unsung heroes I had my car get sideswiped years ago and luckily there were a few people that were on their porch near where my car was parked, and they saw the name of the company and even the # on the back side of the van. They called the cops for me and everything and the police were the ones who reached out to me. It's almost worse if it's an old beater. You know the fix will be cheaper, the person driving an old Camry is far less likely to have cash to spare, and is probably dependent on it as their only car. (Not that it's ever okay, of course. Just even more infuriating.)
A few years ago I had someone hit the side mirror and smash up that plastic bit behind it. Other than that it was just fine. No note, nothing. Was absolutely fuming for a week straight. Couldn't imagine not losing my shit if that happened to me.
I had a 1998 Toyota Corolla once, obviously not one of the famous models. It was stock, but I took care of it. It was clean. It also got hit while it was parked. It didn't cost much to have it repaired. But let me tell you, I felt defeated for days.
i hit a truck with a boat trailer and let a note the owner of the truck was on a 3 day fishing trip and was amazed that someone left a note it called honeslty and having to liv with yourself
Pissed off Marty and Moog are probably a wicked intimidating pair. Used to seeing all the laughs and hard work. Appreciate you guys sharing another side with us.
@@canthelpit8226 The option if you're not going personally is that it is Negligent Driving, which means point loss, go to court and get pummeled by a judge- so you can follow that up with the police locally and they will be able to put things together. However, that may be months before anything happens and it might also mean also following up with insurance if you have their details separately- which turns into just a massive pain in the arse. Essentially, it can be followed up at a criminal level and prosecuted for that. But financially its kind of hard to get cash out of people- I actually think M&M got a good deal it was sorted out on the day and the driver probably got cornholed and hopefully sacked.
Not sure if it’s editing, the bonding over the crash or anything else but this episode has a feel of content from the days when you first got MCM garage space. It has chemistry, good banter and levels of disrespect that brought me to your channel in the first place. I BLOODY LOVE IT MATE!
I too miss the MCM humour, the last few videos have felt a little too "UA-cam" to me for lack of a better word, not to say i didnt enjoy them because i did but i love the old school, pure mcm disrespected vibes and the hilarious s3x skits that they make.
Being kind to someone who broke your car that took so much hard work and to shake hands, I would've been quaking in my boots if I were him. Glad u got it resolved ❤
What an absolute scumbag! didn't have a pen my arse! Props to the witnesses for leaving details, the manager for sorting it quick-as, and you too for not knocking the guy out on-site
Exactly. Given it happened in a car park I am guessing the truck was delivering something. Show me one delivery driver who does not always have like 3 pens on them all the times.
@@IAmTheStiv Not necessarily. Marty and Moog were there to grab lunch. Perhaps the truck driver was there for the same reason. He didn't necessarily have a pen or paper on him, nor was he necessarily a courier. However, you know who _did_ have a pen and paper for him to write a note? The staff at the diner. How hard would it have been to pop in, write a note, and leave it under the windshield before driving off?
So glad that two good people left notes so that you could confront the offender. The actions of people are unbelievable, and sadly they don't change their behaviour until something like this happens.
8 year autobody tech here, this generation of camrys are such a pleasure to work on. I reckon keep the decal and writing from the wreckers. it adds to the look
Well done fellas. I can tell yall were super pissed and Marty looked like he was ready to throw hands! You guys are an exemplary example in the car community! Cheers to you!
People that do hit and run are punished by the law harsh as they do it again if something happens 😮 This time the witnesses helped the driver more than the casualty which is wrong Complete mishandling of mcm for video content and unprofessional nothing more
@@kitecattestecke2303 they resolved their situation and were happy that it was resolved in that way without having to go through the whole police interaction and paperwork shenanigans. In a way i also think that the hit and run driver learned from that interaction Moog showed that he was really upset but in the end he told the driver that everyone does mistakes therefore maybe next time the driver makes a mistake he wont try to run but actually try to resolve the mistake on the spot as he now knows that yes people will be upset but they know that mistakes can happen.
Like the day I almost went nuclear at the pharmacy. I went in, got the meds and walked out to my truck. That's when I notice they gave me SOMEONE ELSES MEDICINE. So I go in and tell them I need to return this and they say "No, sorry. You left the store so, we can take it back." I said "excuse me?!? I was just here! I went to the parking lot." So, the lady says "when were you here? Yesterday?" I said "NO! I WAS STANDING RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF YOU 90 F-ING SECONDS AGO! ARE YOU BLIND?!" And that's about the time I walked out and let my sister handle it because I was about to flip the F out on those people. I was like "YOU, GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSES PILLD. YOU BETTER TAKE EM BACK. 🤬" You wanna talk about mad!
I LOVE that you made him ACCOUNTABLE for his actions, too many people are nonchalant in this day and age, as Moog said we're all living in the same community, lesson is don't do dog acts kids.
@@reddpill yes, they DID teach him a lesson. The lesson being that there are always good people out there, that will stand up for the victim and help them out. So the perpetrator has come to realise that people take notice of such things and will intervene so that the innocent party doesn’t bear the consequences of someone else’s bad behaviour.
@@reddpill He admited fault, his employer covered repairs which may or may not come back to the offender - it was a company car after all. Outside of court that is restitution by the book! Have a white pill :)
"can you feel me pushing it in?", "we gonna have to change this strap on here, it's not big enough" 🤣🤣🤣, was just listening to the vid while doing some work, had to stop my work to see what exactly was going on! from 17:05 to 18:01 absolutely hilarious 😂 😂
I just wanna say that you handled that in an exemplary fashion. I would have lost it, gotten all pissy, and everyone would have just ended up getting mad. But, instead, you called them out but kept your cool, all while taking it for what it was instead of allowing it to ruin your whole outlook on life. I'm gonna try and be more like you. Thanks Moog. Finally - i vote keep all the junkyard stickers and marks. Just adds to the sleeper look.
