I’m 6’6” (199cm) and rode it today. I was really surprised I sat comfortably and could shift and brake easy. Had I watched this before I would not be surprised! The flat (hard) seat adds to it too, being able to slide back and forward a bit.
Dude, you just made my day. As a short guy trying to get back into riding, it's difficult to find something that balances looks with a decent sized engine and the CL500 hits that sweet spot for me. I'm experienced enough where being on my tiptoes is not a big deal.
I think this is one of the bikes that needs to be seen in person to really make a call on, especially the muffler bit. Pictures and videos sometimes aren't reliable enough to adequately make the call.
Yep for sure Flat Cap. Probably apples to most bikes really.
With a lot of years under my belt riding bikes it's nice to see seat heights coming back down. Sports bikes with engines sat higher for greater balance and lean angle. Pushed seat height to new levels. With age I find tip toeing about horrible.
Couldn't agree more. Owned a 1978 400cc Honda Hawk with the exact same seat height.
Interesting bike, looking forward to your ride review.
It looks ideal for those under 5'10." Over that height, it begins looking cramped. Rotating the handlebar forward 1" - 2" may help (if the grip angle is still acceptable).
Excellent work. Many thanks. Will be booking a test ride for this one.
Thanks Matt!
Thank you! Nice video!
Looks great, just waiting for the pricing and a test ride, I think I have found my next bike then they add another one...
I like that velg 👍
I wonder if with 182cm I might be too tall for that bike? I love that scrambler but don't want to see my ears placed between my knees. Your video already answers that. Seating position looks good enough for me.
Thanks for the interesting video.
Thumbs up!
Very insightful video, nicely done!
Thank you!
Thx. V useful
Nice bike, but the tank is too small. The range will be very limited (which is an unfortunate trend among MANY Honda bikes, lately). Thank you for the great video!
Thank you!
it drinks under 4l for 100kms. So the range is pretty good with 12 liters, many bikes dont have 300km range.
Thank you.
Really wonder about switching my Svartpilen 401 for this one. I desire a bit of space and length in particular - I wonder if this would make it better, or just be trading sideways.
Fantastic idea showing height comparisons
Cheers! My patrons are helping me to make more of them over on Patreon. And I have hundreds of bikes already covered here on UA-cam. We're no longer allowed to share links to these resources on UA-cam sadly.
Very excited for this bike.
Wouldn't trade in my CMX500 for it so hopefully they come out with an 1100 Variant.
I think it will be popular. Hadn't thought about an 1100 cc version, that could be a possibility.
Would love a 1100cc version
This shares a large amount of components and "look" from the Rebel 500.
I'm 6'6'' and a beginner rider so I don't have much to compare this bike to. I rented it for a week and while I felt very secure on it my right hand started cramping up after three days of heavy riding. Might this be related to the bike's size?
Inside leg measurement is normally for trouser length, therefore not ground to groin but
ground to approximately lower ankle.
I think we need a definition that everyone is familiar with, as most people's understanding
of their inside leg length (as for instance printed on the waistband of a pair of Levi's)
will be very different to the one you are using.
It's either inseam or inside leg. I originally used inseam but that definitely refers to trousers so I switched to inside leg. I think people understand what I'm talking about.
@@BikesILike You are correct also overall height is misleading.
It es look good but it's a shame they haven't made a true off-road version of the Cb500x, I can't imagine it's too difficult.
I wonder if they're expecting the Transalp to fill that role?
Hi Bill, good looking bike, like it. 😊😊😊🇬🇧👍🏻
Agree! I think it will sell well Gaz.
It seems like the measurement that most affects long inseam riders' 90* knee-angle is: foot-peg to seat-height? I notice that for many bikes that is about 18", yet for a few dual-sports it may be 22".
Also peg position forward and back. It can make a big difference.
I couldn't get the BIL logo at the end directed to my channel. 😂 To go straight to my channel click the BIL logo attached to this comment.😉
I can flatfoot my CB500F so is the seat height on the CL500 the same?
If you can flat foot the CB500F you can flat foot the CL500 Andrew. The CL500 is only 1 mm higher. :) Seat heights: CB500F = 789 mm and CL500 = 790 mm.
I'm 188 cm and I think I would be feeling very uncomfortable. The 500 Rebel parking in my street looks like a tiny toy to me. Plus this bike is meant for the city, they should have add a carrier for a bag.
Can you add one or two more heights (6'6" and 6'8") in your videos?
I'll have another look at that Ayush.
good job
Thank you! Cheers!
1,60-1,70 max
Its sibling models have double discs and new suspension. CL model is not competitive.... I am very sad
The CL500 is based on the Rebel platform which still has a single disc on the front.
My new kTm looks better😁
500cc? Nope doesn't fit, I buy a bike to go faster than my car!
