- Super Rugby AU | Reds v Brumbies - Final Highlights
In a match worthy of a Super Rugby AU final, the Queensland Reds broke Brumbies hearts yet again, triumphing at the death in Brisbane.

2010 I was at twickenham when we managed to beat a good Aussie side. James O’Connor was playing, I think he was about 20 years old at the time. I remember thinking he was a very good player and have watched his career with great interest over the years. I know he’s had his ups and downs, but to see him score the winning try and take the title is really satisfying to see. Well played reds, a great game and congrats James (you’ve earned it) from uk 🇬🇧
I was at that game
He’s a great player, they should get him in the squad for the next few years until a quality young fly half comes along.
Well said, thanks for sharing.
Choked up a bit when Tupou talked about not seeing his family since 2019. I haven't been back to my home town since then as well. Good on him to keep on fighting thru it. Keep your chin up everyone. This too shall pass.
👍 18 months for me,hopefully end in sight brother
Someone was peeling onions near me too🤫
Same here, I haven't seen my parents since 2019. I had my trip cancelled because of some rail protests and then COVID hit a few weeks later. I'm in Canada, too. Was able to first book my jabs 3 days ago, there is hope on the horizon.
Cracking game aside, that was the best Australian coverage of a rugby match I've ever seen and I've been watching for 30-plus years. So well put together, it was like this was the first time a broadcaster really took rugby seriously. All 9's NRL and State of Origin experience was applied to rugby, and it highlighted how unimaginative and tiresome Seven, Foxtel and Ten's efforts were. The match itself, and the emergence of some genuine talent, is a shot in the arm for the code, sure, but after decades of underwhelming TV packaging, rugby finally has a broadcaster with ambitions for the game. For that, we owe Raelene Castle recognition for putting Fox and its same-same old boys' club delivery on ice.
Totally agree Gregor. I've watched every game from NZ, and have been so impressed with the changes which have been happening in Australian rugby. There are some great young guns coming through in the code there, and to have a broadcaster that delivers quality content which brings these players to the fore is wonderful. It was also a master stroke having Michael Cheika as part of the Stan team. His insight and comments have been fascinating. And to be honest the whole Stan pundit and commentary team is superior to their NZ counterparts, in my opinion. Really good point acknowledging Raelene Castle's role in the sea change which is happening there. She had a torrid time battling that old boys' club.
Pro tip : watch series at flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Keaton Jeremy yea, have been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
What. A. Game. Now that's defence worthy of a final. QLR fully deserved winners.
Well played Reds and well done to James O'Connor for playing so well and getting the winning try, but you gotta feel for the Brumbies who gave it their all ... helluva match!
WOW Australian rugby looking good great game big crowd. Looking forward to seeing how our NZ teams shape against them. Congratulations QLD and the Brumbies on a epic final. 🇳🇿
Are you kidding
No chance against the kiwis..Thats watching two B teams playing. Very sloppy game can tell by the penalties. Queensland was lucky to win, because Canberra was the better team. But the gave too much penalties.
So happy for O'connor, he was so good this season... Gg
That was a genuine thriller, tighter and more exciting than the SRA final earlier in the night. Good to see Aussie rugby producing such a quality contest. Cheers from NZ 😎
To think people were sticking the knife into Brad Thorne 2 years ago. Serve them some crow.
Aye. ~~~~ 'em all then, as now. The dull ~~~~s.
That was an INTENSE finish!!! Phew! Go Reds!!! :)
Watched both super rugby finals.Overall the reds v brumbies was the better final as it was a much closer contest .Two heavy weights in a test match quality game.Bigger crowd and better atmosphere as well.Awesome game.
Agree with you 100%.
To date, Brad Thorn has:
-Won a NRL championship
-Won a SR championship
-Won a RWC
-Won a Heineken championship
-And now he's coached the Reds to become the SR AU champions
How does he do it lads? How is he so GOAT?
He won 4 league championship not just one, 2 state of origin titles for Qld, 5 bledisloe cups and 3 tri nation titles for NZ. He leaves Tom Brady for dead in terms of achievements
@@seano4784 I stand corrected, what a chad among men
Glorious! How good is O'Connor? 😅
The best
Absolutely World Class. That's as good as it gets!
Still by far one of the best Rugby players
Great to see a big crowd for a big game in Australia; I've enjoyed the separate SR competitions either side of the Tasman for what they are. Good effort.