They did handle it in good fashion, and it was completely classy not to mention the business in question in any negative fashion once the situation had been resolved to their satisfaction. Not to entirely downplay their level of composure, but it's probably a little easier to do so when, unlike the majority of people this might happen to, the car in question is one of many that you own and not the primary form of transport that you're going to be relying on to get to work in the morning or pick the kids up from school that afternoon. Additionally when you're arguably well-connected with auto parts recyclers in your area and have a workshop at your disposal with all the tools and equipment needed to affect a timely repair job it eases the pain also. Growing up as the son of a motor mechanic, I always benefited from a significantly reduced cost and turnaround on repair times compared to my peers, and tended to stress less as a result when faced with issues. It would be a lot harder to shrug off if the reason you were driving an older camry in the first place was that it was the best and most reliable transport that you could afford and you had little to no mechanical expertise, no tools to speak of and had to wait two weeks without use of your transport to pay someone significant money that you don't have (or you may be driving a newer, flasher car to start with) to repair it for you. Being able to use it as content for your successful youtube channel and therefore monetise it in a way where the event itself generates income may also be somewhat of a softening to the blow. Like I say, they handled it superbly, but it's probably unfair to imagine the average joe or joans response unfavourably by comparison given that the boys are what most of us might consider 'automotively privileged'.
yeah good point, I would have asked for repairs and compensation, and then if they didn't comply might have considered coming back a couple weeks later at night and just chucked a brick or two at their truck@@roberttaylor6520
I know it's "just a Camry" but for a lot of people this could be a working, reliable car that could change their life. I'm super glad you were able to get it fixed, and I think you should get it painted and cleaned up nice!
Had the exact opposite experience. Found a note on the windshield, and then had to look for the damage, which was a tiny scratch on the bottom of the rear bumper. Called the number, expressed my gratitude for honesty, and left it at that.
Marty and Moog are real pillars in our community. They always remain professional, would've been easy to lose your temper in a situation like this but they remained composed. Respect.
These are some top blokes, They were respectful (As much as you can be during a hit and run) They didn't dog out the business and drag it through the mud. Brilliant job guys, Keep up the great work.
I like this style of filming , at first very TV like/documentary and then the repair part feels very personal like as if I was there hanging out and helping . ❤
You guys are in top form on this one... The headlight restoring... The passenger side headlight installation at 16:55... Moog moving random tools between drawers as Marty is trying to discuss tool organization...
Hi guys, I usually don't comment on stuff, but I really do hope you paint and tidy the camry up. I think it's been an awesome build and would love to see more of it!
I bought a box of grade 10, rolled thread, 5/16 bolts. I took them home, and tried to install them. And they wouldn’t go in. Got out the pitch gauge, and it showed they had the correct thread count. Tried again and they still didn’t work. My dad came out and looked at one of them, and said, “They don’t have any pitch.” I told him that I had checked them and they had the right pitch. He replied, “They have the right thread count, but it just goes around, no helix.”, and demonstrated the fact by putting a thumb nail in a thread and rotating the bolt several times, with out his thumb going anywhere. I had them in the shop years later, and my roommate, who was a line mechanic at a dealership, tried to use one. And I explained that they look right but won’t go in, because they don’t really have any pitch. He took them to work, and randomly dropped the, in other mechanics miscellaneous bolts collections.
People who playfully try to pull that shit on me shouldn't be too surprised that I respond with a playful wrench to the face. A workshop is not a playground.
This is a good example of the amount of work that's required for a simple carpark accident. When a panel shop want $2000 for what looks like an easy fix, just remember the time and effort to correct the panel gaps etc. Good on you guys for chasing the driver at fault up on this. It's 100% unacceptable and I'm sure he'll never be forgotten as the guy who hit n ran from the MCMs Camry.
All car guys know that you love the cars you’ve worked on more than the ones you’ve bought. No matter how shit it is, or inexpensive the parts were. So I understand the look Marty had on his face on the way there. Glad it was sorted out properly in the end.
You taught a good lesson in this not to let emotions get the best of you and handle things level headed even though at the time the blood pressure was high. The most important things is everyone is ok and the person was found due to helpful bystanders. All hope is not lost.
I second this. Losing your shit in situations such as this (infuriating as it is) will only make it worse. This was handled calmly and the best outcome under the circumstances was reached. Well done gents.
@@alaindelon5398Crime rates in Australia have been steadily declining since the 90s so I’m not sure why you would think they are going up. As per the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there was 4% drop in overall Crime in 20-21 (most recent stats I could find). Are you suggesting that the lads should have just punched on with the truckie? Because that’s also a criminal act.
it was a parked car, "everyone is ok" isn't a valid upside to this situation lol. The hit and runner is a douchebag and deserves to pay for all of this out of pocket, end of story.
You also have to take into account that Marty and Moog are pretty well off and they have the tools and knowhow to fix the damage. If this was a first car daily driver I think the outcome may have been different. Emotions would possibly have been higher and the cost to the courier company would have been a lot higher because this would have gone to an auto shop, they got off lightly, in my opinion.
I absolutely loved my Camry. When I had to get rid of it, it had over 400,000 miles on it. I'd like to see it get fixed.🙏 Any collision repair shop should have no problem matching the original "Champagne" color.😀 Much love and blessings to all ❤️ Stay safe everyone 🤘😎

