@@cap258 personally, if they added 5 support specs (example: disc priest, 1 rogue, 1 mage, 1 hunter, 1 warlock) including with aug, it would be much better received and it wouldn't kill other 2 evoker specs in m+ and it wouldn't be as meta maybe. But the damage has been done and blizz lost a lot of credibility
@filecro6934 in fact the game worked perfectly fine with the holy trinity of tank/heal/damgedealers and adding more support specc wouldn't have fixed anything (at least for me).
I mean aug wasn't brought for damage it was brought because it makes it easier to get over the heal and tank checks in the dungeon. This will definitely change how the meta is unless aug is grossly overtuned but now it will make it easier for blizzard to do it
Almost all of the difficulty in m+ is focused on healer and tank so losing the aug buff is ass. If DPS players outside of Aug put the group first instead of busily rolling face across dps keys it'd be different, but that's an extreme rarity outside of very high keys. Aug even on something as low as a 10 is very noticeable when I'm healing. Helps with those common situations where dps forget they have kick/defensives.
I don’t usually bash Blizzard but they have really missed the mark with the support spec. It has been so badly handled that they have effectively prevented any other support specs from being introduced. If they cannot handle just one, imagine them trying to balance multiple support specs. At this point, just do away with the support spec all together and make aug into something else.

I agree it was too strong, but then if Aug is just a lame dps that does lower numbers than all other dps, why would anyone play it? IMO they should quikly introduce another support spec and maybe make disc a support spec and then there are three options and makes more sense to have one slot of your group as a utility/support role

This is the fix aug needed for so long. A dps spec buffing dps specs. Now people won't pick them just because of their survivability anymore now they will be invited based on their damage and utility just like every other dps in the game...AND they are on the same level as devastation, now both specs will be on the same playing field and the only reason to invite one over the other will be based on who does more dps, unless streamers want to inflate their numbers so they can get more views
it is a support class... so removing the utility is idiotic. devastation is rarely invited as it is since you have so many other better dps specs to pick from. after this change you might see augs in premades, but now it's better to pick an enhance shaman/balance druid/ frost dk because they don't depend on someone else's damage.

The best part is now they can buff tanks and healers again without tuning them around an aug. Before aug was making tanks and healers so powerful they were pulling and serving massive pulls and instead of tuning aug they were tuning every other class around them. That's why the got come fire and shadow were nerfed so hard. Blizzard was just balancing class as if every group was running aug so groups without sucked, hince the mandatory concept was born. This will allow for giving power back to the classes and specs, aug was no different than the borrowed power systems. It's not a nerf to aug it's a balancing to it's power. Everyone's worried because they will lose the dps that tanks and healers provided them to their dps....but you just said it aug has to rely on other players. What's easier relying on dps spread between 4 people at 25% to make 100% or 2 people at 50%? If the tank and healer are too busy surviving and not dpsing then they ain't contributing to Augs damage anyway 2 really good dps will be no different then a whole solid group.

I don’t understand 11.1 changes to make tanks even more needy. Prot gets its rage and ignore pain nerfed. Buff I get from my group decreased. On top of the opener changes this expansion to make me die more. Why do we feel we need to have floor tanks?
The game is designed based on what streamers do, the very best of players. As long as the 100 best tanks in the world stay up, and the 100 best healers in the world say the game is "ez," the Devs don't care if the rest are dying.
I still can't believe they have us Evokers in the form of damage and healing first. An after they brought aug put in the light , devastation was left im shambles . I mean Devastation was a spec played for only 1 season in their release expansion lol ! how crazy is that !
dev was actually a very very strong spec through all of DF too, except for the first 6-8 weeks of season 3. then it got buffed back to being strong, it just had a bad tier set. you could push up to +25s in pugs without much issue but after that it just felt like everything 1 shots you without the healer being attentive to you, it's a bit less squishy now for m+, but so fun. i chose to main it in DF beta and i still do, i've played aug but it got boring quite fast. one day we will be meta, probably in 2026 :D
For ppl saying this was a nerf, brace yourselves. Aug will still be meta, they will make aug buffs the META DPS even more by 25% plus his dungeon kit Zephyr+ tank scales + healing mana + rescue. This was not a nerf.
Huge Nerf when they were brought more for tank and healer buffs. The dps buff isn't going to be enough to outperform a thrid dps. The tanks are not going to be able to pull as big in higher keys without those buffs. This is a much bigger buff for prot pallys.
dev evoker and pres have all of that except for tank scales, but tanks don't really need it unless they're playing one of the weaker tanks. so once they get aug properly balanced, the statement people will purport will be "you always need an evoker or mage in the group"

@@liamdavies2823 the utility is similar but the main point is for the ebon might and shifting sands vers buff and blistering scales for tank. last season alot of pulls were huge and having an aug evoker could make some impossible pulls- possible. if the high end keys are - can you live or not aug will 100% still be meta. The thing with aug is its only good in premade teams, if you are coordinated aug will do as much dmg as a regular dps. if your not your lucky if your aug does more dmg then the tank. augs shine and do extremely well when the dps are lining up cds TOGETHER and doing well, if 1 dps is mediocre aug takes a big hit. TBH the only thing that would make dev meta is if survivability wasnt that big of an issue in high end keys. the 1 on only reason for aug is survivability yeah yeah utility is nice but dev has alot of that too its literally only survivability in the top 1% of keys that will decide if its meta or not

Realistically looking at things, however, Augvokers balance things out... a non-meta spec buffed by an augvoker will often perform as well as if not better than a meta spec in the same position. Augmentation isn't just "the newest perma-meta spec that we need to knock down to make room for other specs to shine", no Aug is the spec that brings weaker specs to the table and says "let's push father" Now intrinsically that acknowledges a problem in the existence of meta specs being a thing, but as long as you want independent specs, you're going to have some specs better at certain content than others. If you're mad because an augvoker is taking up a meta slot, then make an augvoker friend and push to even higher limits in the spec you actually want to play : )

Why is Mythic+ not like it was during BFA? Back then, we used to pull larger groups because the timer was tight. Now, the timer isn't the main challenge; instead, we're health-gated. If you can't survive, you can't complete the key. It was much more fun when the focus was on beating the timer rather than just trying to stay alive with every pull. Time-gated instead of Health-gated dungeon would make aug less mandatory but easier with them.
Since, as you conclude here, it hurts tanks and healers - the tank is mandatory so must stay within m+, the healer (maybe - MDI shown many4dps runs), and since tank will not benefit from aug that means everything has to die fast - how? Exclude healer..... . This will even more kill pugs..
Instead of balancing them this way, I'd rather see them double down on support classes and make them a true separate spec all together. I'd love to see the dungeon balance shift to 1 tank 1 healer 1 support 2 dps

The porblem with Aug isnt that it buffs tanks/healers. The problem with Aug is that there isnt another Support spec
