This is so cool, thank you for uploading. I had seen a picture of the Savage Land boss creature and was wondering why that wasn't in the final game. Probably a little too close to a xenomorph. I always say that the Giger alien is the most influential motif in video game history. It's hard to find a game without some kind of xenomorph looking creature. Speaking of which, this version of the Phalanx/Brood Queen looks terrifyingly great! She's much scarier with the dark purple hue and less armored skeletal look. She has a more wasp-like design.

13:09 - I don´t remember this sound effect in the released game, but I am sure is the same sound effect from Chakan, from the same studio wich made X-Men 2
Supposedly these were in the Sega Channel version. Funny i had the Sega Channel and i dont remember any of these stages.
These are levels from early prototypes, they were removed for some reason.
By the way, if you once had the Sega Channel. Several exclusives were released on it:
1. Flintstones(Osean)
2. Environmental Detective
3. Garfield: Lost Levels
4. The Chessmaster
These games are now lost forever, due to the fact that they did not have a physical release on cartridges.
@@VideoGameShadows A prototype of the Flintstones game was dumped but sadly there is no sound. All the levels are there just no sound.
@@Jamesamong007Only the early prototype was dumped (the one without music and sounds, and with only two levels). The full version of the game that was released on the Sega Channel has not yet been found.

@@VideoGameShadows I guess we got really lucky that Mr. Nutz ended up getting a PAL release on cartridge to be eventually shared with the world. In the USA that was a Sega Channel exclusive also by Ocean. I'm also guessing the Sega Channel version of The Chessmaster probably would have been nearly identical to the SNES version of the game apart from sound and color differences.

Surprisingly, almost all levels look better than their final versions. They are simply more alive and have more detail. And yes, it's a shame that Mister Sinister was cut.

Very cool. Has anyone explored modding this game. Lots of people mod the nhl games but I have never seen an effort to add characters or levels.

since this one featured Mr. Sinister shouldn't this be called X-Men 2 - The Sinister Virus.. instead "Clone Wars"
He's known for his genetic manipulations and has created clones, so the name still tracks. But you may be referencing the unreleased X-Women game. 😀
Why the characters more similar to the first prequel? The music is from second ofc
The slower walk cycles seem very similar to Chakan the Forever Man. Same lumbering speed
So I wasn't paranoid when I heard and saw similarities between those games. Like they used the same engine but different IPs. It's probably a well-known fact, but hell if I'll research it. Lol

Smells a little fake. Several sprites in the second level appear to be taken and edited from X-Men: Official Game from GBA.
