250k subscribers, congratulations, Jay! 300k soon!💙
Hey, have a listen to their best song - "Geno" about the singer Geno Washington
PLEEAASSSEE react to Wind Of Change by Scorpions
ua-cam.com/video/HWWwE20pHZk/v-deo.html This song by Modern Romance from 1982 is a great disco song it's called Best years of our lives
This Record when it came out knocked off Michael Jackson when he had that long unprecedented streak at number 1. I believe back in 1984 and the song was beat it.
Play this song at any event in the UK and the entire crowd will be singing along! Absolute party tune
And Australia! And of course, we have to make it filthy hahaha!
@@tammymcleod4504 yes we do 👍🏾🇦🇺😂❤️
And the slow bit near the end, standing in a circle with your friends, arms round one another’s shoulders, kicking your legs out in time with the music, while singing along 😄
An absolute banger of a tune
cheers from Newfoundland, Canada - ( we were British colony and joined Canada in 1949 ) can't have good time without beer, fiddles, and singing along!! and 'have a scuff' !!!
If you're British and around the age of 50, this song is one of the soundtracks of your childhood
Don’t have to be British. 50-something in US loved this song, too 😀
Don’t have to be 50! Am 34, have danced to this at so many weddings!
I'm just shy of 60 we had so many great choons back then
That’ll be me then 😃
Yep…..58 and British!!
You can imagine how this song filled a dance floor, and that genius slow build part at the end, everyone would go mental. They had a lot of great songs, not a lot of hits, but 'Jackie Wilson Said' and 'Geno' were big and also lot's of fun. Thanks for giving this another go.
These days Dance floors are filled with people taking selfies pretending to be dancing& having a good time when they're not ...😳🤔😂
i love that bit at the ned where it speeds up
I just made myself feel awful. It happened when I realized this song will be 40 years old next year. 40?!? Where did the time go??
I was eight when this song came out! Hoo boy... XD
Seems like only yesterday but it's a whole life time gone
If it's any consolation, time flies by at an even faster rate as you get older.
Next May,I enter my 8th decade....lol
To all calling them a one-hit wonder - in the USA maybe - but in their native UK they had loads of hits including another number 1 Geno which was one of the greatest songs of the 80s and has more of a Stax Soul sound. Their cover of Van Morrison's Jackie Wilson Said was also a big hit and well worth checking out (this is the one they performed on The Young One's episode Bomb)
I say they can consistently churn out great, great tunes. I saw them live at The Sage, Gateshead about 6 years ago as just 'Dexys' (no apostrophe S 😊) and they were truly woooonderful performers. Truly entertaining show. They had loads of new material as well, which is well worth a listen to too: She Got a Wiggle and Nowhere is Home being my faves from that show/album. Fab! 👌🏻
I don't recall any other songs by them. Hopefully they made enough to live cushdie.
This was the Number one song of the 80s!
Yes, my name is Ilene, so this song always makes me smile. There aren't too many songs with that name in it. Another reason I smile at this song is when it was new, I answered the phone to some of my guy friends singing this to me. Yeah, I'm smiling.
People still sing this at me and im Irene🤣
Reminds me of how my aunt Sheila got the song "Sheila" by Tommy Roe sang at her by her brothers when it was popular. Of course, being brothers, they were doing that to torment her. :P
As for Irene here (in the replies), for THAT name they should be singing "Goodnight, Irene" but perhaps they don't know that one. heh.
You know it is about her getting jizzed on lol.
This song is like "Walking on Sunshine". A happy song. There were a few one hit wonders out there with such bouncy tunes in the MTV era.
Not sure I'd characterize them as a one hit wonder, they've had some other minor hits prior to this. Anyone interested should check out their album Don't Stand Me Down; it may not have had huge commercial interest yet it is a great album.
Definitely not a one hit wonder
They had had another number one in the UK prior to this called Geno. Geno in my opinion is far far better
@@jameshoyle5918 ... They sure are in the US.
Eileen in the video is Máire Fahey, sister of Siobhan from Banarama. I love this! A lot of stamina is needed to dance to the whole song and keep up!
I didn't know that! You can see the resemblance.
In the 80s, life in Europe seemed so diverse. Such songs were one of the reasons for that. I still like to listen to "Come on Eileen" very much.
Remember a few years ago a Chinese boat race in our town to raise money for local charity. My husband was in a team with work mates everyone dressed like Dexeys, one person had to sit high on the boat drumming the beat for the rowers. The lady on their boat a local counsellor aged 70ish, did it. Her name was Eileen. This song was played. Brilliant
This is an unofficial British National Anthem.... guaranteed dancefloor hit
My mum is called Eileen. You can imagine how often she got this sung to her over the years! I even had it at my wedding just to annoy her! Haha 😂
😂😂
This song was played at my high school prom a few years back, everybody was dancing like mad and it was so amazing, fun and downright magical
I'm one of your lurker subscribers. I only pipe up with Bowie. I have to say that this reaction was a giant pleasure to watch. You made my heart so happy with your effervescent spirit. I thank you.
