  • I go on a long fossil walk to the East of Lyme Regis, in conjunction with safe tide times. The best fossils are found at low tide .I hope you find some fossils along the Jurassic Coast-at low tide. Sometimes fossil hunting turns out to be treasure hunting, it’s fun just to see the “ treasures” on the large rocks. The Jurassic Coast really does have some stunning fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs. The best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast- #fossilhunter#fossilhunting#fossilammonites

    Another great video Brandon! It looks like that 2008 slip has been flattened out and eroded a great deal, I must get back soon! Fingers crossed theres a landslide soon! I was looking at a very interesting set of photos showing the cliff section between 2000-2022, crazy to see how much it has changed in that time! Again a cracking video fossil-wise and great to see the lovely dump bits too!

      Thanks 🙏 very much Tom, the mud was still slipping down from the back a bit in places. It’s a long and continuous slip this one - ever changing! I hope you can get down again in May- fossil collecting. April is almost over now and May offers a few good low tides to come collecting on.

    Those articulated plesiosaur vertebrae are just smashing! The 2008 landslide has flattened out quite a bit since March...back then the concrete slab was standing up 😮 I can't wait to go back. I love seeing the lovely sights in your videos

      Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments. It was interesting seeing the transition in the “ pill box” / blockhouse army structure. That base was standing right up, only to be flattened by the sea 🌊- eventually!

      I don't know at the moment if your allowed on that huge landslip. I'm keeping away from the dangerous area for a few days. The cliffs are still liable to fall suddenly and without warning there. Hopefully these rough easterly seas will wash a few fossils from it out onto the beaches.

    Loved the backbone and the lovely small crinoid....Trudie enjoyed her shout out😃👍 keep up the great videos Brandon....and any chance you can show your pathway to Pinhay Bay...(as we struggled over those big boulders😬)....also how do you tell the difference between the male and female ammonite??
    Nigel & Trudie😎

      Thanks 🙏 thats great, 👍🏻 you enjoyed the shout out. It was really good when you brought flowers down for the statue - last time 🕰️! The difference between male and female with those ammonites in the video, is that the male is much smaller . A bit like birds of prey where the male can be 25 times smaller than the female. The female also has sharp spines .

      @LymeRegisFossils  Рік тому

      Can have sharp spines 🌊 except when the sea gets to them 😁🌊🪨

    Another great video.. We are taking our 8yr old son to Lyme Regis for his birthday on Sunday on our first ever fossil spotting outing. Havent been sure which way to go, east or west. But think i may try Black Fen end as appears you can see some quite close to town. My 4yr old daugher wont be able to out to far. Wish us luck, he is soooo excited so really hope he will stumble upon one to take home!! 😁🤞🤞

      Good luck fossil hunting at low tide on Sunday. Beware of the dangerous cliffs they are liable to fall suddenly and without warning ⚠️! Stay away from the dangerous cliffs. I’ve got a video called Ammonite Lyme Regis, that really shows you how to look for fossils along the Jurassic Coast- at low tide . See “ Ammonite Lyme Regis.” That’s on my UA-cam channel. I will also forward you my current fossil walks ( standard) reply for more info for you !

      I have created a standard reply for the fossil walks at the moment. I am also in my shop in Lyme Regis running that a lot of the time. I will be fossil walking if you so wish to try this activity during July 2023 Sorry we have no availability for fossil walks until then.Nigel Clark local authour he does the fossil walks at times he may have passed you my way . He gets very busy like me in the holidays . Some one I recommend for the fossil walks is @mikeharrisonsfossils on Instagram his mobile no. is 07526563997. Your in safe hands on a fossil walk with MIke as he is a regular on the beach looking for fossils at low tide ! We have a video on UA-cam called "Ammonite Lyme Regis."My channel on UA-cam is “ Lyme Regis Fossils ,” if you’d like to view that please see the video I mentioned it really shows you how to find fossils properly at low tide- along the Jurassic Coast. You need a tide table book or knowledge of when it’s low tide here at Lyme Regis. You can go out an hour before low tide and hour after low tide looking East of Lyme Regis on the 2008 landslide . Thats a good place to sieve for fossils . We sell sieves at 7 Drakes Way , Lyme Regis DT7 3QP . Come to our shop for any more information you need on fossil collecting. We can give you the most up to date news possible on where to look and what to do on Lyme Regis East beach. Good luck on the beach and don’t venture near to the cliffs . The cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. The sea does the work for you washing the fossils out of mudslides and landslips.You have more beach to look at during low tide along the Jurassic Coast .Please see our video below on UA-cam, Thanks BrandonLennon….. “Black Ven Landslide , Lyme Regis , 11th November 2021

      ua-cam.com/video/LYAJ5rQQRVI/v-deo.html link to “ Ammonite Lyme Regis.” It’s a boring video but it sure has helped a few people to find the little golden ammonites - iron pyrite ammonites.

      Thank you so much for the reply and information. I will check out the shop and also ofcourse keep the kids well out the way of the cliffs. Tide times look perfect for our arrival time after a couple hours of driving so fingers crossed will be a great day.
      Thanks again and il keep following you videos as my son is getting very interested in the topic. 😁😁

    Is the proper pronunciation krin-noid or cry-noid? I always thought it was krin-noid

    • @LymeRegisFossils
      @LymeRegisFossils  Рік тому

      Cry-noid a lot of the fossil hunters around here call it .
