That was an absolutely brilliant video. Professional driving at its very best. and compliments to the few motorists who pulled over ,when they actualy saw the blue lights, rather than waiting until the sirens went on..Well done West Sussex Fire and rescue
As an retired Class1 Police driver I must say this is the best advanced driving I have seen on UToob, full stop. That includes the so called police driving videos!
Great driving. Both my parents were trained to do this and they made me a very aware driver because of their skills. I have a lot of respect for all that join the emergency services. Remember, this it's just one skill they must master in order to keep us safe
My goodness there are some stupid commens on here. As the title description says "example of a typical BLR" the clue is there EXAMPLE ! Emergency service drivers have to periodically undergo blue light run assesments in order to carry on being a blue light driver, they have to show they are capable of driving in all types of surroundings - driving conditions and traffic. This is not just a jolly around the countryside and towns wasting taxpayers money ffs.
Gareth Brown What the fuck are you going on about, my comment has nack all to do with parties and 'fun', it's about showing compassion for another human being who was trying to do the right thing and had an incident where he could have been hurt. Maybe if I push your kids off their bikes that'd be fuuny too right? Or are you no fun at parties either...cretin!
ynotnilknarf39 Wow! Tetchy! Yes he was trying to help, and I commend him for that, and yes it's unfortunate that he fell off ... but just because you don't find it funny doesn't mean you should be such a drama queen over it. Lighten up a little!
You guys and girls of the fire service put you lives at risk every day for us. I often complain about paying UK income tax but this video reminded me that, if my house was on fire you would come. Its the public sector workers of the country that keep it moving. keep up the good work
I was starting to wonder where the hell he was going by the time he turned right past Butlins. Had to be a training run, as he dam nigh drove around in a big circle..... Was nice seeing a bit of Sussex though. Its been a while since I've driven those roads. :-)
I think it helps people wake up a bit more, as well as makes it easier for road users and pedestrians to pick up where it is coming from. A constantly wailing siren might be a background noise unnoticeable to some (worrying if they are driving, I know!) but also changing tone and its sudden wail from off to on can hep a driver pin point the direction the fire engine is coming from a little better too I think.
@MarkMck1994 New Fire Appliances are limited to 56mph when driving normally. When blue lights are activated the limiter turns off, 80mph is about the max speed you will be able to get up to not 100mph
@urbex2007 driving on the other side of the island (or a median) is completly okay and normal. And here it is also completly normal that cars standing at an intersection, have to move slowly over the red light into the intersection when an emergency vehicle approaches
History of the British Police Force. 90 minute documentary programme charting the development of the world's first police force from Robert Peel to the present day. Good for GCSE SHP crime and punishment exam paper 2 in June 2008.
Because the rules and regulations say that they are only suppose to have the sirens on when their is motorist near by or when approaching a junction otherwise it's only the blues no siren, as it causes a disturbance.
mmm not so, the sirens are also a very good indicator for pedestrians walking and so when cars are parked on one or both sides they are also in use and should be, because people cross between those and wont hear otherwise that this is coming. Besides who the hell would complain about the noise.
@urbex2007 I would take issue with your criticisms. 1. No one put in danger at junction , No vehicles emerging intending to turn left no unseen vehicles approaching either otherwise pedestrian would not be casually walking across, driver kept to centre of road until past junction. 2. lawful for driver to use other side of island, there is no one in sight! safer to use opp side, than having to slow down and jink between island and white car at speed in a vehicle loaded with water
The main purpose of "blue light runs" are to make the emergency vehicle drivers aware of possible dangers when out in real emergencies. It also presents the opportunity for drivers to be assessed on how skilled they are at driving with their lights and sirens on. Even though this is a "fake" emergency, it could well lead to more people's lives being saved
I want to be a paramedic when I'm older and I really want to go to an ambulance station and meet a paramedic and ask questions like, was the test for pasting to be a paramedic hard or not
Was that Bognor Regis I saw there? I'm from Australia and haven't been there since 2002. I drive a NSW Rural Fire Service truck and our trucks change from wail to yelp and back again when you hit the horn as well. Only Hi-Lo has to be dialled in manually.
@urbex2007 3. driver turned siren off and didnt pressure car in any way, what do you expect him to do? car had plenty of time to turn right onto roundabout look again from 10:31. vehicle could easily have moved out of the way
I don't think you understand. This "typical shout" is only for making sure drivers can safely and responsibly drive the emergency vehicles in traffic of many densities. Light runs are usually recorded for later reference - they are usually a long length anyway. There was no emergency that the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were responding to in this certain appliance at this time. Furthermore, there is no zooming in at 9:35 that is clearly visible.
Long run. Where in heck were they going, so far away? I'm impressed with the driver's ability to negotiate through traffic, using the siren only when necessary, beeping his horn as thanks to people here and there. Such lovely Brit manners, lol. That was fun, thanks for posting!
Keep in mind that it's a 'marked emergency services vehicle'' and operating under flashing lights ... Sirens are used an AUDIBLE warning of the approach of an emergency vehicle and there are longish periods in the vid where that audible warning was clearly unnecessary. Hope this helps :-)
@urbex2007 You clearly have no advanced level driver training. 10:49 - no one was put in danger. 14:40 not careless driving, it's planned and well executed as the safest route through. The requirements of a keep left sign do not apply to emergency vehicles. 24:40 - no one was forced to do anything, the driver was very restrained, not even using sirens and not advancing on the vehicle. All of this would be entirely in keeping with my training to the highest level available in the UK
Nice video but what a route they took! Using Google Maps & Street View I worked out that this started at the Fire Station in St Paul's Road Chichester to Nyton Road - a distance of 5.9 miles and predicted driving time of 16 mins. They seem to have driven to Bognor Regis - headed out towards Littlehampton and finally headed back to their destination via Yapton and Barnham, distance of 14.7m and predicted journey of 34 mins! Obviously they could have been given the wrong destination originally
All heroes 🏆👍🏼😊 but, I wonder how many stations have closed for you to make such a journey to get the place that needed your help???…this government has killed the NHS, fire, sea rescue and police just so their arses can sit in better places....😡😡😡
Graham C Smith kososmiffy Though I agree with your second part of your post, she has only carried on from governments before her.....she will be shutting down the NHS by 2025
Screw them, someone is in need of help. It is smarter to keep it on so anyone in front has more time to get out of the way or someone doesn't walk out on the road all of a sudden.
This was never a shout or Make Pumps!! @ 25 minutes, but just a high speed camera ride,, SHAME on the County Fire Service for putting the JEEBEES ON ALL THESE MOTORISTS & CYCLISTS ETC
Yeah I know, I prefer a constant siren myself. But I guess it works since we don't have large traffic issues. For example, yesterday I seen an ambulance responding, put on his sirens before a junction then switched it off again once he was clear due to an open road. Just need to watch out for the big flashy blue lights.
Otacatapetl Any emergency service that uses lights and sirens, turn off their Sirens if: There is no traffic No where for traffic to go or, if the only place traffic can move out of the way is to cross a Solid White Line. They do not expect you to move, if it means to break the law doing so.