Jayvee, you rock! You're always such a happy, uplifting presence. You're always respectful of the music, and you really get it. The fact that you're jaw-droppingly handsome doesn't hurt, either 😄
I second that! I love this channel and Jayvee
And YOU are jaw-droppingly handsome too, David!
Yes, this is the original video😀 All over MTV every day in the 80s! My favorite 💥❤️😁
Such an iconic song here in the UK love it !
I was 15, we all wore dungarees and black plimsolls, I love this song. The Bluebells 'Young at Heart' has the same nostalgia feel.
Young at heart really does feel like a follow up song doesn’t it? 😁
Thanks for trying again! I couldn’t see it when I was trying to catch up on your old reactions.
Yes this is the official video from MTV. I started wearing overalls after this 😄
you could be in the middle of an argument but if this plays the dancing starts!
How can this song not lift your spirits!❤🎵
I loved this song when it first came out and I still love it today
Dexy's first big hit single in the UK was "Geno". It's a 60s soul style stomper and I think you'd love it, Jay.
Geno is my ringtone, I have loved that song since it came out
This song will always be the answer to a trivia question. It held the #1 Billboard spot on the US charts for the ONE week between Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and "Beat It".
I'm not a Dexy's fan and don't own any of their records but this for me is the greatest song ever written.
I remember it well when it came out…solid, infectious beat…fun tune and unusual video…the early days of MTV and VH-1
Great song. I've always loved it.
At one time, I had a co-worker who would greet me with this chorus every day.
😊✌💙
"You in that dress
Oh my thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty
Oh come on Eileen."
What a great lyric from a great band.
They also did a cover of 'Breaking down the walls of heartache'. An old Northern Soul song.
Such a fun song! I can't NOT get up and dance when I hear it!
This song takes me back
I swear this a true story, I watched another reactor do this one just last week and said to myself “I would love to see Jayvee do it.” I looked it up and was sad that you hadn’t. But hey, look at that, here it is today! Wishes do come true! 😂
Such a happy little song.......
So glad came of age in the 80's. This song was at all our dances.
Always n forever Love this song😊✌
I can't dance but from the very first bass note, I'd surely get up and move my ass and sing to this instant classic. Great band. "This is What She's Like" by Dexys is epic. I agreed 💯% with your comments and enjoyed your reaction, Jayvee 👏👏
The 'She said yes' anthem😆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The actress that played Eileen on the video is Maire Fahey, sister to Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama and Shakespear's Sister fame.
There is an unwritten law in the UK - this song *must* be played at weddings.
Fact 😂
The music changes the mood, positively, and you can see the smile of joy in you, greetings brother.
I was 8 years old when I started recording everything off the radio in late winter/early spring of 83. There were so many great songs and this track was a standout. This time is still the pinnacle for me, from Joe Jackson to Duran Duran to A Flock of Seagulls to Men at Work to Golden Earring to Moving Pictures to Styx to Stray Cats to Toto, and another Jackson that was pretty popular at this time.
Love Dexy’s this song is a classic I also love their song Geno and Jackie Wilson Says and Because of You great sound
You are bringing on the 80s memories…thank you!!!
This band made me love overalls and one of my happy song!
Omg how I loved this band! Best friend and trip trough Germany as she started her journey to University! Love them! #lottalove
Thanks for using the video on my channel. I am the only one who has the HD and HQ audio up of the official video. Thanks again for useing it.
The year I left school I was 16 still love it
Fantastic memories of my youth
One of the all time best feel good songs.
I love this song I am glad you enjoyed it. This is the only video I have ever seen for this song. It still fills the dance floors up.
I was raised in the French Quarter of New Orleans. For the first 40 years of my life many now famous musicians played on street corners in "The Quarter" just like this.
So true , even if you want to hate this song , your body keeps tapping
Yep, that’s the video 🙂
The pacing changes really make this song
I read a while back that this song was so popular at high school proms in Scotland....
I had a dream where me and all my fellow employees were singing this song. . Like we were in a musical.
I remember when this song came out. Such a very catchy tune!! 💃🕺💃🕺
Love it just a kid when this came out brings back memories😊
Love your reaction like always!
Yes this song is a complete rollercoaster of fun like we all had back in the day.
Best Song Ever!
From England... my fav 80s song
The epitome of a one-hit wonder and fantastic 80's song all-in-one! How are you doing Jay?