This is the type of stuff I want to see on YT. I'm not a fan of channels that start off this way but always succumb to the supercar/exotic car route that most of your viewers could never afford. Sure it's cool but out of our reach. Stuff like this is within reach and fully within my capabilities if I chose to. The BR powered Z car is what made me subscribe btw because that project is basically my dream car build, the car I would keep for life.

Props to the witnesses who let our mad lads track down the driver! I think you two did the right thing pulling up with all the turbo accessories exposed.
I was once hit by a company van on a roundabout my first week of driving with a license at 17. Guy refused to pull over and drove off. Luckily I pulled into a friendly gentlemans drive who advised me on the next steps and helped calm me down. Company's insurance covered repair costs and had the whole incident on dashcam thankfully :)
It's great that you guys were able to get it resolved thanks to the good people who left notes. Unfortunately I got rear-ended in a hit and run earlier this year and the police didn't even do anything about it. I know my circumstance is common and I wish we had more good people out there willing to help, especially in law enforcement. Much love
Let it sleep part of its history now. Boys nice job and glad you got it sorted. Loved watching from start to finish keep it going. Across the pond in Scotland 👍👋❤️🏴
Good for you for chasing them down and good for tnose people who left notes. It's a dog act and we all know they're only sorry cos someone saw what they did. Having said all that, this video is the very definition of making lemonade out of lemons. Well done boys, this is why we love you.
Double edged sword though. The company would rather payout if asked than fall behind on deliveries due to demand. If your delivery was delayed due to a driver waiting to do the right thing you'd probably not have the same opinion at the time.
Thats literally what insurance is for and why companies operating motor vehicles need to have it. Its all down to the actual driver trying to get away with it.
*some truck drivers. Don’t taint them all with an over generalised comment! Surely a business card could be left for the vehicle owner to call. The driver updates the office and everything goes from there.
Now for the hard decision: do you colour match to the bumper that got ripped off, or do you match to one of the other colours elsewhere on the car? ;) Call the guy you bought the car from - he might still have a few rattle cans knocking about.
It's an old former food delivery Camry. I'm pretty sure it's illegal for a replacement bumper to match anything on the rest of the car. Ideally completely unpainted plastic! Also, don't you dare consider replacing that wheel cover either. It must remain missing!
Your attitude towards the siutation was great, i would have been screaming at that guy, you guys kept your cool and you got it sorted out, props to you guys
@@ExplizitDuester I disagree, for them to get away with it would have meant never having to pay, I would have been thrilled to have the company that hit my Golf repair their damages.
Kudos to the people who filmed and left notes. I can only hope that if something like that ever happens to me I'd receive the same kindness. Thankfully it was one of the nuggetiest cars you guys have, but doesn't matter if it's a Lambo or a Lupo it's a dog act to leave without at least leaving a note. Even if i was in a big rush with work, I'd at the very least ask someone nearby for a pen and paper to leave my details before leaving
This whole 3 minutes was of extreme puns 😂 “if I grab this massive big round one and just yank it like that” then he comes in to say “you keep doing that and I’m gonna nut on top of it” LIKE FAM

