My headcanon is that Kuzon told Aang that other Fire Nation citizens call each other hot man because he thought it would be a great prank and ironically it took 100 years to pay off.
That foot scar is a genius inclusion. Wow! Great job animators (or whoever knew to add it).
Overanalyzing Avatar mentions it and how consistently it is there in book 3. Until it isn't.
@@wombat4191 While I agree it's probably an oversight it's important to remember the foot scar disappearing actually makes more sense than the back. There are places on the body where things like tattoos fade very quickly. People with bottom-of-foot tattoos usually need annual touchups so the tattoo doesn't fade. Most scars fade with time, but it happens faster with scars and tattoos on hands/feet
Also, also: Aang got his tattoos partially because he invented the air scooter technique. He mentions it in the dark horse comic "the promise" part 2.
I've read a theory that the air-scooter is just a forbidden technicue of the air nomads. That's what uses Zaheer on the Earth-Queen in Korra.
@@StoryLover-7 You might be right but I think that is a different kind of technique. The one I mean is where Aang creates an airball and rides it like a scooter. Like we see in the intro of the animated Series where crashes into the statue. Creating a ball out of air (not the breathtaking and killing kind of course) is a common airbending technique before but Aang was the first one to use it as a way of transport by riding it
@@StoryLover-7 Uuh, the "air scooter" is the ball of air Aang rides around on sometimes.
That's why Jinora gets her tattoos at 11. She invents astral projection which qualifies her as a master. It has nothing to do with him being the avatar.
@@StoryLover-7That makes zero sense. It's a move Aang invented. The ability to remove air from the lungs of others or from the environment as a whole is a completely separate ability.
11:30 also theres the fact that from the beginning Katara is the ONLY ONE that can calm Aang down when he's in the rage mode Avatar state such as when he finds out Monk Gyatso died or when Appa is stolen.
Recently, I've heard a very interesting take on the series's ending:

Please do one of these for Iroh, because Iroh's awesome and there's so much going on with him. I remember when I realized that the reason he was "lazy" in the first season is because he was trying to get Zuko to let go of the anger.
Added layer: Iroh too was once a prince who lost his way.
Grey eyes are always taking on shades of colors around them in real life. Someone with grey eyes will look like they have green eyes when wearing green, etc.
I wonder if I actually have grey eyes then and they just shift in the light. Lots of people describe me with blue eyes, I look at myself in the mirror and see my eyes as green with brown. My mom says I have blue eyes with green, brown and grey, which are like her dad’s. My eye colour is weird. Lol

I have to disagree with you unfortunately, While it's a heck of a lot better than the new percy jackson series it has some of the same problem of having way too much time spent with people expositing which made it pretty boring throughout.@@qiyo2812
@@qiyo2812 I had just one bigger problem with it and it was Aang and him being depressed and anxious all the time. Realistic to a kid that lost everything and has a huge burden on him, yes. But Aang is a really happy go lucky kind of kid and this Aang just wasn't.
Also weird he didn't do any water bending in first season, but that's just a minor weird detail they choose to make

6:10 I think the tattoos are locked behind mastering all 36 airbending techniques. Aang mastered 35 but got the tats through a loophole by inventing the air scooter technique, bringing his total to 36.
14:08 Why does Aang talk to Koh?
There's actually more to that question. Why does he need to do it? Yue later tells how she was saved by the moon spirit, and it is shown in a flashback how her parents placed her in the spirit oasis where the moon spirit was swimming. So surely she should have known what the moon spirit is, or at least her father should have. So yeah, why exactly did Aang need to talk to Koh to find out about the spirits?

i honestly thought the foot scar was the lightning entry wound and the back scar the exit wound since azula attacked from below him. and generally exit wounds are larger than entry wounds

Actually a lot of airbenders used to be able to fly, but then they found Sky-bisons and became attached to them.
The scars are actually incorrect. Though typically when lighning strikes a person it enters through the higher point and goes into the ground when Azula fires it it comes out of her and into Aang's foot making that the entry point.