Good driving during what I assume was a training run. Nice to see how helpful the big majority of motorists were in getting out of the way.
SO 🍱
That's a nice piece of driving there. Good use of sirens, too. Fascinating look at traffic patterns in the UK. I enjoyed this one.
spot the chav @ 1:40

1:57 spot the guy falling of his bike lmao
+matthew89461 haha fucking magic!
He was pulling over to the side to help out/get out the way and lost his balance, I don't see that as particularly funny.
ynotnilknarf39 bet you're fun at parties!
Gareth Brown

Not only good driving and considered use of siren and exemptions by responder, but mostly good deviations by everyone else.

Excellent bit of driving Paul. Metropolitan Police panda drivers could learn a lot from you. Particularly the correct use of the siren.
Panda cars don't have sirens.
@BlueLightVids you can hear a photograpers camera clicking away a few times as well.
@Michael1918 lol Fire Engines are not limited... On the motorway they can easily max out at around 100 Mph.
all in all.top class 2 hgv skills.keep the good work up m8
Is it true that if you pull into a bus lane you will get done.
I totally agree with you. Although it isn't the law, I was pretty amazed at this observation as well. Drivers need to have manners these days!
@t1sutton I think, looking at it, is was a good decision for them not to stop, as the speed they were travelling/spacing would have caused a crash.
what was the person thinking that froze at 24:42 in the silver honda. That used to get right on my nerves.
Good video I have always wanted to be a firefighter I can't wait till march then I can sign up

What happend to the guy on the bike at 1.57..did he just fall of it.
Not to mention the eejit at the roundabout ??
Excellent driving though and a good video.

