Forget my previous post. Just tried some shots following your advice with my trail hand more on top of the club. Huge difference with my club face control and lag. Thanks so much!!
I’m sending this to my lessons, like I often do with AMG. Great job! You’re making my job as an instructor easier and far more effective. Thank you both.
Winter is still holding its grip on Sweden, but as soon the snow is gone I will take this drill to the range. Can't wait until my golf course opens. You are the best out there with your swing analysis and drills to make my golfing experience som much more enjoyable.
Thanks chaps. This was very well explained. Every time I’ve tried to lower the dynamic loft by shoving the hands forward I get very close to the hosel. This is what I was missing I think!
Great video AMG! I heard you say something about a screwdriver the other day (left hand loosening a screw). So simple but highly effective. The other thought that has worked for me was pretending I was twisting the water out of a towel with my right hand on the downswing (clockwise for a right-handed golfer). So many pros do this move at the top of their backswing when they start down. I always wonder if the pros were taught this at an early age or if a lot of them were lucky enough to do it naturally. I wish I could've had this lesson at the age of 5.
Tried this and I've never hit the ball as well in my life. Long and straight with a feel of compression I've never before experienced. Feels like I can hit as hard as poss with the body. Sadly though this has put so much stress on my arms and wrists I've finished up with Tendonitis in my right forearm. Agony. Probobly out of golf for several months. Damn!
Many thanks this helps me to understand better why I probably shank my wedges on the driving range, typically during warmup, but not on the course. Will try the drill when I can get to practice again.
It's amazing how the smallest things make the biggest differences. I've made a lot of progress in the last couple of years with your help. But lately, I've unfortunately started to regress. Complacency, I suppose. But coming back to this gem really sorted me out today. I felt like I really had control of the face again. It's so easy for me to let my right hand take over. Which can work for a little while. But ultimately, I'm convinced that this is the right way for me to go. Thanks again, AMG 🫡
Great video, but my club face is closed at top, being told to have it open at top, then swing to close at impact, and release Clube vs holding off in old swing...does that make sense?
Good to see an athletic motion video! Been a while. Great video. Anyone who is trying to improve should watch overhand golf the holy grail. The man is a genius.
For the "beep beep" challenge I got "Sqa th", short for sqare the club face,, LOL! That's really fast! No wonder I cant hit it like Tiger, ha ha, the absolute fastest swing I ever witnessed in person (2000-2002)! I always wondered where the dreaded shanks came from and now I get it. Shanks a lot guys! Excellent instruction as always.
Can my club face be too closed throughout the swing a la DJ? I guess I'm answering my own question, but I'm an amateur, and don't know if that makes sense for me or if I lose power by keeping the club face more closed throughout my swing. It does make club face control a whole lot easier.
I definitely struggle with this as well, but I'm a lefty golfer who is right-hand dominant. Any additional suggestions (other than learn how to hit righty)? Same drills?
The face open number is relative to the target line though, so with 110 degrees of body/hips turn his face is about 10 degrees open in reality which is due to forearm rotation independent of the body/hips. Is that correct?
Not exactly because it’s not a true one-to-one of face to body. Have to take into account the arms/wrists as well. But even if it was, there would still be a 20-30 degree shortage.
What would be your proposal on a golf grip, especially for the right hand. Rather neutral to weak? Most pro's would tell me to have a strong right hand, to grip it from underneath the golf club to promote a draw and work against a slice. Maybe because of forearm rotation !? But does this not prevents me to have this nice compression feeling with the right hand and to cover the ball as you would say? Nice vid btw !! :-)
I'm left handed and it's my right arm that's my strong arm, here's my problem. In Tennis, I serve with my right arm/ hand, but as soon as I serve, I put the racquet in my left hand to control my shots...but got no power with my left arm...does this make sense to you? any tips...
My thought was 'rotate left wrist' (to square the face). The first time I tried I got as far as "Rotate le" and just laughed out loud LOL. So I tried several more times and actually got to the point where I almost completed visualising the move before the second beep, but that meant I still needed to start and finish the downswing so I'll need another 0.23 seconds please 😊
When you show the degrees of open from the top, does that mean open to the swing arc or open to target line? If it’s just the target line then one doesn’t need to have the same forced rate of closure that is being implied, as swinging the club through will square it mostly.
Great advice but it left out 1 key point, that is if the right arm is over active early that you will never square the face to the path cause the path will always be to the left
@@redeagle9312 sounds like you are squaring the face just fine but just cant get the path right. That would be because the right arm straightens to early
Thanks, great video! First, how should you have your right hand grip to achieve this right flat hand feeling? Seems also like an a early bowed left wrist would also give this feeling maybe?
My swing thought was “my game would be so much better with some AMG swag”. I lesson learned. Next time just think “Swag!!!” As always, incredible lesson. That was amazing
Firstly, as an instructor, thank you for making our lives easier with material to send students too! Secondly, it's funny how feel-wise this is so opposite end of the spectrum of "shallow the club and get it behind you", and yet the hips just naturally get into that range of 20-45 open at impact
Good stuff, as usual. My nickname is Hooker because I get to the bottom, stall and flip with a tight right hand grip. I’m recovering from hip replacement and have been practicing in my basement with my right hand thumb and forefinger making a big “O” not touching the grip. Club stays behind the hand, better rotation, better contact. Not sure if I can play it this way but anxious to see what happens (-19 degree wind chill and 6 inches of snow so it may be a few days.
for the average weekend hacker, I really feel that you present too much data and technical info that literally overwhelms the casual duffer that is trying to get better
Thanks for the feedback! I’d encourage you to read through more comments and watch other videos. We are NOT a “swing tip” channel. Our goal is to deliver accurate info. Sometimes that requires more thought and effort, but that’s all part of becoming a better golfer. The average golfer doesn’t play often or try to make the changes necessary to improve - which is perfectly fine. Our channel and info is for anyone looking to understand correct concepts and actually go through the effort to improve.
Respectfully this lind of disection isnt helpful for someone that struggles as it doesnt provide much remedial discussion. The best way to avpid all of this nonsensical thinking is to have a proper setup grip and takeaway and downswing. Then all falls into place 😉
We show what happens in good swings. We do that so golfers can develop the correct concepts for whatever area of the swing they are working on. Then we show simple drills to help implement the correct concepts. If that's too much to think about, maybe you should stop watching the videos if you don’t find them helpful. Tens of thousands of other golfers find it helpful, and we plan to keep helping them.