I think some of these come from the live action show, where Aang does fully fly not using his glider or Appa and in the first season he does not use a single kind of bending besides airbending a single time

7:06 I interpret that question as “how did he get in ice when he’s an air bender” because he wouldn’t know how to bend water or to freeze it. All he should know how to do is to create the air pocket
I think it’s only because he was in the Avatar state that he was able to freeze the ice. Tapping into the abilities of his past lives I think is how it was explained by Roku, anyway.
on the tattoo question, you skipped over that air nomads had to create a new skill which Aang did with his air scooter

The glowing tattoos is likely due to the pigment in the ink being sensitive to spiritual changes when the Avatar goes into the Avatar state because there is also statues with glowing eyes which likely use the same pigment in the paint.
Don’t know if it’s intentional but movie AWNG is actually closer to the mandarin pronunciation of Aang’s name : 安昂 as it’s written in the show( coz the show uses traditional Chinese characters in their writing like Appas poster) here’s the catch, the movie doesn’t even use Chinese characters but instead uses weird swiggly lines so it actually makes less sense
Some of the questions like 'Why does Aang only use air bending' are question people have about the live action show.
And it also happens when they try to jump tenzen from above if u don't pay attention it go over your head i don't remember the episode but it was in season 1
I know the avatar books don't leave as much open as the HP books do but I would love to see y'all do some fan theory videos with those!
You guys should check out “The Three-Body Problem” its definitely a sci-fi series rather than a fantasy but its a trilogy of immense scope and plenty of streaming services are fighting over the rights to produce their own versions of the show, Netflix has their own coming this year, and Peacock already released theirs

Aang actually briefly achieved true flight during the episode "cross roads of destiny" after he lets go of Katara but he is then immediately struck by lightning from Azula and can no longer do this
I have an answer for 12:02 or at least a theory.
It’s not that aang only uses air. But he does use it the majority of the time.
My theory is that it’s because it’s the element he’s most comfortable and most natural with. The element and life style he was born into. So he uses it more often. especially under fight’s and stress he wouldn’t have to concentrate so much on how to air bend vs the other elements because it comes naturally.
That and aang is a pacifist and prefers not to use violence or aggressive means. Air is much more peaceful than the others.
I think that is the answer
In the show he also had years of air bending experience but mere months with the others, makes sense they wouldn’t all be 100% comfortable to him yet.

5:00 His eyes change from gray to blue to gray again in the Ember Island Players episode when Toph says that frankly, his earthbending could still use some work too xD I can never NOT see it. They hold that color for as long as Aang looks at Toph after she says that.
You guys should do a what if for Avatar I think a fun what if would be, What if Zuko was the avatar? In this what if Aang would have died all those years ago and the avatar state eventually moves to Zuko making him the avatar.
Maybe they meant the glow from the Avatar State when they asked about Aang's eyes changing colour? :P

Idk when this was filmed, so I could be wrong, but I think the “Why does Aang only use air bending?” Could be in reference to the new Netflix show. Aang doesn’t even attempt to bend a single drop of water the whole season until he merges with the ocean spirit.
Honestly a WILD change for the show. Mastering all the elements is one of Aang’s main motivations, but I guess he just doesn’t even care in the Netflix verse

I think by eye color changing they mean when they become white/blue and glowy.
I believe the region the movie that shall not be named seem to prnounce stuff differently is because M Night being Indian, he probably doesn't elongate the A in more sanskrit sounding words like we do in english. So, Aang becomes Auhng and Avatar becomes auvtar. Some of his changes makes sense but others like Iroh and Sokka don't. Actually, Auvtar is how you usually pronounce it in sanskrit but the way the show says it how the creators decided. So, we just stick by it.
I think the ice question is more directed at, why didn't Aang just zoom back out of the water instead of sealing himself in ice?
My local radio broadcast just woke me up this morning with the news, that Avatar life action doesn't get the second season...
I was devastated by that news...
But then they said, it will instead get a second and a third season.

I don’t know for sure if it’s the same with lighting strikes, but with bullet wounds, the exit wound is always larger than the entry wound.
Also Azula was beneath Aang when she zapped him. Assuming the lightning continued in an upward path, in through his foot and out his back follows that trajectory.

The show shows multiple times Aang being struck from the back whenever he remembers the lightning bolt

Actually, Air benders get their tattoos for mastering all airbending technics, OR inventing a new one. Since Aang invented the air scooter, Aang was able to get tattoos.
Jenora was able to astralproject, so she got her tattoos in a similar way.
I think aang did fly for a short period when he detached himself to use the avatar stated right before azula shot him
What if idea: what if the fire nation never attacked? Who would have been the next avatar? I think there's a good argument for Katara since the next avatar was meant to come from the southern water tribe, which is why they were so heavily attacked by the fire nation during the 100 year war
Probably why does aang only uses air bending is due to the liveaction (not sure if it was released before this video)
