sheets in years now! Also i stopped getting rashes from some of my clothes which im guessing was from the stuff that was on the dryer sheets
Your clothes get dry faster with the balls so you can do a shorter dryer cycle and use less energy as well!! If you ever get static it's from over drying.
I'm so glad I found your channel. I've been able to finally make so many good changes in my home. Thanks for keeping it realistic and able to obtain!
Not charging phones etc overnight!! Wastes loads of electricity! I never need 100% battery anyway so I just charge it when I need it and always remember to turn it off and unplug once I've got all I need! Xx
I would say most households in Europe do have those zero waste things at home ! I am pretty happy to see that I lived zero waste in the kitchen without even really noticing 😅
I reuse all jars l get from the supermarket, 😊❤
They are also really good to use with those tea light candles
Egg carton seed starters. Dollar tree bar mop rags for drying hands and no eating out
Definitely washable pads and period cups! Game changers, money savers! I haven't bought any in two years!
Yes! Rags instead of paper towels; using glass jars for food storage; and silicone baking mats--no need to grease them, and I never seem to burn things anymore 😊
Definitely my soap bars I wash my hand so often that every 2 weeks I was buying new soap! But I switched to a soap bar and split it in half and it has lasted me so long!
Have you tried solid bath products? I'm a huge fan of solid shave, shampoo, conditioner and lotion bars.
@@daniellemartin9896 no but I will definitely add that to my cart I buy hair products every month that would save so much money! Thx 😊
Paper towels for sure. We purchased two sets of “in paper towels” from a small business nearly two years ago and between them and kitchen wash cloths (from Target admittedly) we haven’t missed paper towels one day. We also have more storage space for our glass storage containers.
The biggest money saving sustainability tip I learned was just how to store produce properly so I’m not throwing away half of what I buy when it spoils too fast 😅
This is the first time that I see something like this. I see tons of videos of people restocking products that yes, look good on the shelves and fridge but are harmful for all the empty calories and preservatives they have, products that are packed individually resulting in many more plastic and money waste.
Thank you for this kind of content, you and your home not only look amazing but also are friendly with our planet. I'm definitely making changes starting today.
I started to make my own laundry and dish washer tablet :)
I got my mum to switch from laundry detergent and pods(that stuck and ruined my clothes) to laundry sheets! Really proud of that. Not a lot but still something yk? 16 year old fan here ❤
i’ve been using a steel water bottle for 6 years and i never buy plastic water bottles anymore- ever. my water bottle comes with me everywhere. most places that serve drinks will fill it for you too if you ask nicely :). other than that, i love my bamboo makeup removing rounds! and i just made the swap to washable reusable cotton “paper towels” for the kitchen! 😊
In our house we have been doing these things for ages. Cloth rags, glass boxes, soap bars. We don't really label anything but genuinely it has always been like this growing up🤷🏾♀️
So so good!!!
Giant Tiger 5 pack dish cloths. I also use the unbleached (brown) paper towels for non-liquid spills like frying oil, then it goes right in the green bin
I got a bentgo box instead of plastic bags for school lunches
I’ve been nagging my parents about zero waste swaps for about 3 years now and we’re still not perfect but we have definitely reduced our plastic waste by a lot :) so if you’re a kid then it’s still possible to switch to zero waste.
I haven’t purchased paper towels in about 5 years.
Where did you get your lids for reused jars?
Yes where
Awesome!
I love my reusable food bags and glass jars from sauces!
Just curious, where do you buy your clothing? I’m in the market for better quality and things that last! But it’s been difficult with all this fast fashion.
I love my reusable ziplock bags!
I don’t have Autism but I have adhd and I agree on the overhead lights. I just hate artificial lights and prefer natural sunlight
Lots of people are mentioning dryer balls, and I want to remind everyone to clean lint out of their dryers! Dryer balls are amazing, and we can improve the situation even more! Deep cleaning the dryer prevents house fires, reduces allergens, keeps your clothes in better shape, and allows your dryer to work more efficiently (less electricity). I love when ethical and economical line up 😊
Your cat is adorable 😭❤️
How do you sanitize a wooden dish brush?
What about cleaning up oils? I like rags, but use paper towels for oil.
Use paper towels for things like that. Use the resuable one for small messes or just cleaning.