Driver training run, not real shout.
The beeping of the horn alters the siren in the uk.
By 1909, Policemen Bobbies were allowed to use Bicycles.
Great driving BMW driver at 19:40
@Michael1918 Fire Engines are not limited to 56mph
Why do they turn the sirens off at times?
Keep in mind that it's a 'marked emergency services vehicle'' and operating under flashing lights ...
Sirens are used an AUDIBLE warning of the approach of an emergency vehicle and there are longish periods in the vid where that audible warning was clearly unnecessary.
Hope this helps :-)
What vehicle are they driving
Policing in the 21st Century.
Driver training me thinks. Position of camera makes it look like the appliance is on the kerb etc.
Highway Patrol.
Why does the horn keep sounding?
That is how they change the siren tone from one sound to the other, by pressing the horn quickly.
this is driver training. the position of the camera and the camera clicks you can hear in the background gives it away
If it was a shout they would of gone a different way, so definently
@urbex2007 You clearly have no advanced level driver training. 10:49 - no one was put in danger. 14:40 not careless driving, it's planned and well executed as the safest route through. it sounds like someone is taking photos
in the usa it is an offence not to pull over for an emergency vehicle. so we brits are polite, after all...
1:55; cyclist fail
8:03; that pothole didn't get out of the way.
16:31; response mobility scooter!
was this put on for a driver training cus you can hear someone getting very trigger happy with a camera in the back
Am I the only one that can hear the many photos being taken? 🤔 is this for training purposes or am I just hearing things?
Are these sirens commercially available? If anyone has a link I'd appreciate it.
why?
was there someone taking pictures all the time? Always hear that camera sound.
Anyway very nice driving!

the cyclist was funny! really good vid...
25:11 - WTF. 3 car drove past without stopping? Apart from it, great video!
Follow the lrader syndrome. Baaa! Seriously; have to watch that.
Wish i read your comment first.
Would have been quicker to nip down the A27 then through fontwell and past westergate... But this wasn't a real shout?
Sorry for late reply, this was driver training. As they would have bombed it down A27 over Tangmere round-a-bout and that way
What I the point of him turning the sirens on and off a lot easier to keep them on and better for the pedestrians to react. Or are the laws different
They don't want to get an unnecessary reactions
Oi Chief - Where's the fire!!!
A typical shout takes half an hour?!
A tour of Bognor. Why when there is no other traffic or obstructions do motorists coming the other way slow right down...that really pisses me off!
That sure is a LOOOOONG trip to drive.. Hope they are going to assist, and they are not the first responders for the incident..?
It wasn't a shout, it was a blue light run. ie. the driver was being assessed to make sure he's still competent.
@altern8ive I get to drive on blue lights for real... :-)
All heroes 🏆👍🏼😊
but, I wonder how many stations have closed for you to make such a journey to get the place that needed your help???…this government has killed the NHS, fire, sea rescue and police just so their arses can sit in better places....😡😡😡

It was a training run, not a real call out.
end of shift.
Wonder if urbex2007 would be such a jobs worth if it were their house on fire????
it looks like there going like 40 mph LOL! and takes them 25 mins to get there...
@CDB8939 I know Fire Appliances in Scotland are not limited. Fact. Dunno & Dont particularly care for the other halfs.
Such a long but good video, next time do it in a shorter length. :)
that clicking of someones camera is really annoying
christopher cooper probably not a camera but the relay clicking from turning main beam on and off (flashing headlights)
@@andyhirst4113 definitely a camera. You can hear the digital beep now and then and it's intermittent. Wig wags are going throughout
The more annoying they are the better the job they do
Screw them, someone is in need of help.
It is smarter to keep it on so anyone in front has more time to get out of the way or someone doesn't walk out on the road all of a sudden.
Bognor bugger
25min ?
what the fuck
youd think the dude taking pic woulda turned shutter sound off etc dam annoying
It's not a camera shutter, it's the relays on the flashing headlights.
Come on... 'typical shout',,, ?
@urbex2007 ha,ha
Great driving. 100% pass
lol 1.55 he fell off hes push bike, lmfo
I hope that wasn't a real shout, everyone's dead by the time you arrive.
Training run.
25 minutes are to long to take to get to fire. The government must build a place to keep the fire machines more near where these people live.
kilbraur Two words: Training run.
Lol what are you looking at man?
1:55 cyclist fail
LOL

This was never a shout or Make Pumps!! @ 25 minutes, but just a high speed camera ride,, SHAME on the County Fire Service for putting the JEEBEES ON ALL THESE MOTORISTS & CYCLISTS ETC
next time you see an ambulance wonder if it on a call or just taking the piss out of all tax payers
this was a training run
A great video, but please, don't insult intelligence.
Why the on and off with the sirens!!!! They should be turned on and left on!
We don't tend to put sirens on unless necessary.
Tell that to the police when you cause an accident and they ask you why your warning devices were not in use!! Common sense goes a long way....
Yeah I know, I prefer a constant siren myself.
But I guess it works since we don't have large traffic issues.
For example, yesterday I seen an ambulance responding, put on his sirens before a junction then switched it off again once he was clear due to an open road.
