    Great video. Don't really understand why anyone would ever need a grinder to be remotely accessibled. But here we are.

    I always find it insane how many wood chips are made when grinding a stump. You feel like there is way more wood chippings than there was stump. Great video and nice job!

      Yep. We're unpacking/uncompressing the stump. Same thing happens when chipping wood into the truck. Green material takes up way less space than thick wood limbs.

    A big 4 prong cultivator is also SUPER handy for scooping chips into a bin

    Hi Tim, Nice video on your stump grinder , Wow its remote control impressive, see you have neck strap to comfort carry the control box that's nice part, grinder did well, but Question to you, obviously there's temp Guage on unit due to fact its air cooled mmm, is there alarm that goes off to you hear that unit is running hot for cool down time, how fast does it cool down by air. the unit interests me thanks from Donald

      Hello. There's actually no temp gauge. I believe the machine will just shut down if it overheats. One big fan runs to cool off the machine. When I first got the machine, I shut it off too early after running it and it wouldn't start until it cooled down. So now I let it idle for 5-10min before shutting it off.

    Just my opinion. If you’re not trying to cut it down just start grinding. Done a lot of stumps and I only dig out if there’s a known obstruction like concrete fence or fence post that I have to find first.

    Great video. How much did you pay for this stump grinder?

    Do you ever cut those even lower to the ground with a chainsaw before you start stump grinding? Or is it more efficient to just send it with the grinder? By the way, that grinder is gigantic. My friend and I use a 25 horsepower Toro, and we'd be at that thing for HOURS.
    Were your grinder wheel teeth super sharp before you started?

    • @VeteranTreeService
      @VeteranTreeService  4 місяці тому

      I cut as low as I can with a full wrap saw. The teeth are Tomahawks, they last a long time. Fairly new.

    Do you ever put up boards or something to stop flying rocks or other debris? Did you charge extra for chip removal?

    • @VeteranTreeService
      @VeteranTreeService  4 місяці тому +1

      Ya, I have a net when needed. Sometimes I charge extra for chips, it depends.

    i wish the stumps around here ground that easily lol. also just a tip start about a foot to the side of the stump and grind down a bit deeper as you go going from bottom to the top its easier on the machine and you wont have to make 2 passes normally. we also have always ground it deep enough to put top soil back over it and clear all the chips out. but thats just how my boss wants it done its a pain in the ass for sure especially when its a huge stump with big roots you have to chase. ive spent a whole day on one stump before several times i hate it lol.

    That's some shallow grinding. Do you typically grind less than 6 inches deep?

    • @VeteranTreeService
      @VeteranTreeService  Місяць тому

      Ya. I've found that people are good with that. Unless otherwise asked I go just below surface level.

    If you raise your dump box on your trailer you can open the doors on your chip truck... good job

    Biggest mistake people make, building up the ground around tree trunks with dirt (like here) or mulch..

    off lower to save time and work for the grinder

    Not to be a smart ass after removing blocks i would of cut stump lower and then grind sharpen chainsaw 5 minutes to grind that twice and remove all those chips. I own sg75 and bandit 2550 i know what teeth cost and how long to change easier to cut stump lower. Just advice not telling you how to run your business

    • @VeteranTreeService
      @VeteranTreeService  3 місяці тому

      👍 I didn't want to deal with cutting it lower and moving the wood (cookie).

    • @waterbuoy9121
      @waterbuoy9121 28 днів тому

      Or even grind round outer edge of stump and then cut stump lower - that way the saw is dealing with much cleaner wood.

    Man that seems like a lot of work for just getting rid of a stupid stump. Try my method next time!
    Using a 1" auger bit, drill about 8-12 holes in the stump's surface at regular intervals. Fill holes with black powder. Tamp down and refill/tamp till full. Affix slow burning fuse. Light then run away.
    That's it! Plus its a lotta fun! 🤪👍
