    Spot the Fossil!! I've been missing those segments, since you do a great job of balancing the ease and challenge of them. I watch on a telephone screen, and successfully spotted 3 out of the 7. Pretty sure I didn't spot more because I kept getting distracted by other potentials. X) So, thumbs up, I think you did well with these spotting sessions for us.
    Wow! That multi-orientation nodule was something else! I'm impressed that it cracked away from the ammonite on edge, rather than through it.
    Thank you for showing us the plesiosaur vertebra and rib, and showing how they may have gone together. Museums always show pictures of a person shadow standing beside a dinosaur shadow to give an idea of the size, but it's so much more effective to see a human hand holding one of the bones.

    • @YorkshireFossils
      @YorkshireFossils  Рік тому +2

      Glad you like these segments coming back, I’ll aim to include more! Well done on the fossils that you spotted 🙌🏻
      I think it’s great to hold the fossils for scale too, and to be able to lift them up and show all the way around them. Some fossils are of course too large to pick up, but holding fossils like this works well

    2:10 yes just how I thought it would look!
    Also did you spot the partial dactilioceras outer whirl in the bottom right? It probably wouldn’t be worth bringing back only being a segment and all but it was pretty big and good condition

    • @YorkshireFossils
      @YorkshireFossils  Рік тому +2

      I think I saw it but because it looked partial I didn’t pick that one up

    Nice effect with the split screen. I like trying to spot the fossil but it’s hard I think because it’s only 2 dimensional.

    So about the difficulty, the hiddoceras was quite easy for me but the first one I would never have found along with the one after the hildoceras but other than moving closer so you have less options there’s not much you can do

Also, could you do an episode showing us the different species., with the names in print. Do you watch Michigan Rocks. He finds beautiful fossils too.

    When they are formed, they also float in the river. You will have to read a text about the process of its formation.

    Its story is millions of years old. The name of this stone is Shaligram. It is formed in the river of Nepalganj, near the origin of the river on the top of the Himalayas.

    Some metal detecors will ping when you run them over pyrite, have you ever thought of using one of those in your hunts? I think getting some arial drone footage kf the area and especially the cliffs (since you cant approch them) woukd be pretty cool.

    What if they were actually the same creatures!!!
    ( just ignore the fact they don’t have a relatively recent common ansestor, don’t look remotely alike, and are pretty much polar aquatic opposites )

    These stones are made in Nepal and float in the river, people come to some shore and those who know how to give, swim and take them out. I think they go to the sea and reach this place.

  • @GoGo-ck1sb
    @GoGo-ck1sb Рік тому

    🙏 These crops are made in Nepal and they are called Shaligram. Sanatan Hindus worship it and the story of their formation is also in Hindu texts. Its history is millions of years old according to Hindu texts.

    How do you know the vertebrae belongs to a plesiosaur?

    • @YorkshireFossils
      @YorkshireFossils  Рік тому +1

      We have studied Plesiosaur anatomy and can they have these distinct vertebrae 🦴 It’s possible this is actually Pliosaur, if that ends up being the case I’ll add that to a future video
