That guitar has very unique tone, it is a hybrid for sure. It is almost like a Frankenstein, put together with bits and pieces of differing models and melded together very nicely. I'm wondering if it's the headstock design that really changes the tonal sounds that guitar makes? Hats off to Master Nick on the build and Dave's playing! Cheers 🍻🎸👍
This Guitar reminds me of the old Epiphone Wilshire Guitars made in the early to mid 60's. The Late Steve Marriot played one with Humble Pie. Great Demo no backing rhythm track just the Guitar perfect.
ooh Dave dude, thanks so much for that, especially the I dont want to leave section. that was a beautiful bit of music and art. first time ive felt somewhat healed by something I haven't heard before in a long time.
Man! Love the sound of the gibstratel, Nick knows how to build a guitar that’s for sure. There is so much music built in to this thing, it will sit really well in the mix as the tone is sweet & clear. Hope we see it at the next trio gig.👍
Inspiring to hear this cornucopia of tunes today...and with generous amount of my favorite...the Mel9... Thank you, thank you, thank you 😁 Going to layer a loop using choir and strings as well. Just have to get their volumes just right eh...?...just beautiful 😃 😎👍❤🖖 Love Brother
Hi Di Hi... Like this "Strat" (?) even more... much much much... more more more... than your original Oswald (and that is a "Goodie") ! So long as there is an electric power source... An AMP... Sandy beaches... Two Coconut trees for shade and a Hammock ... with corrugated iron shack... and fishing boat... This guitar is a... "Desert Island" Keeper ! Oh Yeah ! ... 🤠...
Interesting take on the fanned fret thing. Cool guitar. Reminds me of a Moulet. Also, the jam is the perfect soundtrack to where Im sitting right now - wish we could post photos in the comment sections...
This is perhaps your best jam to date, Dave. Really sweet sounding guitar you got there. It lends itself really well to this mellow and very articulate playing of yours. I believe there are quite a few good songs hidden in that beautiful instrument, you just gotta find them. 😘
I love hybrids.. I like Jim Roots fenders Mahogany bodies Active pickups ect. Beefy sound but still Fender feel... The tele..is my favourite... I like the headstock on this One.. Thinking outside the box... Nice one Dave...
Beautifully played Dave! That guitar looks and sounds awesome! Looking forward to hearing more of what you and that guitar can produce! Cheers for this vid really enjoyed it :)
I am really enjoying your use of the Mel 9 on your pedal board, what a beautiful piece of music today on that Oswald. I am so glad that Master Nick was able to make you another neck and that headstock is awesome looking , and being slotted took a lot more time to make. Cheers and congrats on that great guitar!
I've been wondering what happened with this old boy so glad to see it's day out on here! I think the "red" finish is Nick's nod to the floor-tile red finish of the Gravycaster! Did you have to fit a new bridge to adjust to the regular fretted neck? I also like the OS name and Queenie's reference to Mad Max as this guitar definitely has an Australian vibe to it with the slotted headstock, like a Maton.
Please do a video on how you found nick and why he gives you free guitars. I’ve been subbed for years and never heard you explain it. If you have can you tell me what vid it was in thanks
I think Nick found Dave! This is the video you want to start with - ua-cam.com/video/f8lHi_s1tIs/v-deo.html - this is the unboxing of the first Oswald and Dave gives some background to the guitar in the video. Feb 2017 and I don't think there are any Oswalds before that. You can then search Dave's videos for "The Oswald Strat" or just "Oswald" for videos of the other guitars like the Tele-type and the Strat-type with the silver pickups as those vids often have some anecdotes about Nick too.
This is a rosewood-board Oswald "John" Strat - ua-cam.com/video/pQ4u-eF6k_E/v-deo.html - and, well you get the picture. UA-cam's search is a bit random in my opinion. Better to load the "Videos" page on a desktop browser, scroll for a LONG time to get back to like 5 years ago, and then do a "Find" using the browser for "Oswald" and if Dave mentions it in the title the vid will be revealed.
0:26 But I DO wanna hear you talk! I dig your guitar playing. Very much. But when you talk I learn things. Not that I don't learn things watching you play. You know what I mean. Damn it. Lol
Now that you have quite a cool selection of nice expensive guitars, do you still play your bullets and other cheap guitars? I've found that I don't, unless I mod the hell out of it.
I like the headstock but it's too bad he put that shite of a colour over the sunburst colour underneath. Would have been interesting to see it that way.
D not care from now on, for me this will be the frankestine guitar. Seems really intresting and original for sure but its too much for me lol. i mean damn , i can t even stand a humbucker in the bridge of a strat as i find that it look wrong haha.
Let's face it - there is only one Dave Simpson and master Nick knows how to get the best out of him .
In the old days trolls would say negative things to get a response. Now its lavish praise on a video to get response.

This Oswald sounds awesome with you, well done, great expression, emotion filled playing as always.
Loved every second
Beautiful guitar and tone. Great playing....... This guitar reminds me of the Kawai KS series, especially the KS 11, from the late 70's-early 80's. 🤘
WOW, Thank you so much, Dave. Your artistry is superb, your enthusiasm is infectious. Please never change, you give pleasure to so many.
This guitar is a masterpiece. I love the headstock
Virtuosismo, elegancia, sentimiento.....
Those volume swells seem effortless. Always a pleasure and privilege to hear you play Dave!
That is the platypus of guitars. Lol I love it.
Inspiring to hear this cornucopia of tunes today...and with generous amount of my favorite...the Mel9...

Dave, you are awsome! Take care of yourself.
BEAUTIFUL DAVID JUST BEAUTIFUL
Classical nylon-string style headstock on an electric? What? How does that even work? So amazing.
