I really like your straightforward content. I just turned 59. I dropped 55 lbs in 14 months, worked out, and really improved my appearance, but I was 145 lbs at 5’10” and still not as lean as I wanted so, before I saw this video, I had decided to “give up” & bulk. I’m one month into my first intentional bulk and I’ve hit my goal of 2 lbs/month, so far. I feel so much better now and plan to keep in the bulk until March and then try cutting again. Everything in your video rang true with my VERY limited experience. Keep up the good work!

They probably mean not losing fat. It's like he explains in the video that you will plateau even on a deficit because Leptin will eventually go down and Grelin will increase, you will start to lose muscle and your sleep will be poor. It is far more complicated than simply calories in vs out.

Biology isnt as simples as that. Things like hormones and blood sugar levels, for example, also interfere in loosing weight. I was in a deficit for a year or so and wasnt losing weight until i started to take suplements to straighten my hormones and my then high sugar on the blood. Don't be such a simplist, nature isn't math

    • @LaggyKikee

@@claralimap lol, nature IS math. You weren't in a deficit if you weren't losing weight. You CANT break the rules of thermodynamics, that's just how it is.

I could not agree more with the point about taking a diet break. I had totally stalled in my cut, even as I dropped cals lower and lower and kept my workouts and activity levels IP. My energy levels were getting lower and lower, NEAT was nowhere, I was cold all the time... And then I took a break and I have the graphs to show: my cals went up 400 per day, and I lost 1.8lbs in 2 weeks. Still at the lower weight now on higher calories.

When I was what I would determine as "respectably lean" i.e. roughly 8% bodyfat - not exactly striated glutes but yeah, decently lean - I was cold all the time, especailly my hands. Even though it was summer. Also my resting heart rate was like 38bpm. No libido. Sleep patterns out of whack... ah, fun times. Can't wait until next summer to do it all over again baby!

I must have heard the basics of losing the last pounds a hundred time. This is the first explanation that sealed the deal; that is, it'll stick w/ me so I'm not constantly wondering how to lose the final pounds. Thank you

Quality video Lord Bundy. Would also add that how we gauge fat loss isn't always physically visible in our reflection i.e. we'll never really notice incremental fat loss in places like hamstrings/lower back and other unimpressive places in our bodies. Glutes could be getting mad lean but unless our sick pack is progressing we will determine that we have "hit a wall". Obviously our body doesn't care about Greek aesthetics when choosing where fat should come off !

Joe I wasn't gonna do my cardio today but as soon as I saw this video, I knew I couldn't get away with not doing it. I was gonna try and convince myself that lifting weights this morning was enough to burn fat...
    Off to cardio I go!
