INGREDIENTS
-4pcs chopped garlic
-2Cups rice
-sprinkle of salt
-a bit of margarine/butter
-2pcs chopped onions
-1head chopped garlic
-2.2Kilo mixture of beef camto and beef kalitiran sliced into chunky cubes
(1Kilo Beef kalitiran and 1.2Kilo Beef camto)
-1tsp salt and ground black pepper
-4Tbsp soy sauce
-5Tbsp oyster sauce
-water enough to submerge the meat
-2pcs star anise
-5Tbsp light brown sugar
-slurry (4Tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 4Tbsp water)
-chopped spring onions
-crispy chili garlic

I was the oldest of 8 siblings . Your story is very common among Pinays . Even my mother till she died was a terrible cook . My friends, acquaintances in college, wives of my brothers did not cook either even after marriage. Don't even know how to beat eggs or cook rice without the rice cooker. I had an aunt, the wife of an uncle (mother's side, I spent my highschool years with them in Zamboanga City)who taught me ways in the kitchen every weekends with special dishes , meals and baking . Watching KF keeps me abreast of techniques , dishes I'd forgotten, new recipes. You are in good hands having KF as cooking mentor.

Hi! Why do you always sauté the Onions first followed by garlic?
I want to bring out the natural sweetness of the onion through high Heat fast.. If I put the garlic firs, it will burn in an instant even before I add the onion.. If I were to lower the flame setting to avoid the garlic from burning, then it will take longer time sauteeing to bring out the sweetness of the onion.. 😉😊
