      I had that ginger powder. I used it by stirring it into my applesauce 'just because its good for you'. I will not buy it again. When I'm sick I blend fresh grated ginger in the blender/water and drink it that way. I think you get more benefits from fresh.
      Love the date/chocolate/coconut brownie bar idea. Yummy!

    Ginger is antiinflammatory, helps RA and helps boost your immune system, where as RA patients have a problem with their immune system.

    As a rule we don't have sweets in the home and even dates in cooking are very limited. Fresh fruit or banana ice cream made with the Vitamix are our sweets of choice.

    Thanks for reading the ingredients in the dressing. I hope TJ’s has it next time I go and the jicama wraps. Use some soy curls with taco seasoning. I cook the soy curls with the taco seasoning in the instant pot on slow cooking set to high for 4hrs and delish! Just like chicken tacos

    Ginger is really good for digestion, I chew the candies when I have an upset stomach or nausea. I've heard it's good for the body to have some warm lemon water with ginger first thing in the morning. It is good for digestion on an empty stomach. I bet you guys could use that ginger powder really creatively in some cooked recipes! I love that all of these products are so simple, with straightforward ingredients, no additives🙌

      Ginger is also helpful with coughs and congestion. Tastier than the other old Russian cough/sore throat cure recommended by an old Russian editor during a project: a teaspoon of horseradish (in a simple sauce ok) several times a day.
      I use slices of crystallized ginger or those ginger candies by The Ginger People or Chimes, but the powdered drink mixes would be nice to have on hand.

    Okay, you convinced me! I rarely go to Trader Joes, but the Jicama Wrap and the Spicy Cashew Butter Dressing compelled me to take the trip! I made a vegetable wrap with the dressing for dinner tonight. Next, I will try it with pinto beans, veggies, avocado, and taco sauce. Maybe tonight!! I certainly have been eating way more plant-based since I've tuned into your channel. Keep up the good work!!

    I thought the jicama wraps were refreshing as a taco shell. The cashier said they can get slimy quickly after you open them. I ate them quickly so not sure about that. Will get them again for sure.

      I really like the sound of the jicama wraps. That way I could use rice in the stuffing, which is nice but kind of superfluous when the wrap is 99% carbs already.

    • @Lisatropolis
      @Lisatropolis 3 роки тому +5

      They definitely do get slimy. Eat them within a few days of opening the package 😊

    • @jwoolman5
      @jwoolman5 3 роки тому +1

      I would assume the jicama shells could easily be frozen. You could just put something between each wrap to keep them from fusing together. Maybe plastic or parchment paper? Never have tried parchment paper for that (haven't had great experience with wax paper for this), but I use plastic to separate vegan deli slices and cheese slices and bread slices/rolls/bun or bagel halves and such for freezing. The plastic can be reused.
      I do this especially for gluten free bread stuffs since they go bad quickly after the package is opened. But wheat breads have the same problem for me since I don't eat wheat all the time, so I do it for them also.
      You can lightly warm the frozen pieces in an oven (I use a little toaster/convection oven)or maybe a microwave or just wait a bit for them to thaw, whichever works best.

    Love the spicy cashew dressing--nice idea for a slaw dressing. I bought jicama wraps once and didn't figure out how to use them before they spoiled, but I'm thinking they would be a great way to reduce the calories in the mexican lasagna I love to make--just alternate jicama with corn tortillas.

    The last Trader Joe haul video, I made a list...I waited to visit a friend, who lives near one. Closest trader Joes, is over an hour away. Stinks, the further rural you get, the more scarce vegan products become. I think I will add a few of these products to my list.

      Normal ginger has 9 calories for 11g. I would assume a lot of that is water weight. So a packet must be at least 6-7 servings of ginger.

    The 100% ginger drink helps my husband with his sinuses. He says it tastes like "the devil's piss" (or what you can imagine it to taste like, lol) sorry to be so crass, lol, but I've been softening/mellowing out the spice with some honey & lemon for him. Much more palatable that way. I'd also blend it with a date & water. Trying out the jicama wraps tonight! I'm thinking (hoping!) it serves as a good summer lunch or dinner taco.
