The most important tip that they didnt mention is, if your not 100% sure, dont take the risk.

Another tip is take a basket or similar rather than using a carrier bag like I did with my son when he was little and by the time I got home to ID everything it'd turned into mushroom soup!! 😊

The pentagram makes me think he's a druid. Normally I'd be freaked out and think satanic but bc he's so into the garden and mushrooms and herbs I'd say big time druid

You can touch any mushroom! Especially Amanita Muscaria (fly agaric). Not only are they beautiful, when prepared properly can be enjoyed with a very fun outcome. (Do NOT injest without doing research first!)
You will not get sick from even putting a mushroom in your mouth and spitting it out. A toxic mushroom (like the destroying angel or death cap: Amanita Bisporigora and Amanita Phalloides) must be digested for it to release its toxins. Experienced mushroom hunters will even use taste as a form of ID.

It is safe to touch most poisonous mushrooms (I think I heard of one possible exception). Just don’t eat them. 😊 Do your own research of course. And some people do eat small amounts of the fly agaric for its psychedelic effects.

Amanitas are the least safe genus of mushroom for beginners, a lot of species there will fry your liver. Boletus, cantharellus, and hydnum are all more safe options for beginners
Try some cubensis first

Right? I’m wondering how many fungus foraging societies we have in SLC UT s well lol the desert not being known for the abundance of wild mushrooms . Does lichen count?
There is the Los Angeles Mycology Society, you can also take a class on fungi at a local University without being a student. Because of the current drought it may all be learning from books, but if you travel further north on the coastal regions there’s more activity.
It's LA, one of the largest cities. Ya'll have everything. I'm sure you have several.

They spread really fast. I think it’s not dramatic if you take 4-5 mushrooms.
I heard that if you eat 1kg of any mushroom whether it’s poison or not you’ll be safe because it counteracts. Is this true?

Does anyone know how to preserve mushroom prints? I have used acrylic clear coat and hair spray and both make the spore print disappear.

There are only a bunch of mushrooms that are feasible for foraging. So no need to dig through vast amounts of of crappy or misleading mushrooms. Everything with a dress in the stem, changing colors when broken in half, some weird designs =just don't bother. Skip