James O'Connor, take the Trophy, you deserve it 🏆🥇
What a win from the Reds gotta feel for the brumbies 3rd time loosing in the final few minutes but heads up there still a great team and all the best to them in Trans-Tasman. This just wasn't a boost for the Reds but for Aussie rugby in general and I hope rugby gets popular again as a result.
Let’s go reds now let’s see some form for the wallabies 🔥
Far better competition and attendance as a stand alone league. Should stay this way.
I think it would be interesting to open it back up a bit, but just with Aus and NZ. Provides a little more variety with 10 teams as opposed to 5, while still keeping a high level of competition, and keeping the travel distances relatively short would keeps fan close and stadiums full.
Better because the best super rugby teams are not there and the Aus teams get to win something? 😄😄
I agree. If the international structure is going to be retained, they should break up the early rounds into a local conference system, and keep the initial round-robin phases as local derbies, as you have now, followed by a finals playoff series hosted by one of the participant nations on an annually rotating basis and featuring the best two teams from each conference. The structure could look something like this:
Conference 1 (SRA):
Crusaders
Blues
Chiefs
Highlanders
Hurricanes
Conference 2 (SRAU):
Reds
Brumbies
Force
Warratahs
Rebels
Conference 3 (SRSA):
Bulls
Stormers
Lions
Sharks
Jaguares
Conference 4 (Asia-Pacific):
Fiji Drua
Moana Pasifika
Kanaloa Hawaii
Sunwolves
South China Tigers
This would allow for expansion without making the competition rounds unwieldy, cut down the amount of long haul travel, and likely provide better attendance at each game. That's how you reconcile with Richard Desmond and his GRR offshoot, make a contribution to the development and financial health of PI and Asian rugby, expand the sport's appeal into new markets, better manage the travel obligations of your elite players, and produce a better standard of rugby for the public.
At least I think so. 😉
@@datecashif7401 yes that's exactly why its better. Provides bigger crowds and an Aussie winner way better for the game and people can suppor.
Thank U QLD REDS for bringing rhe trophy home.
The crusaders would smash them sorry to say
Not only the crusaders, every other team in NZ
@@faigavaega5679 bar the Hurricanes
nic berry, player of the match. always gonna be tough to beat 16 blokes
I was at the game and James o Connor scored in front of us
I remember the crowd going crazy
Well deserved Queensland’s Reds👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
They've been the best team all season, they deserve this title
how good was nic berry, best on ground
That ending... gave me chills. I really think super rugby has the chance to get massive. Such a fantastic product all around. Cheers from the US!
Yes Reds! I was at Suncorp in 2012 for the win vs the Crusaders, epic atmosphere and last night seemed pretty big too. Wish I was there but I'm stuck in Canada as well. Nice work lads, stay together for years please!
2011
Superb Reds! Bloody good victory win. You never gave up, you applied so much pressure that the Brumbies had three sent to the yellow bin, and finally, finally, James O'connor gave you some more points to seal it!!! Well done to Brad, all his Staff and, of course, his Excellent Squad of talented, united players...BRILLIANT !!!
Just wait until the Kiwis pull up. No but honestly, great game. Great for Australian rugby. Hopefully they build from here.
JOC! Scored every single point for QLD tonight!
Love that stadium
James O'Connor is still amazing and has the X factor, still dirty about how they treated him but great to see him back in Australia and showing us his brilliance
Amazing match! Congratulations to both teams and specially to the Reds for wining the Championship. James O’Connor was a giant during this march! Well deserved wining try! 🇦🇺✌🏻💪🏻
Big Bad Brad Thorn affect. Queensland players now understanding his philosophy. It's all moving forward from here on.
Yep. Brad Thorn is a winner. Some are and some aren’t. He is.
I must say that despite all the hate Aussie rugby gets nowadays, that was an excellent showpiece!
What a game
WAOUHH !! Imaginez les 8 dernière minute sans publique... Merci les Australiens !!
Unbelievable rugby
What a classic game_Congrats to Queenslanders
Awesome result, awesome crowd.
Sheesh lol..being a kiwi watching these two aussie teams going at it..now this is good RUGBY! Tupou is another beast man..80min prop dominant from 1st minute to 80th minute 👌🏽
Two Best Teams ever go Head to Head. This Game me chills❤
10 years ago it was Quade Cooper & Will Genia.
10 years? Piss off mate, you’re making me feel old.
