Nice review. I'm a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd generation Rokit line for affordable home DJ use (I don't produce) I'm just a little curious why you chose to review the G3s now when the G4s have been out for well over a year. Aren't the G3s (monitors not sub) discontinued, or am I mistaken? Once one of my G2 Rokit 5 stopped working correctly I bought a pair of the new G4 Rokit 8s. I bought them without listening to them first because I watched a few reviews talk about all the "improvements" in sound quality so I thought since I love the older generations it's a no brainer, but I'm not sure I like the sound they produce compared to all the older Rokits I've heard. At least for the style of music I play and my home studio acoustic might definitely play a roll in that as well. I'd be interested to hear your opinion of these G3 Rokit 5s verses the new G4 Rokit 5s if you can get your hands on some. I think it would make a great follow-up video. Cheers
Thanks Phil, I already got the KRK 5's and have wondered whether I should add the 8S2 subwoofer. Not sure what the other family members will think though! How is it for home setup beatmixing as I currently have the 5's angled towards me but if we are cutting off the base to the monitors I wouldn't want it to hamper my mixes. I'll likely position it on the floor directly under the controller but guess it'll be a case of just trying it out. Another one to add to my ever growing GAS list!
Add a pedal so you can easily turn it off if you get any complaints from the family. I have that exact setup would defo recommend the 8s2 you won't look back 👍
That's the one I use. It has to be a latching one from memory. I got the wrong type originally and had to return it. You had to keep your foot on that one which obviously is no good for this purpose
Phil states at the end they are not for Producing and He is correct. For some budget Home listening/DJ speakers KRK may be worth a look but they have a 'muddy' sound, at this price point go for the JBL 305/308, Adam T5v/T7v, Yamaha HS5, HS8
@@digitaldjtips thanks for the reply... gonna invest in these based on the review here and on your website. Just one question if that's ok? Would the KRK S8G4 compliment them well? as the KRK 8S2 isn't available to me where i want to buy.
Might as well just get a pair of kali audio lp-8's the pair is cheaper than that krk bundle and you can use them for mixing as well. The have super clean mids and low end with crisp clear high end.
Great vdo! I've been thinking to buy a pair of those for practicing at home or invest a bit more for my mobile dj set up so that I could use at home and gigs as well. Do you have a vdo about the best mobile dj speakers or similar? I would love to see a vdo about that as well. 🙏👍
They are ok, but if you have good ears that can hear the difference between 16bit and 24bit, then go for the yamaha HS8 line. They provide much more detail for similar price.
Depends on the frequencyrange of the sub and your speakers. You dont warnt to miss any frequencys, espessialy if you are producing Sound. Just check these and you will be fine
@@w12n1 can you help me with this? I just checked the numbers but I didn't understand anything 😭 This is the specs for my presonus www.presonus.com/products/Eris-E5-XT/tech-specs and these are the specs for the KRK woofer www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1258276-REG/krk_8s2_na_8_powered_studio_subwoofer.html Thank you
I’ve had the Rokit 5’s first gen for many years of use. These are great for studio monitors or small booth monitors. They are very well built.
Nice one Toby
referenced this video 4 different times for setup information. great content.
Awesome, thank you!

Hola, estoy a punto de comprarme un par de monitores krk clasic 5. ¿Los recomiendas para mezclar?
I had the two monitors and they are good. I sold them and got a QSC K8 for home and gigs.
Got that exact setup really happy with it. I was gonna go bigger but really glad I didn't as it would be too much for the smallish sized room
Nice one Andy

Thanks Andy, great idea 🙂👍 Don't suppose you've got a link to the pedal you're referring to?

My link disappeared for some reason, it's the Boss FS-5L

Thanks for sharing Bigdaz
For DJing which monitors is better front ported or rear one?
hey Phil, any speaker you would recommend for a home dj set up... regal and dub and vinyl only. Thanks in advance!

Yep...speaking the truth. I have the LP-6s. Don't really need a subwoofer.
Certainly another good option
Good Morning, Phil😎. From North Las Vegas💥.

No but we do have some PA reviews on our website (mixed in with monitors): www.digitaldjtips.com/reviews-all/accessories/#type=speakers
They are ok, but if you have good ears that can hear the difference between 16bit and 24bit, then go for the yamaha HS8 line. They provide much more detail for similar price.
HS8 are certainly renowned for their revealing quality and probably better for pure production.
You can’t go wrong with KRKs but at the end of the day buy what suits your room, your ears and your type of music.
Those Yamahas are wallet friendly at least for me lol
Are the classic 5 g3 good
Yes, we have them and can recommend them
Would the S10.4 subwoofer be ok as well?
Haven't tried it but I'm sure it's great
Should I add this sub if I have 7 inch krk monitors?
...or you could go for a bigger sub.
@@digitaldjtips im thinking about not adding too much bass 😁
Did you finally add some bass? I'm in the same doubt
Can't go wrong with them! Classic indeed!
Agreed!
Just to be clear Phil said that bass frequencies are unidirectional BUT he meant to say omnidirectional.
Good spot thanks
I thought it was “non directional”
@@AnthThom Same thing,,different word.
Will this subwoofer sound good with my presonus 5 inch monitors or should I choose a subwoofer from presonus?🙄
Depends on the frequencyrange of the sub and your speakers.
