- The 2024 Southern California Bluefin Tuna season has been going full speed recently as several boats have hit the dock with limits of excellent grade BFT. Venture with me on a Full Day Offshore trip on the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, California on July 8th, 2024, as we hunt for the elusive Bluefin Tuna. The target is always Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail & Dorado while fishing offshore approximately 30 to 100 miles out to sea. Ya Man Danny recently acquired a passport, so be on the lookout for more trips soon. Big thanks to the San Diego crew for working hard to put us on & help us catch these beautiful fish.

Shout out to Danny,Amado,Captain Matt the best out there in San Diego on the San Diego never disappoints always on point
Yes, the best in the business IMO. I haven't fished on many other boats because this is the ultimate fishing challenge on this vessel. The crew is super skilled and they make you so much better after fishing with them 🤙🏽
I have fished with them for a couple of years now I am always ready to learn from them they really try to put you on fish
For sure brother. I love how Captain Matt & Amado were hooking more fish than anybody & handing them off to the nearest angler. Top notch right there 🤙🏼
Thanks for including the skipper's speech at the beginning, that's a big help. No other UA-camr does that.
I've been trying to figure out what the best tuna fishing setups are and hearing from the most experienced captains directly is great. Tackle shops often over-sell you on line-test and you end up with not enough line or the wrong outfit.
No problem @jake9705 🤙🏽 I try to give you (the viewer) the same experience I have on the boat from beginning to end.
When it comes to fishing for Bluefin Tuna it's almost a must to have multiple setups for different situations (size of fish, night fishing, etc) so it can get pricey to acquire the gear & go hunt for tuna. I wish you the best of luck 🙏🏽
Was great fishing with you! The San Diego's crew proving again that they're the best full day operation in the fleet.
Likewise Dennis. Sorry my battery died on you there but good one catching a YT on the 2nd kelp. It amazes me how good the San Diego boat & crew is, it's always the best time on there. Tight lines brotha! 🤙🏽
Shout out to Hunter, he is fantastic.
Absolutely 💯 Hunter doing big things! Thank you for the comment @scottstrayer901 🤙🏽
Seriously, this is a great video. Was able to pick up some tips as well as see some fish, thanks! The San Diego is an awesome boat! Great crew, and very fishy. Going out next week. Tight Lines
No problem & thank you for the compliment. I'm glad you were able to pick up some knowledge for your upcoming trip. Hopefully, the fish gods are with y'all, sending u with good vibes brotha 🤙🏽 BOOM 💥
Crowded n hectic but you all make it happen👍🎣👏
Nut to butt style fishing 😆 Gotta work together, party / cattle / head boat gets the job done 🐟 @@timmiller3133
My dude was learning as he go. True fisherman's right there. We all eat. I like the team man. This was a good first hand learning experience. I have 3 rods I also haven't got to use. But a lot of research. After Oct. I'm booking my trip.
If you're not learning, you're not earning. As technology advances we strive to become more proficient with our gear to give ourselves the best shot at success. I hope to see you out on the water someday putting those 3 rods to work. Good luck 🤙🏽
Looks like a helluva good time for a full day trip! Haven’t done one of those For a while but might need to soon. Great work amigo!
Always the best time, especially on the San Diego. The Bluefin bite is tough on a full day boat but if you time it just right you can get lucky. Tight lines my friend! 🤙🏽
What an awesome trip you had. Nothing better than dropping $900+ on a setup and watching it produce for you.
Timing was just perfect, early July. The reel was actually 900 & the rod & line was 450 😆 Time to put it to some more use soon 🤙🏽 @@tamalpias
Awesome video dude! Beautiful weather out on the water for this trip. You are so helpful and seem like a great dude. Came across this video on our big living room tv. It’s awesome on a huge screen. Happy fishing 👊
Thanks man, much appreciated on the compliment. I try to stay positive out there even when it's tough. As far as the video goes just trying to keep the quality very high, while providing entertainment value. Tight lines 🤙🏽
Nice size, still fun to catch , without making a career outta one fish👍Although those 100+ lbers. gotta be thrilling👏🎣😎
Fishing for Bluefin Tuna is extremely challenging but when you finally crack the code it can be quite rewarding. Any size will work just as long as the fish hits the deck in the end 🤙🏽
Bitter for you chef Dan always on San Diego
I can't believe how fishy that boat is. Always BIT 🐟
Missed your fish and chips theee
Hahaha we have Halibut F&C too 🐟
Killing them Chef miss you friend this Henry 😢😅 great fishing man
Thanks brotha. Can't wait to slay some Yellowtails with you again 🤙🏽
cool. People/deck hands. No matter how hectic it gets, keep the deck cleared of bait fish. You can take the 2 seconds to toss all bait fish around you into the water before someone/your kid slips on them, falls and crack their skulls open, fish aint worth that when you can prevent it. This happens a lot, seen it. it also saves bait and feeds the fish keeping them at the boat longer.
Good strategy there. I'll try and implement that one on the next trip & I'll give you a shout-out 🤙🏽 Good deal, thank you for your input @dojo1249
Damn. Subscribed just because you had Andre nickatina for the intro!!
