I am pinching your idea of leaving the wing clear on mine. It will be such a ballache to paint and it looks mint!
I generally prefer a clear wing in most cases , glad you liked it :)
BEST CAR I'VE EVER SEEN , ABSOLUTELY 10 OUT OF 10 AND , NICE AND SMOOTH AND VERY FAST .👍
Very nice of you to say so Mark
Wow, this re-release reminds me of when I had a Cougar 2 works in the 1990’s.
I’m tempted to buy one of these..
Hi Tidy, they are cool buggy’s I know a few who race them in vintage races as well, they always go well round the track, light and fast
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Hi Andy, great to hear.
Looking forward to more video content 👍
very nicely done the color is superb, and the power is more than ample -Nice all round Andy
Hi Andrew thank you for the comment much appreciated, I think I got it about right :)
That Cougar Classic looks good and runs great, nice one mate! If I had the spare cash I'd be very tempted to get one and race it. Excellent video as always, keep 'em coming!!👍👍
Cheers Barry, the SCC is such a cool buggy looks good and handles nicely as well. Felt on that surface nicely balanced take care :)
Thats a sharp looking buggy Andy. The Cougar is a classic Schumacher racing rc 👌thank you for sharing and I am now subbed to your channel aswell 👍
Many thanks, thank you and appreciate it. The cougar is awesome and goes really well, I’ve yet to try it in an actual race , but I’ve seen enough of them to know they go well ;)
Wow Andy, that came out well, the colour is stunning. Good info about the issues you had with the build, too. But, boy, doesn't it run well?!?!?! So smooth and planted, I could tell you were enjoying it. The racing heritage shines through. Good to see the old skool radio being put to good use there! All the best, fella! 😎👌👍
Hiya Mark, not bad for a Juan can special
;) you got to use a good quality hold school radio set as well! I was really enjoying it. I am half tempted to run it in some vintage race heats , we shall see though. Thank you for watching :)
What a great looking buggy Andy! It seems to move real well!👍😊
It goes great and that’s with fairly mild Power in it , so I’m very pleased with, it’s a cool 2wd buggy, cheers for watching :)
That looks so good. I used to race one of these back in the day. This video made me want another. Top Job.
Hi Paul much appreciated, it’s good to hear when a vide or a car has that effect on someone , it’s a cool buggy indeed , thank you
I used to have a couple Schumacher's, Fireblade and The Cat 3000 I think it was called. This one has turned out lovely, like that colour. 👍🏼
Hi Damien. The colour seems to be a big hit im using it again soon as well. I used to have a fireblade as well and briefly a cat 2000 they are great race machines. Not my favourite but bloody good, cheers
Very nice Andy great to see it running 😀😀🤩🚴🏼♂️
Cheers Pete thank you much appreciated, thanks for watching
That's a good lookin whip great job Andy!! Teamwork makes good work!!
Cheers James , yes your right it does, I’d of struggled if it wasn’t for my wife helping
Great looking buggy and runs nice too.
Thank you very much Sir. Pretty pleased with it :)
GREAT BUILD MATE, LOVE THE COLOUR AS WELL. 🙂 I have just built one and had the same problems as you.
That’s interesting to know , same problem
As I had with the gearbox , lay shaft Etc? Thank you for watching appreciate it.
Hi And, sorry no it was the build I had the same problems with. Not going to run mine, its going on the shelf. 🙂
I only got it because I had a
Cougar and a Pro Cat back in the day.
Another great vid buddy. Cars look great and that colour looks even better outside.
Hi Paul thank you fella much appreciated. Thanks again. Your beautiful cougar shall now be sent back to you so fingers crossed back by end of the week. Ps I love that colour as well, using it again very soon ;)
Great video Andy , I'm glad I'm not the only one that found it challenging at times. I will run mine soon hopefully 🙂 X
Hey hey thank you. Yep it’s definitely not like building a Tamiya or kyosho ;) you’ll like it it’s a cool buggy! Thank you for watching xx
Cool review and thanks for sharing 😹👍
My pleasure Rene. :)
One thing you could throw onto these classic runners is a foam motor cover. Just to minimize dirt and debris in that area. Super cool car though. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the tip , I think I’d be more tempted if it was going through mud , water sand Etc, I’ve never needed a cover on my race cars though as we try and keep them nice and cool when racing. Cheers though
Stunner Andy - and I’m with you getting those c-clips in the bottom of those shock bodies is a kick in the beans - I built a set not too long ago and scratched them up a bit while fighting with those c-clips 😬
Cheers Wade :) the c-clips and rear wing mount were probably the worst thing on the kit to build. I used my special weapon, the wife ;) Hope your doing well keep up the cool videos
Nice build Andy and a great looking car. I'm loving my Cougar Classic, and it brings back fond memories of racing my Cougar back in the early 90's. As I was planning to fit a 12 or 14T brushed motor to mine I fitted the Pro Transmission and it is much sturdier than the standard as well as giving you a slipper clutch. Also just fitted the carbon fibre front shock tower which really improves the look of the front end. Cheers!!
Hello Nigel, cheers for watching. Good plan fitting the Pro trans if your running hotter motors and a slipper is always handy. I certainly like the idea of fitting the carbon tower , stronger and it looks better.