I would buy a bamboo toothbrush, but I don’t have the coordination/skills to brush my teeth properly. I need to use a electric one, but I do plan on going zero waste in everything else.
Hey!
I noticed healthy matters to you and I wanted to mention anthotoxins from fungus, which apparently are present in 99% of peanut samples world wide due to silo storage moisture.
Apparently, it is an issue that leads to cancer and toxicity in the body.
I don't know if organic peanut butter is different...but I thought I'd share.
Im having a tough time eating peanut butter right now.
I may just mentally swipe it left, tbh, I don't know if I can handle another "restriction" on a whole food.
😢
Coincidentally I had many many wash cloths given to me by a relative. I don’t buy paper towels anymore either. I just use the cloths I designated for the kitchen until I gotta wash them.
Making bone broth
Homemade flavored popcorn
Homemade shortbread cookies
Not eating out
Keeping my house at 60 in winter and 78-80 in summer
Second hand clothes for kids
Selling crap I don’t use
Bottles for water
Those $1 for 5 gallons of filtered water stations
No more paper towels
Showering 1-2 times a week
Now I just need to figure out how to make homemade booze
Oh I also cut my own hair as well as the kids.
I love that the majority of this is the reason I am called cheap 😂
Where did you get the lids for the spaghetti jars to make them drinking glasses? ***Anyone can feel free to answer***
what do you think about beeswax wraps? do you use them? 🤗
Where did you get your containers from!
The jars as cups is awesome! But what about the lid?
Buying a gallon of organic witch hazel from mountain rose herbs and pouring into an amber glass spray bottle. I reuse the gallon jug for other things. No mor 16 Oz. single use witch hazel bottles.
Just discovered your channel today and so glad I did!
Btw has anyone noticed how beautiful her eyes are?
*Hey !* Just discovered your channel. =D Love & appreciate your content.
I was unconsciously always planning on living a zero-waste lifestyle once I care for myself, as well ^_______^
Your videos helped me learn about the recourses we all got And gave me motivation & even excitement for this goal and life destination & changes I'm able to make a habit out of, now and in the future sense ofc.
You seem like a loving person ! All the best to you ❤ (=
How do u wipe after you use the bathroom
Where is the soap dish and soap rack from or is it one whole dish?
Question: Does have a car included in not being zero waste or do you ride the bus everywhere?
How often do you wash your rags? I don't want to have gross rags but don't want to waste water?
blueland
ur such an inspirationn
I know you’re vegan but can you still use the paper towels for things like patting meat ?
What do you use instead of tissues?
Where do u get soap bar from??
Umm … idk about the bar soap as dish detergent you got me there …
It's a solid dish soap, not regular body soap. It's specifically formulated for dish washing. Just like solid shampoo or conditioner bars are specifically formulated to perform their designated purposes. I wouldn't wash my hand with dish soap or body soap, so I wouldn't wash my dishes with shampoo
Hi! Can you share where you got your bottle brush from? I have one and it’s super flimsy and bends a lot when using it. I’d love something a little more structured like yours! ❤
Lol just kidding - I found it!
But those glass containers have plastic on them..
So.
If you go through a brush every 8 months that’s not zero waste is it?
Reusable menstrual products
“Breaking cracking” hmm sounds like glass 💀
What out skin care?
I stopped using fabric softener, which is bad for the environment, your clothes and your washing machine. I use citric acid now, which is a multi-purpouse product, very usefull all around the house.
Can u pin a link???
Compostable scrub daddy
Aluminium foil is biodegradable
And it'll take hundreds if not thousands of years to biodegrade. It's not sustainable
Aluminum should be recycled, not left to break down, it is not a renewable resource and has to be mined if enough isn't recycled
@@daniellemartin9896 agreed
@juliamoreno3219 so buy the time we die all the shit ur doing now isn't going to matter anyways it will all change again. Do what feels right to you but not based on what you hear and think will be around in the future when doing zero waste.
U r so beautiful
anything you buy harms our environment lol we’re all guilty
Making the swap to sustainable costs too much money
No it doesn't. You use up what you have and then buy the sustainable replacement one at a time. She's done a break down and comparison on the costs. The actual sustainable approach costs less than standard wasteful practices.
@daniellemartin9896 when I moved out I got a 60 piece set of Tupperware made of plastic for $38.99, to replace with glass costs $43.95 for only 4 pieces, it is not cheap to go sustainable and plastic free.