Wow oustanding game..JOC showed his class
So glad to see JOC back in top form and having success
Appalling tv camera work for the winning try
Wow what a game! So close. Gotta feel for the Brumbies though. So close.
Great game
Play clean
Stay mean
Congrats to Brad the Impaler
Brumbies had no chance with 2 men sent off the game is just not allowed to be played anymore another ref influenced grand final win. Reds got lucky in the end with 16 men against 13.
They were the ones infringing. It’s their fault the ref had to get involved.
@@HelloMyNamesNino bullshit, dude. those calls were 50-50 for any other ref. berry won it for the reds.
Sorry this was Saturdays boring story thank you next
@@regfries8279 ohh come on no sour grapes please
Hell of a game
Great final! I love rugby union
@hen ko :)
Espectacular
JOC's always been a match winner.
nah nic berry was the match winner
I still think he's highly underrated, he has amazing skills, class, intelligence, confidence and I see he always makes a side play better when he's on the field... he is an asset to the game
I feel for the Brumbies. 2 yellow card in the last minutes cost them big time
3 yellow cards in 2nd period, way too many
The cards were from their own mistakes. They can only blame themselves
@@ricardojuricic9027 it’s their fault purposely collapsing the maul and doing a extremely dangerous tackle no excuses it’s their fault
stolen by the ref, simple as that
I don’t follow this logic. They were deserved yellow cards, for offences that likely prevented Reds from scoring. No sympathy for cheating.
Great game. Tough luck Brumbies
Best thing to happen to Australian Rugby in 7 years
I congratulate Reds and personally James O'Connor
What a crowd!!👏👏👏👏
i thru my drink when i saw this from excitement.
Congrats Reds!.... I'm happy because Force manage to win the champions
Hectic game!
James oconner what a player
Great win by Reds, thanx boys, composure won the day, again. Brumbies grubby play cost them.
Good win but i think the rulings around tackles that initially hit the chest area and creep up should be changed. Those are ball and all tackles and are not intentionally dangerous. That said, good to see rugby in good shape in Australia.
The commentary for the try in the 2:43 seconds lit💯❤️❤️💯🙌🙌🙌
It wasn't a try though..
Partidazo loco
Awesome play reds three times a winner against brumbies 😎😎
great game, well done Reds
3:56 clean hit
A big turn out for the game. Great to see Aus.
Yeeeeeees! Finally, QLD!
The crowd is back for ozi rugby
Yessss..... Reds a the way from Uk😘😘😘🍹🍹🍹
Mantap Reds 👍
オーストラリアラグビーの勢いが戻ってきた気がする
Hoooiyt!
戻って来たんです!観衆42,000!素晴らしい!
What an end
highlights should just be nic berry with his arm up and the whistle in his mouth
Congratulations Reds
gooooooooood!
How is that a yellow?
Gutted I couldn't watch it live and even more gutted that Brumbies didn't win. Well done to the Reds
There was like 4 celebrations before the actual winning celebration
Cant believe the camera missed the winning try in the final
Hurricanes gonna whoop all Aus club😝 jks😅😅😅 can't wait next week💛🖤
The Brumbies when they were finally able to somehow win a scrum against the Reds:
👁 👄 👁
Reds beat the Brumbies in the three best games of the season
レッズ大好き
Nick white leading with the knees on the petaia no try
The Brumbies switched off on that JOC try.
Now to wrap up the Origin on the first two games...
Those last 5 minutes were insane! And that lens at 7:05 made it a movie 🎥 🤩
The game should focus on an even bigger domestic comp. This has tribalism We build great nationwide domestic comps. We only need a trans tas comp at very end. Buy Australian Made !!
Well done reds 👌
We’re is the tupo break danceing
Maloney not even calling them the Reds anymore.
What a finish 🔝🔝🔝wow
Well done (kiwi coached Crusaders legend Brad Thorn) Reds 👍👍👍👍👍would be a great trans tasman final if the reds & crusaders make it
Well, you video editor ruined the climax
Neither of these teams could live with the Crusaders
Unreal performance. Throw them in the Broncos I reckon they'll do better lol
Ia ready to meet the crusaders ⚔️🛡
well australia if you keep playing this sort of structured rugby expect to lose to NZ every time.
35 points scored but only 2 tries. If rugby wants to be successful in Australia it needs to start scoring tries. Penalties is boring.
