Great video and definitely great fishing! I just got back from a block island trip myself and literally caught 3 keepers on 1 drift alone…definitely agree Block Island might be my new favorite place for fluke. 🙌🏾 Tight lines 🎣
@@jiggingjerks Thanks John! Did you happen to go there Saturday too? The bite seemed better on Friday but yesterday was much slower…then again I was also on a party boat vs a 6 pack like the previous day.
John that was an epic day. We were out there as well that was the day I sent you the message on July 31st. We had 17 people on a larger boat we released 2 double digits, wenm had 2 fish in the 9 lb class and A bunch of 7 and 8. Everybody on the boat left with their limit. And I lost count of how many shorts I hit. It was a crazy day. I even got a 24" Cod. Which we released it was A-day early for this season.
Great day. I know you don't get them often but the guys really had a good day. My girlfriend and I would love to get out and do that. What's the best time for these fluke? And where are you out of on the island? My cousins live in Massapequa Park. Would like to plan a trip up there when we could go out for a day with you. Thinking next summer?
Send me n email: jiggingjerks@gmail.com. Since I only do it part time, the prime months (June, July, August) are already booked for 2023. I hve. Few September dates open but that is more hit or miss. A ton of excellent charter captains out there too that can get you on the fish
Looks like you caught a very nice day & some really nice fluke! As we all know, you don't get many days like that on the water, especially fishing block island sound. 👍👍
@@jiggingjerks wow that’s a long day then I’m sure ….. do or have you ever run up to the shoals ? Or is that just way to far ?….. block island and the shoals these days seem to be the best areas for higher quantity’s of doormats it seems …..iv noticed a trend also last 5-8 years (I’m from Jersey so grew up fishing sandy hook a lot at the point)…..but Anwyays last 5-8 years sandy hook area not so great and it seems to me that further north like where you are and RI last few years has been hot 🔥….. think the fish are also moving more north …. Perhaps bc of warmer water temps and bait etc …. My father and uncles been out this year and say it’s even worse then last year …. Seems each year gets worse …. With the exception of a few small areas that are still holding some good fish …. They also noticed this year there’s not many bait fish around and normally it’s loaded …..not sure if it’s bc of the netters once again (they scoop up all the bunker etc and stuff and it gets used in dog food cat etc) ….some maybe it’s also bc not as much bait around ? Fluke will deff follow the food also
Going back 10 years or more I’d catch 30-40 fluke each time with just a few hours fishing (and alot of times 100 plus if fishing the day/just constant every cast double headers)… during summer didn’t have even matter that much what the tide or moon etc was …one year caught a 19 then 21” and then short time later 28ish 8lber from the beach ….the bigger fluke like some real Meat sometimes ….i like to use gulp (on floating jig heads some I make myself this way never touch’s bottom more realistic ) and then put a small square chunk of blue fish on combo has worked great for me and increased catch rates then gulp alone …. Leaves such a good oil trail for fish to follow….Nowadays not really worth it tho from beach at sandy hook sadly (and what you do catch is small mostly 12-16”)…. One day I’ll have to get a boat
@@hilltopkoi6667 never been to the Shoals. That’s a bit out of reach with my boat. That is one of the prevailing theories on how the Fluke have been migrating the past few years. North, north and then more north
Funny I don't think this crew really fished enough to appreciate the day, those of us who fish all the time know these days don't happen all the time. If Spiro is a mate on this trip he deserves no tip. Anyway great trip John.
Why no tip? Lmao you can't be serious... for someone who was a mate like myself I would be pissed If I got no tip on a trip like this... now if we got skunked on the other hand I could care less about a tip! Ive been on both sides of it. I'm from south jersey... put it this way He fillets all the fish and is working... Netting fish, untying tangles, tying rigs etc etc.... Now explain why he don't deserve a tip? For someone who fishes all the time like you say you do, if you don't tip after a trip like this your just a A... Hole
I love the enthusiasm that John has for every fluke.
Irrational at times but sincere :)
@@jiggingjerks Good luck today!

good job finding all those fish crew should be thrilled
Another great video!
Damn John...that was awesome!
Thanks Ray. Publishing a vid tomorrow that’s even crazier….seriously
I just love living in south jersey as an angler..!!!!!
Ella re, Sprio! Get that bucktail out!
You were pretty harsh on Spiro! To his credit, he kept his cool. LOL
I need to start robbing banks and move here for the fishing, LOL!!! What a day of fishing, right?
Kai’s are your best customers lol. Man what an epic trip! Save some for September :)
Wht are the odds?

I love it when you hear John excited to see that bend in the rod- oh thays a good one !
Great video, thanks for taking me along.
Lot of fish caught on that day. Spiro can learn from and get over it or don't mate again on your boat.
Did I see you out at Block yesterday?
You did
Don't spazz out on me Andy 😂😂
Wow looks like great day on the water. Man I miss the ole days of fishing block island area.
Take me there John!
I have to book a charter with you next year, with my kids. This looks like it was so much fun.
I know that guy fattommy ,he's one heck of a fluke fisherman 🤣 looks like he put you on some solid #rs.
Hahahaha
Bet it was fun filleting all of them! 😂
Nice work John putting your customers on the fish
Great trip and video! Love fishing BI.
Awesome 🤩 ! I usually going every weekend solid day 🤙
That was one heck of a fishing trip. Great job to all, even Spyro! lol He netted the fish and that is all that matters.

That was some blue water I thought it was just the camera or the sky that's always like that out there ?
It usually is - such clean water…
Awesome trip!! Those guys have great memories!! That’s what it’s all about good to see the young guy getting good fish
Nice haul of fluke
absolute pandemonium. love it!
excellent fishing!! I hope one day I can fish in your boat!!
Do NY regs apply off Block?
You have to follow both local State’s regs and your home port regs
Poor Spiro... he is going to need Xtra pay next trip! 😆
That was a nice catch.
I'm jealous one day I'm gonna get there john...
👍👍👍
Can I get those numbers. Quality fish
How far boat ride is that for you?… block is in RI right ?
Yup and far. 43 miles as the crow flies but we got swing around a couple of islands so more like 45 plus each way
