All tourists who return from Goa can’t seem to shut up about this seafood restaurant as part of their Goan hangover. As a Goan, I can say that what Shanky had (also owing to his facial expression), was definitely NOT sol kadhi. Its supposed to be a very simple, buttermilk equivalent, accompaniment drink/ complimentary mixing beverage to “aamti” or fish curry, to be had with rice. The sour/salty taste should only come from the “सोलं”/kokam pieces that are freshly crushed with one chopped green chilly, minced coconut, water & fresh coriander leaves. That’s the traditional way of having sol kadhi. Goes with any fish thali, actually.

@@TheBigForkers I was recommended a place called Bhatti Village in Nerul/Candolim area. Supposed to be home style cooking with good pork dishes. Haven't eaten there myself, but if you guys like it, I'll head there the next time I'm that side.

Idk what you need to know about the place? Man! you're in Goa. Eat seafood or konkani styled chicken/mutton/beef. It takes no genius to figure out what to order if you're a non-vegetarian hanging around in Goa

If you want to feast on sea food, there is this small bar down the slope of Dona Paula named 'Lokpriya Bar & Restaurant', where you get love cooked seafood. Believe me been going there for more than 12 years. But just inform them one day before since they order very limited raw seafood enough for small crowd. Must try......

The Assolna location is the real deal. And yes, not associated with pretenders like the Arpora location. The Assolna location is known as Pussie's Starlight. Pussie is the pet name of the co-owner Relly Rodrigues 🤫😂

I've been visiting Starlight since 2015 and I have always loved the food there. Not sure if it was a bad day for you guys or the food quality there has deteriorated. Will find out soon hopefully.

You should try the Star Light in Asslona that's the original one and filled with locals and has a beautiful view of the river Sal. Also try Pedro's in Benualim beach, try the bombil/Bombay duck fry and Lepo/sole fish, best chakna with your drinks

Hi Big Forkers, I have been to this place twice, 1st time it was hype, second time I wanted to give them a chance again! It was a not a pleasant experience for me, though I had a lot of fried prawns and my wife is a mackerel fan. So we took Thalis. All in all, twice a fool maybe not the third time. Since you are in Goa, why dont you rivew Ritz Cafe in Panjim. It was a iconic food junction, I have no idea what happened post Covid. But that's worth after all the places you have been, also on they way back Sawantwadi, Mahalaxmi Khanaval, I know it's too much reviewed already, but it might be great to get a second review. @@TheBigForkers wow I just realized that the owner of the place is also someone with last name “Haldankar” I am not related to them at all and only found out when leaving the place the first time I went there. Mind you it is not a touristy place tho. Also the restaurant right opposite used to have very good food (I am not sure how it is now as I have not been there in a few years but I don’t see a reason why it won’t be good still )
