  • This video will show you how to change the cabin air filter (microfilter) in your BMW F2x, F3x, and F8x chassis cars. BMW recommends changing the cabin air filter ever other oil change interval (20k miles).
    Index:
    0:19 Passenger footwell panel removal
    1:49 Air filter cover removal
    2:43 Air filter removal
    2:53 New air filter installation
    3:21 Air filter cover installation
    3:34 Passenger footwell panel installation
Personally, I like to purchase consumables (like air filters) from FCP Euro (www.fcpeuro.com/), since they make getting replacements very cheap with their lifetime warranties.

When working on your BMW, one doesn't wear cheap Mechanix gloves. Only PIG Alpha gloves for this beast.

Many thanks. Doing this tonight when I get off work... if I can find even one of the ever elusive 10mm sockets. 😂
Looks to be tons easier than the e34 ever was... though the e46 and e83 are the easiest of all.

It was not bad except trying to get the front of the cover back on, till I remembered to try it one side at a time instead of all at once. Then it went in fine.

Hi. My friend has a 2019 BMW X2. Is this the procedure for changing the cabin filter in her car? I ask because you refer to the models as F2x. Are F2x and X2 the same thing? Also, I followed your video in an attempt to change the filter and, it seems there are different nuts holding the first piece on and, not simple 10 MM bolts. Did I just miss the 10MM bolts? Thanks!

The X2 isn't one of the F2x chassis vehicles. Its cabin air filter is located in the central trans tunnel behind the side kick panel where the passenger's left foot would be (same location as in my Mazda 3 cabin air filter change ua-cam.com/video/cWTi6t0Vtr4/v-deo.html).
For the X2 you have to:
      1) Remove kick panel under glove box (just like in the 2/3/4 series video)
      2) Remove the screw on the kick panel on the side of the trans tunnel (wall to the left of passenger's left foot), and pull the panel off (there are clips holding it in)
      3) Press down the tab on the cabin air filter door and pry the door off
      4) Remove the upper air filter behind the door, then remove the lower filter beneath it
      5) Replace the filters with the new ones (and make sure the airflow direction arrows are in the right direction)
      6) Install the covers/panels back again

What is the black vent tube called and what does it connect too?

I'm not sure exactly which part you're referring to, but if you're referring to those tubes that exit the bottom panel, I'm pretty sure those are for the AC.

you inserted the filter wrong, the Arrows should go in the Cabin direction 😅 and not towards the Engine

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  18 годин тому

@@Sky-pb1qs unfortunately you're mistaken. BMW instructions state, "Direction arrow (1) on microfilter (2) must point in direction of travel." meaning vehicle travel, and have a picture with the filter arrow pointing towards the engine. In these cars the intake side is actually the side of the filter facing the cabin (easily verifiable looking at which side of the filter has debris). Additionally, OE aftermarket filter instructions for this vehicle also show the air flow following the same direction.
