    I like the way you keep it real by not editing out all the little quirky things that go wrong when doing a job like this.

    Have replaced this compresors more than twice. It would be a good idea if you take off the heater plug conector and put it back before you install the compressor . Its way more easy to work on that wire lock

    Good info to know. I'm going to change out the ac compressor in my 2002 Chevy Silverado. The auto shop wanted to charge me $550 for parts & labor. I said I'll just UA-cam it and do it myself. Thanks for the video.

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Рік тому +2

      No problem! Just make sure you get the system purged very well before hand. Recharging can be done at home but I do recommend if you have a local shop that can do it to have them do it, they got the fancy machine that’ll pull vacuum and purge any pollutants that may have been introduced in the swap. Glad it helped!

    I'm sorry, but this video drives me nuts. While I don't believe it was intentional, there is a lot of wrong or unmentioned info here.
    1. When changing out a compressor you should always always always pull the orifice tube from the condenser and flush the condenser with some type of solvent and then compressed air
    2.Also always replace your receiver/drier
    3. Flush ALL LINES AND EVAPORATOR with some solvent and then compressed air
    4. Before ever adding refrigerant to the system ALWAYS vacuum for at least 30 minutes or you risk damage to your new compressor(you can check if it holds pressure while your gauges are hooked up to it and it's under vacuum by watching to see if the needle on the gauges moves back up towards 0)
    5. The Schrader valve in both the high and low pressure ports can 100% be swapped out, it's just not the typical Schrader valve that is most common.
    I have a 1995 K1500 and have repaired or replace just about everything possible on it. But that asidr, the video was well put together and I would definitely come back to learn more when I needed to provided I was confident the information I was being given was solid. I'm not trying to be mean or rude by any means here, just trying to give a newer channel some honest feedback

      Good! I’ll also suggest if it’s leaking to spray the high pressure fitting and low pressure fitting. My compressor was leaking and I also had a leak at my high pressure fitting! Good luck, hopefully you’ll get some coke AC.

    Would it be easier to take out the snap ring and O ring and such parts before putting the new compressor in place? Looking at doing this for my '94

    You can change the low and high fitting without buying new lines. I did it to my 95. Old style like that have a check ball the newer valves have a shrader valve

    Now I gotta get mine going before Springtime starts! Thanks for confirming how to do it all! ONE QUESTION: What about pulling a vacuum on the system - isn't that required?

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Рік тому +2

      So technically yes it is. It’s the best way to do it because with a new pump it is good to put the system under vacuum to get all the old stuff out and any debris that might be in there. Also when charging it’s better to first put it under vacuum it just helps absorb more refrigerant into the system. Take it to any body shop or somewhere that has one of the fancy AC machines and it’ll do all of that with a few clicks of some buttons. Shouldn’t be too expensive at all to just charge it up and what not, as long as you do are the one who puts the pump on.

  • @stephendavidcavuoti6548

    I agree but tell people they need to rinse the Condenser is properly right if you have a burned out compressor however you’re not gonna find any are 11 around to flush the system with so my point is the dryers and filters and all that should’ve been changed at the same time the compressor was changed the condenser if it didn’t have no leaks I doubt that it would have anything left in it now if it was a burn out I’d be replacing the condenser also which is more likely got a leak in it to

    I subscribed, and hope you post video of the new a/c lines. My compressor is noisy and leaks along the edges of the frame, so I'm just riding it out, and adding a can every 4ish months. I see you've had your channel for years like me. It's tough to get to monetization and to get the watch time hours and subscribers all in one. Good luck.

    How about putting oil in the system. Did you already put the amount of oil in the new compressor that it should have for the system. Normally for a complete syatem would be 3 to 6 ounces total?

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  8 місяців тому

    • @nickconnors8515

      Yes, to remove the compressor you are supposed to go get the system flushed out so you don’t release all the old refrigerant and oil.

    Does anyone know what the bolt size is that connects the bracket to the engine? My compressor was going out and apparently it vibrated out the bolt that connects the bracket itself to the engine. I pulled the compressor to install a bypass and saw the bracket was only being held by a stud? and the bottom bolt. The top of the bracket is a good inch or so away from the engine and allows the belt to walk off. I want to fix it, but since I never saw the bolt I have no idea what to replace with. Searching the web hasn't helped.

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Рік тому +1

      I was able to tell mine was shot because that’s where all my refrigerant was leaking from, the first one I got also crapped out in a month and in that case the compressor seized up. It depends on what symptoms you’re having.

      It did for a while, however I believe I may have messed up the amount of required oil along with possible faulty unit so I had to replace it once after. I double checked the unit and triple checked the oil and has been great ever since. I believe the proper oil amount for these compressors is 8 Oz of compressor oil.
