In this video, I want to teach you to sell yourself in a job interview and project the right image when you are interviewing for jobs. I want to stress the importance of aligning your values with those of the company you are interviewing with. for every interview question they ask you, I want you to weave in your values and image into each answer, so employers quickly learn to know you, like you, and trust you.
If you have been interviewing for jobs, you need to know how to convince employers to hire you.

So, how do you do this? How do you project the right image to an employer when maybe you don't know what their image is? You have to know what their image is.
For example, understanding their company culture will help guide you in determining how you want to project yourself. Now, in bigger companies, it's a lot easier to find out what their culture is. With the small ones, it can be a little bit harder. You might have some work to do. Maybe you can try to talk to some people who work there, so you can kind of find out what it is. But for some of the bigger companies, you can find out what their culture is like.
Watch the video to see how I do this and then apply it to your situation.

Thank you Mr. Don this really helps me understand the culture all around me from your advice about any interview. I think it is a very great opportunity to expand and express yourself more to the employer as a job seeker, and I would agree more about the customer about your are not the customer. You as a job seeker are an employee filling to satisfy the costumer outside any company that invited you. The reason is not to sell your self, but it is for to how to sell your product of a company to satisfy customer needs. That is what is important.
Thank you Mr. Don for your time that really helped me a lot to be well prepared for any job interview.

More great advice thank you... I'm a Consultant so I'm a "corporate chameleon" in terms of fitting in with culture and management style. Most company websites have a 'corporate values' section, also their annual report will tell you something about a company's values. Glassdoor is also worth looking at but that's a bunch of individuals giving opinions, so sometimes they're all over the map.

I made it to a third interview and we were two final candidates. In the interview I met the manager for the second time - and the company CEO who was more cold and arrogant than the anyone I met thus far. He only asked me to walk through my resume. After 27 min. He just said "I heard enough" and the manager said "I´ll see you out" and the next day they had the recruitment consultant whom I met in the first two interviews call me with a rejection. He could not elaborate, as they didn´t give him the reason.
I think that if you meet the final decisionmaker/CEO who will actually pay you - you must go about it differently - maybe selling in a more aggressive way ?

Hello Don. Great video. Quick question, at the end of the interview if the panel asks that do you have any other interviews aligned or have you applied anywhere else..what should be the ideal answer (even if you have upcoming interviews). what is the reason behind asking this question?

Sometimes i feel that the employer do the interviews just because of the process in front of company, but they know in advance who will be hired due to networking and relationship. They want to hire someone who they know personally.
And how can we get over that, nothing.
I had done 4 interviews in the last month, always got the same msg by we choose to go over other candidate. Even i am confident i did well. So until when this dilema will last and what is the solution??!!!

Project the right image to an employer. You need to associate yourself with what their values are.
How do you do this? Find out what the culture is like, then align yourself with their values & culture. e.g. IBM (Value-driven), Apple (Innovation, product-driven), Amazon (Customer-focused, data-driven).
Don't pretend to be if you feel you don't fit. Use this as an opportunity to find who they are/ what they are about, then decide if that's you. If so, then go there, let your true colors shine and blossom in the interview.
That's maybe why they are not hiring you - you are not value's fit, or maybe you are not making that clear/ showing them how you are related. Interview is not only about answering the questions and having the experiences, but so much more than that.
Find out their mission statement (where they list their values, principles and what drives their company), align yourself to that. (If you are not, it's a sign not to waste your time) If you are a fundamental fit, then go there and be that person - combined your experiences you will probably get the job!

IBM is concerned more with "values" as opposed to product development? Companies do not sell their corporate culture to the public - I thought superior products to capture market share would be paramount. To cut to the chase - be prepared to kiss butt during you interview for your job. Skills and education do not matter. What other value should they be concerned about except whether I am proficient at my job? Start your own business - if you can.
