Great advise on getting started. I am in East Texas myself, just north of Tyler. We just got a stump grinder to attach to our tractor that we already have. Slowly build up to a stand alone unit. We have prayed about this and feel being lead in this direction in God's timing.
In my opinion, hydraulic is the way to go. It's more efficient and less maintenance than belt or direct drive units. As far as track vs. wheel, I prefer a 4x4 wheel unit. They are much more turf friendly. With that being said, I would take my track machine places I wouldn't go in my wheeled machine.
My brother in Christ, thank you for taking the time to create this! I’ve been watching tons of videos about stump grinding and just the other day found a used Husqvarna SG-13 for $500. Gonna knock doors as you recommended, work hard, follow through, and save up for a larger machine. Obviously gonna focus on smaller stumps but also in the meantime, if I can line up bigger stumps, I found one on tracks to rent for $285/day.
I'm looking to change my whole career. I've been in tech for 10 years and i'm burnt out mentally looking to get into Physical labor. It will be a huge jump, I have to get a truck and a grinder. I was thinking a VERMEER SC292. I will do it slowly at first, really curious how long the build up will take in terms of gaining business/connections to gain a steady flow of income.

Thank you. I hope to be a bit more consistent soon with the content. Take care
Very good information thanks!
Thanks for the info. Do you have any thoughts on hydraulic vs direct drive machines and also tracks vs wheels?

Man, you are very welcome. May the Lord bless you in your new adventure.
Please please please do not run out and get a loan! Owning a payment does not automatically equal having work.
