Sat in Ferry queue at Portsmouth, reading page 84 (Laws &Regs) of Z4 E85 Owner's Handbook. Thankfully, your video will save me from dreaded stickers! Right hand drive cars: up for Euro, down for UK. Opposite for LHD.
jafxdwg No problem. I didn't think finding that lever was all that obvious. So when I did find it, I thought I'd share a vid! I don't think the issue is the brightness, it's the beam pattern. Because we drive on the left, the pattern projects left so you can see the verge / kerb. However, when you're on the continent driving on the right, this would blind everyone coming the other way! This lever adjusts the beam so it doesn't project too far left.
Can't remember - apologies if I didn't cover this in the video. This discussion on pistonheads suggests up for EU, down for UK: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=572016 "slides vertically to blank off the top of the beam pattern" It's pretty obvious once you've put it in EU mode - there's a big hole in your beam when driving on the left. HTH
Thank you for the quick response! Tomorrow I check them☺️ I need them for Hungarian MOT and that’s why I need to know, becasue they just accept european style 😕 but you said in the video its switch to EU, so not USA (I mean throws straight) ☺️

Matevz Navodnik My apologies, I've just watched the video back and I say towards the end that DOWN is EURO mode. If you have a UK model, you should find the lever in the up position, for UK driving.
@@db_motors Having the same problem locating the lever in the right hand light and also removing the rear cover completely. Don't want to force the cover. and break or dislodge anything. I was wondering though if it is located on the far side of the main beam which would make sense if the blanking plate was located there to the left of the light itself. Can you confirm? The left hand light was a piece of cake by the way so many thanks for posting the video
Hi, thats funny. I have a RHD car and the position of lever were DOWN. I am yet really confiuos. I need a EU mode:-) I have called slso an BMW dealer and they have no idea.

Jonathan Boucard Pleased it helped! Enjoy Euro driving in the Z!
Perfect! That's one big thing off the list for my EU jaunt this month. Thank you Sir.
Great video! Thanks a lot 👍
Do you reckon this would work on 2010 Audi A5 xenons?
Thanks for that. Very useful.
Hi,
thanx for reply... Hmmm I need to switch from UK to EU and now I am not sure how to do that in which position muss be.
Thank you. Nice a simply vid :)
Thanks for this. I drive an 08 3.0SI. Am I to understand that Brit Zeds with xenon headlights are too bright for the continent ?

Matevz Navodnik No, other way around.
Any idea if the halogen lights have the same lever on the E85?
No idea I'm afraid, sorry. Although if you've got the owners handbook handy, it sounds like page 84 might tell you (another comment below)
@@db_motors I checked and the levers were there, thanks for the vid!
@@Joseph.hartley ah great! Pleased you found it useful.
Hi, Do you know if there is such a switch / lever in BMW 7 F01? THX