This may have made the most sense, of any video I've ever watched. What the right hand really needs to be doing in the down swing. Great stuff! Thanks
I’m sending this to my lessons, like I often do with AMG. Great job! You’re making my job as an instructor easier and far more effective. Thank you both.
Thanks for the share🙏🏻
Hope you're paying their Royalties?
I've solved my problem with this. so helpful~ thank you.
Very important and critical point!
Thanks guys. Can't wait to go out and to practice.
Let us know how it goes👊

great!
Fantastic. Thanks so much for illustrating this important concept.

We see that happen a lot too 😬

Yes I could. Thinking shift turn shift turn

That was an eye opener!
If your a natural lefty playing golf right handed should you do this drill with the right arm instead of the left?
This video and drill saved my game, was contemplating taking an extended leave due to shanking. Thanks guys
Great video, but my club face is closed at top, being told to have it open at top, then swing to close at impact, and release Clube vs holding off in old swing...does that make sense?
Great tip! I was skeptical because I thought I would hit the ball way left but I tried it and hit the ball great!
At 6:45 gears says the clubface is 118.49 degrees open. Relative to what? Thanks
The club shaft plane I presume...
Haha loved the tone and closing eyes. I tried simple square the face and did not even have time to think about it and it was over.
It’s a real eye opener (pun intended 😂), at least it was for us
Good to see an athletic motion video! Been a while. Great video.
Anyone who is trying to improve should watch overhand golf the holy grail. The man is a genius.
I had conflicting thoughts, pushing my hips to the left and dropping my right elbow to shallow the the Club.
Makes so much sense all the time
thanks!
Does the right shoulder and right hip fire in unison in the Down swing?
Similar to pushing the palm of the right hand on the shaft, I did a drill that mimics releasing a bowling ball down the lane. It helped me lots
Thank you for the demonstration and the great drill! I will try it out tomorrow :-)

Thought was “squat”!!! then I just started laughing at the beeps. Great demonstration fellas
My thought was “skip” and it was pretty close. The skipping a stone motion helps me shallow the club and get the side bend going
Nice

Swinging through does not take care of squaring. If it did, we’d be out of work😊
I did say mostly! You didn’t answer my question - what is the club face open to?
@@johnnybravo9087 it’s not mostly either, and it’s open to both.
I know. But there is a number on the screen from 7 min on that has degrees open. It can’t be representing both with just one number.
Hey Guys! Can you apply the same feel to a driver?
I'm wondering why my balls are always so short and shitty, then realize I'm having a whole paragraph of thought during the downswing.
Totally worked a quadric equation word problem in that .0228 seconds....boom!
🤓😂👏
Mike, are you located in Ga?
Liked the reference to Brian Manzella
The model is justin thomas
Wow...no though at all...too quick! Very neat demonstration!
Great advice but it left out 1 key point, that is if the right arm is over active early that you will never square the face to the path cause the path will always be to the left
Your comment makes me think because my problem is that ball goes to left so many times. Good point and thanks.
@@redeagle9312 sounds like you are squaring the face just fine but just cant get the path right. That would be because the right arm straightens to early
Great point and we’ve got a lot coming about the right arm. Hint: when it goes left it’s not because it straightens too early😊

I didn't even get the first frame visualized of my motorcycle move downswing thought.
Wow~. That is really telling~
Couldn't even open my eyes between tones!
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the point that you really don’t have time to think and react to a swing thought during the swing.
Thought: Left hip. I can think it by the time the 2nd bell sounds. No way I can actually do it
Thanks, great video! First, how should you have your right hand grip to achieve this right flat hand feeling? Seems also like an a early bowed left wrist would also give this feeling maybe?
It sure would👍

Shallow the club and no time
Thought: Rotate the back of th- BEEP!
😆🤓
Wow!! I knew I started doing this about 4 years ago but couldn’t figure out what it was coming from! Thank you!
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

We can try a lot of stuff when it’s 30 seconds, but not so much when it 1/4 second😊
Thanks for the shares!🙏🏻
Didnt get a thought 💭

My wife is recovering from here replacement too. Let us know how that change works when u get the chance to try it out.
Can’t think of anything during the beeps Too fast.
Smeshed it.
Oh shit!
My problem is i nefer felt the compassion
Bow wrist (L)
"I'm gonna put my finger on your sweet spot..."
Palm down. I got palm. Lol
Thought was "cover" and not even close ...
Hmmmm what should my swing thought be... beep-beep
Beep-Brin-BEEEP.

Way too short time. No way to think anything!!! Wow I shocked such a short time.
I got nothing….guess just let it fly
Please, come back. And if you do nothing else, do the last drill. Around 9:15
No way think that fast.
