in many cases you're correct , but what they laid down was the ice bin. They did this to put the feet on the bottom of the bin. The compressor is in the top half of the unit along with the condenser (if its not a remote unit) and evaporator. so no harm no foul :) ice machines like the cuber in this video , are typically two separte parts : the bin , and the ice machine it self.

Condensate pumps can be used in certain applications when the drain is not in proximity to the ice maker. However, your inspector will have ultimate say if this is allowed. Although this is commonly done, it is always best to verify with your local inspector!
The ice maker needs a pre filter and water filter dedicated to the amount of gallons per hour the unit uses. Some customers like using an RO system in conjunction as long as the RO is maintained! However, be careful with water softeners as these will affect the production of the machine.
500 LBS on spec but in most applications it's lower... closer to around 375-400 lbs. We suggest customers go up a size up if they truly need 500 lbs of ice.

Back flow is integral with the ice machine operation. There is no need for a separate backflow preventor! 👍