“I’m a Pisces but I’d rather be a killa whale.”
Hellz yeah thank you for subscribing bro, welcome to the channel 🤙🏽 Just because you did that & commented I'll put another 'Dre Dog' song in the next video & give you a shout-out 🤙🏽
:3 LFG MANNN
😂 That's right 👍🏽 GO GO GO
How's Captain Leng and his crew tell them I said hi from saipan 670 bro
Doing good, he had an Overnight on the Barbie Doll recently I'll ask him how it went. How's Saipan bro?
YELLOW TAILS AND BLUE SAILS!!!WE GOT A 2 DAY TRIP OUTA FISHERMANS LANDING ON THE TRADITION LEAVING THIS SUNDAY AUG 25 AT 10;00 AM. WE GOT 6 BOOKED AND ONLY NEED 4 MORE TO SEND IT. THATS ONLY 10 ANGLERS ON A 25 SPOT TRIP. LETS GO
Wow, sounds like a solid trip to hop on always fun fishing a light load. I can't make this trip, but hopefully those spots fill up for y'all. 2 day sounds like you'll be heading West. I wish the fish luck cuz they might need it 🤙🏽
😎 Bro, I need to get on another trip with you The San Diego! I'm going on the 20th to the Islands.
I'm watching these video and it looks like too many ppl are on deck? At least 35-40 how many booked?
Yes, let's go fishing 🤙🏽 I don't have any trips planned so I'll hop on the right one. Do they have any spots open? 🤔
The boat was almost full that day 33 anglers, 1 spot open
While watching your video, I noticed that the anglers that cast their bait closet to the stern and walking up towards the bow got bit more.
They were boiling off the chum in the corner pretty good for most the stop. If you casted in the wind with a hot bait it was almost an instant bite. Stern cam when the action / head camera is slow 🤙🏽
I’ve been on that boat and it’s probably , no it Is the best day boat on the West Coast hands down! But man seeing all the people on there is a great reminder to pay the money for at least a limited load overnight 😂 Too many “googans” brah
True. It's always a challenge fishing on a 'cattle' boat so when I do, I prefer it to be the San Diego. Overnight trips are my favorite, I just haven't been able to hop on the right one this year. Always after the BFT, so a longer trip is in the scope 🤙🏽
Saw some pretty shotty gaffing go n on. 😢
Yeah the Yellowtail were a bit sqwirrly & the Bluefin that bit the jig were angy after being just hooked. If you keep your fish below the surface & rod under the armpit, it's way easier to gaff 🤙🏽
Gotta private charter on Thursday! When was this trip? Fish counts have been shitty full day offshore… hoping they get with it!
This trip was early July the 8th. The Bluefin Tuna were close to the beach & biting pretty decent for a little while. Right now they're starting to see some Yellowfin Tuna & Kelp Dorados. Hopefully you guys run into some nice schools out there, tight lines 👍🏽
@@SlaycationFishing I figured… right on. Thanks for the response! Bitchin video.
I appreciate the compliment brotha thank you for tuning in & I wanna send you off with some good vibes Thursday, hopefully the Bluefin make an appearance for you 🐟@@ap4802
What was the line setup for the tellowtail? Like a small flouro leader or like 10’?
That would depend on your knot connection. If you can tie a knot that fits through the guides well, you can go with a longer leader. A rod length of fluoro leader with 40# Seaguar Gold got my bite 🤙🏽
Typically 3-4 ft of floro all it takes
How many times does the poor deckhand have to say "change your bait!"
As many times as it takes to get bit. When they're boiling by the boat like that it almost an instant bite if you have the right bait. If your bait's not swimming, you're not winning, change it 🤙🏽
A lot of of “newbies” or rookies on this boat so there’s A lot the deckhand needs to repeat! It’s a Great boat though and really a great place to learn
How much was the trip bro
$240 trip fee + $22 Mexican Fishing License. Food & beverages, fish cleaning + tip for crew + cook. All in about $400 🤙🏽
Holy Christ boils Everywhere !!! Throw a tady or a zakana or …. Omg. I know the term “dinner on a spinner “ is cool sounding but get you a Lexa or sumn easy to cast that’s conventional! Probably love it waaay more and I feel works better once u learn to cast it, if u have trouble casting one
Boil Central 🔥 It's true, I've been struggling on spinning gear for while now BUT, I did aquire a Penn Fathom II 25 size 2 speed recently so it's time to get with the program. Just purchased my first Tady jigs recently & looking forward to learning how to get em bit 🤙🏽 Thanks for checking in @Nobodybaby78
@@SlaycationFishing hell yeah bro that’s a good reel! Versatile
Bought it for 40# flyline setup but can drop it down to 30 if needed. Saw several people slay BFT on the same reel during this trip 🤙🏽
Is the name of that boat that was way too close actually named Poacher? What a jerk.
😂 Right? I guess if the boat was named Poacher, they'd be living up to the name. Always a few of em hanging off the San Diego out there 🤙🏼