Looks Great Andy 😎 Can’t wait to run mine. It’s been so wet here in Aus for months now
Look forward to seeing yours Adam especially with your body shell. Hope the weather improves soon fella :) cheers
safe m8 mines white with a 13.5 juststock motor got 2 get a slipper clutch n ballrace the steering
Nice , will go well with the 13.5bl motor slipper will definitely help as well if your using it in a varying surfaces
That has me excited! I pre-ordered mine and hope they show up here soon! I did order it a bit late so it might not be in the first shipments but fingers crossed! I am really intrigued by these and don't have anything like in my collection. Thanks for pointing out the trouble areas, I will be on the lookout for them once I get my hands on one!
Great stuff, hope you get yours soon fella. On the whole I don’t think you will have a problem with, especially if you have good tools to build it with , the wing mounting , shock c clips and drive shafts are the main areas I found, everything else is sweet :)
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 I think I am up for it!! I just hope it isn't this time next year before it shows up!! I am looking forward to it as I don't have any 1/10th cars with an aluminum pan chassis so I like building new things!! Cheers!
i got 1 as well but its so silly 2 put 8mm crclips on the suspension
Andy - been watching your videos, great content. I’m having real trouble with a cougar build and thought you might be able to help. I’m trying to build the rear shocks and after spending hours I’m struggling to get all the o rings and washers into the shock base so that I can get at the groove for the cir clip. Everything is sitting too proud despite substantial brute force. It’s step 38 I’m struggling with. Getting the circlip on is a challenge I’m sure but I can’t even get to that stage as once I’ve dropped in the components I can’t see the grove to drop in the circlip. Did you have this issue?
Hi Lee I can honestly say both the shocks on the cougar and the Procat went together really well, with the cougar I got my wife to force the circlips in with tweezers when it came to the procat, same shocks a mate lent me some circlip pliers and they made the job Dead easy. All I can suggest without seeing your build us make sure all the washers and o rings are in the correct order and there’s no flash on any of the plastic parts. I hope that helps a little and you get yours sorted soon
Beautiful Andy and I love the colour! Are you just using like a Tamiya style 7.4 racing pack? I'm thinking of a 19T brushed motor and a TBL02 esc which I'm guessing will be fine!
Why Yokomo stickers btw
Keep well
Yep just using a 7.2v Tamiya style nimh battery. Check the esc motor limit on the tble02 not sure it will take a 19t but the kit transmission will be fine with that motor. It’s just some stickers I had left as some of my motors were made by yokomo . Take care
What are those Yokomo logos doing there? 🤣🤣
Because I did have a yokomo motor in my cougar but I swapped it out ;)
Yokomo🤮🤮🤮🤮
Thats running great... What pinion / spur gear combination are you using? Love the colour choice Andy
Hi Phillip. I can’t quite remember it’s not gear’d very high I think I’ve got a 20/21t pinion on and the stock spur gear. The colour is cobalt green ;)
Very nice build. Andy can you share what ESC, SERVO & Motor you are running for your Schumacher Cougar.
Thank you :) yep I’m running a JX servo, hobbywing 1060 quicrun ESC and yeah racing hackmoto 17x2 brushed motor.
Thank you very much Andy.
Great work Andy, I was looking forward to your running video of the Cougar, and wow it runs well on the 17*2 brushed motor! What gears are you using in the setup? I was looking at a 14 double wound or lower but the 17 double looks quite adequate there :)
Hello :) thanks for watching, glad you like it, my gearing is the stock spur gear from the kit maybe a 76t I can’t remember to be honest , could be higher and I’ve got a 20t pinion gear fitted I think , no higher than a 22t sorry I’m not exact I ca t quite remember , terrible memory
17x2 is not bad with the stock kit transmission, if you start to run mad motors you need the pro transmission
Hey Andy, great running video buddy and wonderful looking RC! Looks like it is a blast to drive and I can’t wait to get mine finished up. Are you going to race this one at all??
Hi mate , I’m
Glad your cougar is all sorted I look forward to seeing it round the orchard race way ;) it may get raced , I don’t know or it could end up as my lads racer at next years classic!
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 I would like to see that bud! It is not going to be out on the raceway officially until next season now but there might be a surprise appearance later in the year! I can’t wait to run it though… paint is drying as we type!!
Wonder how this runs in loose dirt over hard clay
Ps. My wife has to always help me on a build, it's just way it is 😊
Ha ha yep I can definitely relate to that , usually it’s turnbuckles , cutting body shells Etc for me
why does everyone find mounting these wings hard i used to run Schumacher back in 90s with my Cat ProCat and cougar but we used a small screwdriver to push O ring threw and then pull down with another
Hi Richard, I can’t speak for anybody else other than my self. I’m disabled and have problems with my arms and hands, so can need help with certain things. Other than that it was a nice build, apart from one or two tricky moments. I guess if you just build Tamiya’s a lot then the Schumacher’s are a bit of a different build. Cheers :)
I made a little hook out of stiff wire, pushed the hook up through the mounting hole, hooked onto the rubber loops and then pulled down through the holes. Easy. the hook is now in my pit box.
How many teeth pinion did you use?
Off the top of my head as I don’t have it now it was about 22t pinion gear