@@BluePanda37 see that's where youre going wrong, the sustainable solution is to USE WHAT YOU HAVE until it cannot be fixed and then replacing with intention and forthought.
Anyone in the sustainable space that's advocating for buy new "sustainable" products is not living a low waste lifestyle at all because replacing perfectly good items just because they are plastic is not sustainable at all. The most sustainable thing you can do is reuse and repurpose, not re-purchase. That means that yes, I do have some glass good containers because I needed them (you can prep, cook and store food in glass and I don't have a microwave so my glass goes in the oven for reheating) but I also have pasta sauce jars and random plastic containers from sour cream that I use for food storage or plants or whatever. Because THAT is the sustainable path.
@daniellemartin9896 my plastic containers are pasta stained, scratched and should have been out the door long ago. When considering throwing them out I am faced with the dilemma of 60 cheap plastic replacements, or a fortune on long lasting glass but so little in quantity.
Not a kitchen swap, but my safety razor has saved me SO much money. Bought a rockwell for $15 and an assorted pack of 100 (!) blades for $12, verses a pack of fancy venus razor blades are like $6 a blade. Plus as someone who deals with a lot of ingrown hairs and skin irritation, the single blade of the safety razor has been so much better on my skin!
YAAAASSSSS! Love to hear this
Growing my own food, composting, make own cleaning products, bulk dry goods
i wanna grow my own food so bad, unfortunately can't do it outside due to an hoa and can't do it inside due to my cat ;-;
I wash my face with cloth pads. They've lasted 2+ years now! Also, for periods, I use cloth bamboo pads. Fantastic.
Diva cup! No more tampons or pads in my house! Plus going to zero waste stores
I buy hand soap at a farmers market
Ive always been looking for ways I can be more sustainable to help keep this beautiful earth beautiful! I love that you're teaching me, and many others how to do this!
Using natural loofahs and sea sponges for bathing instead of plastic loofahs. Plan on using wooden brushes and sea sponges for washing dishes as well.
I'm just starting my journey and I have a teenager so sure I won't be perfect but I have swapped to dish soap bar , shampoo bar , forever razor like yours and deodorant paste . X
I still have paper napkins for the spills and messes that are too gross to use linen/cloth but I’ve mostly switched over to reusable cloth napkins or rags
No paper towels. Home canning soup and beans. I get ingredients in bulk and the jars are 100% reusable. Tge cost is half or less of store bought.
Diva cup hands down. $20 a month for life?! No thanks!
I’ll usually cut up old clothes mostly my pants(since they wear out faster) when they start getting holes and use it as dish rags.
I love reusing jars to drink out of. Or to store things in. 😅 I have also saved couple plastic containers for food storage because why not?
I swapped to reusable cotton pads for my periods! Been doing it for 6 years and never regretted it.
The hard part is convincing someone who is frugal. Some see the long term benefits, others just see the price tag.
Period panties is my fave swap! Also recently got a laundry dryer hall. Just beginning a low waste journey 🤗. When I use up my sponges I’ll probably switch to the bamboo brushes, although I do reuse my sponges a lot!
Love these videos! I dont think i have the money to get a lot of these items atm but its definitly something i wanna work towards
Pleeeease make a video about clothes, where you buy them, what you wear, anything! I'd love that
I absolutely love your account. It makes me feel like I can implement things like this and start helping.
I save all my containers food comes in for tupperwear! So many old salsa jars full of leftovers go home with my friends! ❤
What are the glass food containers you're using?
refillable cleaning products - they're SO MUCH cheaper!
have u tried the beeswax cling wraps?
Sustainability VHEMT. Save money also VHEMT. It's fun for the whole fa.... um It's fun for you 😊
Have you tried bees wax wraps?
We have paper towels ( napkins)in the kitchen for wiping hands and wiping noses? I dont see myself doing that with dishrags? Do you use paper towels for cleaning?
Using rags is my whole personality right now
I wanna know if there is a way to make liquid dish soap from the dish soap bar ? Similar to how I make 5 gal liquid laundry soap from one laundry soap bar
Thanks for your inspiration 💚
This is truly going to sound silly, but i remembered i can just attach an old dish cloth to our swiffer sweeper to help pick up all the pet hair. It took me a long time to just do that instead of using the sweeper pads you throw out
