He was the NWA World Heavyweight Champion for 2,600 days and is considered one of the first major drawing cards of wrestling, post World War II. Khali was a terrible wrestler but with Taker saying Khali was like Thezs in comparison to Gonzalez, was him saying how terrible Gonzalez was.

He is giving us someone to look up to in another way. Undertaker or Mark, they both are legends just in different ways. I am living my best life with these podcasts.

      Hogan still speaks very highly of Undertaker. I know that Taker still harbors a bit of a bad taste about Hogan complaining about his neck being hurt after the tombstone piledriver in their big match decades ago. But even Hogan has admitted that after watching the tape and seeing that his head never hit the canvas that it must have been his own fault for tensing up.

      Oh god that match would have been atrocious. 2 guys who were almost 100% immobile and couldn't go for longer than a few minutes? And Gonzalez being completely incapable of doing anything remotely close to selling...the crowd would want to off themselves within seconds of the opening bell.

      Ummmm this wasn’t the footage and it was likely a house show so probably no footage.. this was their wrestle mania match & the UA-camr is taking this interview and editing in match footage to show example of the 2 in the ring & how George would hit Taker & I remember this giant in WCW & he was called LA Gante or something like that 😂

    Jorge "El Gigante" Gonzales suffered from pituitary gigantism. Had he been born in the US, he would have been treated in childhood and had his growth stopped at a normal amount. He died at age 44 due to complications from his condition. RIP.

      Have you ever seen the injuries these people sustained during their careers? You do realize even though these outcomes are predetermined, they actually have to go out and perform these maneuvers right? Anyone messes up and it leads to serious injury, like D’Lo paralyzing Droz, Owen Hart damn near paralyzing Stone Cold, Vince rearing both quads, etc.

    it really sucks seeing a huge, tall guy that failed in 3 major companies in 1 decade, and he didn't know how to speak English, all those ingrediencies were all there for a failure, it sucks seeing him fail, then in 95 due to his height caused him to retire only to die in 2010, this is bad, like no matter how much the guy tried it's like no one was helping this guy in any way because they thought he can handle it, weather if he can slam dunk a basketball, or rip a cage door, or do a huge close line, it's like everyone thought he didn't need training.

    I notice no one is mentioning the fact that taker got hit and said “when I got the feeling back in my fingers”
    the stories i’ve heard of taker’s toughness is crazy and for him to say after gonzalez hit him, he had to literally take a moment and recover before retaliating means that he was probably taking very stiff and hard hitting shots. I can’t imagine gonzalez hitting the back of my neck using his actual strength my god

    The only wrestling show I ever saw live was an un televised house show in 93. The main event was Taker vs. Gonzalez. It wasn't a good match, but I was just excited to see Undertaker do anything.

      To an extent, yes. Undertaker is more like 6'7''ish so Gonzalez being 7'7'' seems legit. There's pretty much a full foot height difference between them in this video.

    A couple wrestlers have said that Khali was well aware of his limitations and tried to work around what he could and couldn't do to the best of his ability. Big and intimidating man that was there mostly for that (plus the appeal to the Indian market), and he knew it.
