      Need advice medic, I got a slash 1/16 with nearly every integy and rpm upgrade, and a brushless motor. What should I upgrade? I'm currently working on converting it to an erevo, but that doesn't matter an extreme amount to me.

    Because of you... I got my first hobby grade rc one year ago. A Traxxas Slash 4x4. Within the first 5 minutes I broke an A arm. I rushed to the hobby store to get a replacement right before they closed. Anyway, long story short... it has been completely upgraded. It's not even close to being stock anymore and I am I love with this hobby. Now it's a year later and my Summit should arrive in the mail tomorrow.

    Working on my Clod Buster. Getting back into RC. I have had this truck for a long time. It is beat down from years of back yard bashing. Now that I am older, it is time for a new lease on life and a lot of upgrades. I'm dusting off all the old models and added a new one. Picked up a Wraith kit. Lots of fun, and keep up the vids.

    I'm right in the middle of rebuilding my Summit's rear diff. My local group just had what we call "Bash Fest" and ran a Monster Jam style race. It was a blast even though my diff couldn't take the abuse of the day, but hey it is the original part and is 5 years old!

    Working on my Rusty 4x4 VXL. Has MIP X-duty shafts in the rear and I just put the Traxxas CVD shafts in the front. (hobby shop was out of the front MIPs or I would have used them) Literally 30 sec into the first pack I broke one of them. Sheared the threaded part of the stub axle right off. Really glad I didn't have to chase one of my 2.8 Trenchers down the road. (landed on it's side) I don't bash very hard but it's pretty crazy that after 8 months on stock axles with no issues, I break 2 of them in a week (doing nothing special) and then break a Traxxas CVD in under a minute!
    I love this hobby! :)

    Love watching these build / rebuild vids. One tip I learned about loctite a while back is if you really want it to work properly the metal surfaces (threads) need to be 100% clean and free of oil/grease/dirt. There is a proper loctite primer you can get but I always use a bit of brake cleaner with a rag and or air gun. Makes a huge difference. BTW Thank you for inspiring me to get an RC for the first time, I have a 1/10 Losi Night Crawler 2.0 that I am have a great time with in the local bush tracks here in Sydney.

    Hell yah, go ahead and do the trans upgrade on camera. I've always said: "If you aren't making a mistake once in a while, It's 'cause you aren't doing ANYTHING " I told that to all my employees, and to a man, every one of 'em became more confident and productive, by not worrying about me berating them for making a mistake . We're all human, go for it and to hell with any one who stupidly gives you any static. All of us learn by doing, and sometimes seeing potential pitfalls, can help the next person doing the job, avoid 'em. Your videos are awesome........keep on rollin' !

  • @olds97lss
    @olds97lss 8 років тому

    You might want to try using HPI's flange nuts they use on the savage with 17mm wheels. Cut the threaded part of the traxxas hub off flush with the hex, then use the HPI nuts. Doing that avoids dealing with the slop that ends up getting ground into the stock hubs by the threaded axle. I've done this on both my revos and it's worked out great.

  • @deusexaethera
    @deusexaethera 12 днів тому +1

    Do you have stronger diffs to go with those stronger axles? My understanding is it's easy to blow the stock diffs if you put a lot more power and much stronger axles on the Summit. I've never had that problem because my Summit has stock power (I just modified the stock motor to spin on ball bearings to reduce parasitic drag from the stock bronze bushings), but given how much of a pain it is to service the Summit drivetrain it seems like a good idea to bundle all your drivetrain upgrades together if at all possible. Unfortunately I don't know if stronger diffs even exist for the Summit due to the complexity of their construction, with the remote diff locks and whatnot.

    lucas gun oil! I found it at the counter at my local auto store! I use it on everything, gear box's, diffs, bearings. It's water proof, sticky and thin visc. Just a little drop goes a long ways! I would recommend it for just about any part of an rc!

    Your Summit is so sweet!!!
    Ive been researching some good RC's to buy as my first and right now I've narrowed it down to the Summit or the Vkar Bison that kinda grew on me and is cheaper too, but this summit is a bit of a step above the bison.. I would say the summit is overall better quality and has crawling capabilities, as well as bashing, and the bison has a good entry level price point, but also seems like it would be a decent racer too and handles really well.. whereas the summit seems a little heavier and a bit less "racy"… (just my two cents right now) obviously the summit is a step above in terms of quality and attention to detail and upgrade-ability .. its pretty impressive

    • @danroden6183
      @danroden6183 7 років тому

      luckkydraggon1111 I have both, and I have to say I enjoy the summit much more even though it's much slower. It is significantly bigger, and much much more capable in rougher terrain. The bison is really good for high speed bashing and speed runs with the loose diffs and brushless system. The summit is a well known truck that can take a beating. I have yet to break anything on mine. They're both pretty durable but I would take the summit hands down any day. Just my opinion.

    Came back to watch this one.. thinking of an axle upgrade or 4 as I twisted one and snapped another all in one run. Do the LEM's come with the ends? Whatever make I go with is going to be pretty hefty for me so I want to make sure I get the right set up.