I am beyond blessed that I was a teenager in the 80s oh, it really was the best time to be one and discovering all kinds of music 🖤🖤🖤
They had a number 1 with Geno before this I think.
Of their hits, always preferred Geno to this one.
@@BunniMonster nothing like the one-hit-wonder worldwide this was
They are best known in the UK for their songs "Come On Eileen" and "Geno", both of which peaked at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, as well as six other top-20 singles. "Come On Eileen" also topped the US Billboard Hot 100, and with extensive airplay on MTV they are associated with the Second British Invasion.
@@lesleywarnock228 Not a one hit wonder.
I remember when this song was released in the early 80s, I was in college and I loved this song so much I would be singing it in my head as I was trying to fall asleep. I couldn't get enough of it but that's what great songs do to you. I still love it, and have it on my playlist. 👍
I LOVE how this song pumped you up, Jay! This song is just so much fun! ♥️ Big at Irish/English parties and weddings in NYC, especially if the bride or birthday girls name is Eileen♥️
I still love this song. I was so young when it came out and would wait by the radio to hit record when it would start
Still a classic. It’s impossible not to bounce along to this one.
Oh JV how we danced! I never tire of this track. We all had denim dungarees (overalls) and just loved that moment! Check out Dexy's Midnight Runners earlier track Geno, another banger from them. Very different sound though. Xx
My Oshkosh overalls were the color of painters pants. I was 19 when this song came out.
My other half bought me some overalls then. I was horrified as I thought you could see my ar5e from space.
@@lindylou7853 😄😄
Oh this brings me back to my youth! Love, love this song! 💕 🎵
The "Eileen" in the video is Máire Fahey, the sister of Siobhan Fahey from Bananarama.
Every Saturday night in Tynemouth this used to be the last tune of the night and the whole bar would go mental.... happy days
I once saw a T-shirt that said “I Came On Eileen” lol. I almost bought it lol.
I think you'd love Geno too, also a great crowd-pleaser. The album this was part of was also excellent, and surprisingly dark in places for all the great tunes
I was a teenager when this was out. We would go crazy on the dance floor to this!
This song was massive when I started secondary school in 1982 .😂😂
This is such a fun song and it's not the only hit they had in the UK. The dance floor was always packed when this came on and I was older then but so many youngsters were wearing denim overalls it made me giggle lol. I love how you really get into the song you are listening to and you facility and body movements echo your thoughts on the song. Now to take my next lot of meds (the last of the morning) so cheerio my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
!One of the best if not the BEST-one hit wonder of the 80's!!!!!! Yes Official video!
Yes, great dance song. You follow that with the YMCA song you have your workout for the week........💖😊💖
Congrats Jay on 250k
It's one of those songs that stick in your head 🤣do rah
It's a keeper.🎸☮️
Such a happy, sing-a-long song! Was in the 80s and will always be 👍🏻💜
Grew up with this song ❤❤❤
Johnnie Ray (seen at the beginning of the video), came After Frank Sinatra, and Before Elvis ..in the Early 1950s.. he had an unmistakable voice, very dramatic. My Sister had his records, and I grew up listening to them as a child. I love the memories of hearing him.
Great reaction. Watch Dexys. GENO.
A real staple on MTV and the radio like every ten minutes.
OMG I played this record over and over and over again.
I loved this song, was a huge hit in The Netherlands too
One of the best 1 hit wonders! I will love this song forever! It always makes me smile! A band at OZ Fest did a cover, I believe their name was Save Farris!!!
When this plays down the pub, every irish person knows its singing time, even old mate in the corner with his dram 🤣🤣🤣🤣 tooralooratooraloora heyyyyyyyy
Also shoutout to the ladies in the window looking down like what these crazy ass people doin now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
English band
from what I remember, this was number 1 for ages in the UK. What a great time to be a kid. Wish I could go back.
Love this song. When I first started watching Top Of The Pops, the Pop Charts countdown show in the UK, this was the #1 song.
They certainly had more hits in the UK - I'd recommend Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile) or Geno
This song and video were huge!!
They have a great song called 'Geno' which I think you'd like.
I remember them being on Top of the Pops with their hit Jackie Wilson and somebody put a large picture of the dart player Jockey Wilson in the background (a case of miss hearing lol) but the band played on, the smile on Kevin's face (lead singer) was so funny when he saw the picture, RIP Kevin
Great reaction Jay. Every time I hear this song it rolls around in my head for hours and hours it’s just that damn catchy.❤️✌️🌼
I loved this video.
Eileen is my mom's name, and think of her a lot. Fabulous song from Dexy's Midnight Runners!!! xx
Yes, the original video
