- This bike arrived at the shop on 15 January 2012 and was completed on 15 December 2012. Many problems were found along the way and the deeper we got the worse it became. Fortunately, the customer was patient, understanding and dedicated to seeing this project to completion. Thank you Ray. Enjoy your old ride again.
Wow....1972 R75/5 with the toaster tank was my first road bike... bought it for around $1000, took me all the way through college.... attached a sidecar to it and drove it straight through the miserable winters in Philadelphia. Great memories on that bike!
I love refurbishment as a hobby, it's challenging but rewarding.....
Best photo: the boy on the bike...smiling ear to ear! Love it.
BMW rider never dies...just fade away...ha ha... bravo Chris.

Thank you so much for doing these videos. I'm presently riding a 78 R60/7 with a few issues, but thanks to your advice I've been able to tackle a lot of the work myself. I wish you were closer to me, I'd definitely give you business!
I'm sorry to hear of your accident Kevin. I hope you were not injured. While I do not have an engine swap video I do have video of another R75/5 engine being re-moved from the frame. Search for frame strip. I will video the installation into this soon. Maybe in two or three weeks hopefully.
Thanks & Good Luck Paul

Thank you.
Thank you!
Fantastic work
Thank you.
Wow.. what an amazing start-to-finish. What a gem!
Happy new year Chris! we had emailed each other awhile back about info on a spline lube on my 1999 r1100s. i will be starting that project hopefully soon so you may hear from me to ask a question or 2. thanks and please keep your videos coming. paul
Just saw this...great job!
Very well done. I truly appreciate your work. BTW can larger tires be installed on those wheels? That's what I would do if possible.
Used sparingly it is fine but Honda-Moly 60 and other similar lubricants are thin enough to encourage excessive application which fouls the friction disc quickly.
He should’ve gotten rid of that gaudy seat, by re-shaping it.
Nice build for the money conscious builder! Didn’t really take the cylinder heads off or vapor blast the crankcase!
Hi Larry,
I have not seen one of the new-style tensioners wear out but our riding season is short here so there aren't many Oilheads with the mileage that you have. Try replacing the tensioner and hopefully the noise issue will go away with the old tensioner. Please let me know. Thanks, Chris
Great work. I would ditch that seat though.
Very nice job, I always appreciate your videos Chris. On the black tank, is it just me or should the large paintstrip go just outside the thinner one?
Hello B M, I don't remember. I left airhead work long ago and tried to purge those details from my head. Thanks for commenting, take care, Chris
great job
Thanks! :)
I just acquired two of these bikes. How’s the resale value after restoration?
waar kan ik bmw onderdelen bestellen
WOW Amazing.
Impressive...
Chris I think your work is fantastic. I am looking to get my R100 RT back on the road. I was run off the road a few years ago and my frame was damaged. I purchased a replacement frame and now I have transfer the engine. Do you have a video on transferring an engine?
Bravo
elle est magnifique !
Thanks Chris. I'll try installing another of the new style tensioners. Where exactly are you located ??
i use graphite grease just as good on the splines
wow, you make a real good job
Thank you.
beau travail 🌋🌋🌋🌋😘😘😘
Hi, where is this shop located?
nice chris! what is the best way to get rust out of a fuel tank and keep it out after?
Removal requires a considerable amount of effort. Preventing further rust is accomplished by keeping the fuel tank completely full at all times which we know to be impossible. Good luck whichever method you choose.

Superbe restauration, un bémol, je n'aime pas la selle ... Elle est peut-être confort, mais très moche ... pour le reste BRAVO !!!
