  • In 1983 while studying Isshinryu under Master Joseph Jennings I was honored and privileged to assist in the making of one of the first Panther Productions videos, “Mastering the Kama” featuring my good friend Steve Torres. The voice over was done by Joseph Jennings himself.
I look back on those days at the San Clemente dojo with the fondest of memories. I was just out of the Marine Corps and studying karate full time. The clips makes me smile and sometimes laugh - what fun we had!!
If you want to see more clips take a second and like this video - thank you - D

Steve was a great sensei i was privileged to train with him from 1988 to 1992 when he moved back to New York, this brought back great memories. I hope he's doing well. Tell him hi for me if possible. Warren Van Ness

I was one of his students in 87, i think he was a 5 degree. I didn't know anything but i could run a 400 in 47 sec, i could kick his butt all over the room. I held back a lot when i was young. He sucked back then, easy to put it to his head when he was showing off. A short temper, small bully. A Lot of bluster but no bite. He only had old people and young 8 year old girls there. He made people pay to get rank, and "donate" because he couldn't get students. He wasn't better than any marine going through boot camp, i would say a marine would put him in the hurt locker. Old unwashed black belts, and snapping of the gee don't make the man, and splits don't make the kick kill. Its sad to say but it's all true.

Joe, you had better tell Estaban that his opponent won't be standing still. Actually, I think Debbie would be more impressive. She doesn't show boat.