little tip when fitting panels, leave the bolts loose until fit all up so can move it around to get the gaps rite. then tighten. Its all about the gap ;)
I can appreciate the accidentally inspired by tesla panel gap hood mod. This sucks, but glad you guys are taking care of things. I'll be interested to see where things go next with this. If you go sleeper, please at the very least polish the headlights.
Not a pleasant event to say the least to return to a smashed up car you’ve invested so much time and energy in. Glad to see the outcome was ok. You guys create awesome content and provide inspiration to work on our personal rides. Keep up the great work. Look forward to enjoying more of your fantastic posts and seeing what other projects you’ll be working on. Cheers fellas. Peter.
I don’t know if there is a mandatory insurance for cars in Australia, but even here (Germany) people do this, while they would not even have to pay the repairs out of their own pockets.
They were going hard the whole time... you expect it at any moment... but you don't realize they just keep going and going... they don't stop... half the reason why I watch... their friendship is amazing... wish I had a mate like that... either of them... hell... both of them... at the same time... 😂😂😂
Yep, a Menzies delivery van did the exact same to my mk1 mx5 only 3 weeks after a full respray, no note left, and inconclusive proof from the coop (shop) camera as that it was at 5am and dark still. The blue paint wedged between the bumper and wing is enough for me to know!. Scum bags.
SLEEP Also nice one for keeping your cool about the accident, and for seeking to forgive the dude, not just carry the grievance game on further. Something we could all use a good example of under these circumstances, and a testament to your good ethos
One of the worst days of my life was watching my mint JZA70 R Supra have a truck reverse straight into it across the road in 2011. I had to chase the truck on foot down the road to get them to pull over. Took 7 months to get replacement parts from Japan to get it fixed and I could never leave it parked anywhere again and it just made me so paranoid that I eventually sold the car which is one of my biggest regrets... Also did I hear lets get in Martys Supra? 👀
Bad luck, glad you caught up with the SOB - well done the bystanders who helped out and the manager who didn't argue. I'd say make the car look decent but nothing crazy... Imagine a Camry that's been the pride and joy of a grey guy in his mid 70's who's owned it since new - well looked-after but with a lot of miles on it would be the best 'sleeper' look for this vehicle. An OTT bunch of mods will likely look terrible, while a Camry 'rat rod' would only look like something stolen from a scrapper.
This really sucks, I'm currently in the throes with an insurance adjuster that's screwing me at every turn with my classic car and refusing to pay out. Even though your blood is boiling, once it all settles, you sit there and think about how part of the reason you're so upset is because you want stability and for your car to just be the way you left it whether for a minute, hour, or month. At least, that's how I felt. And it's depressing how that can just get taken away from you in an instant - and how callous/selfish some people are to not help you reinstate that kind of stability when they're at fault.
Sorry to see that, awesome you found the guy. The same thing happened to my gt86 while parked at home; windscreen, bonnet, front bumper and brackets were broken and no one left a note… I hate people sometimes.
My dad is always saying to have a friend with you who is more emotionally detached in these kind of situations. Because with your property, you will always take things more personally
Why wouldnt you call the police and file a complaint? Let them deal with this knucklehead who's parents clearly skipped the lessons about being responsible for your actions......
Definitely fix it and maybe try and hunt down the rest of the sportivo parts or grande parts to make it luxurious and fast! Woodgrain interior parts look mint on these :)
These guys are ACTUALLY good people, these people, these leaders show what you should actually do in situations like this, yes being mad is normal, but also understanding that it’s property and not your own life so it’s not THAT big of a deal

i hit a truck with a boat trailer and let a note the owner of the truck was on a 3 day fishing trip and was amazed that someone left a note it called honeslty and having to liv with yourself
Pissed off Marty and Moog are probably a wicked intimidating pair. Used to seeing all the laughs and hard work. Appreciate you guys sharing another side with us.
You don't anger the friendly guys because they fck you up if it comes down to it. ie still waters be deep
They're nice guys anyway, but 2 guys that stand over 190cm, I think, can be intimidating, bit more than my 174cm.😊

The real deal...
It's half disrespected nose content, so it's almost unedited and raw.
I love that they confronted him at work, so now his boss and all his colleagues know exactly how much of a scumbag he is.
I hope the courier company tore the driver a new one and maybe made him pay them back for some of the costs.
Sleep

To be fair, the look on Marty's face when he was driving, said it all. Good job Moog was there, because i reckon Marty would've gone nuclear.

Marty looks genuinely unhappy, honestly I would have thought moog to have more of a temper, not the other way around.

I went to the parking lot."
So, the lady says "when were you here? Yesterday?" I said "NO! I WAS STANDING RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF YOU 90 F-ING SECONDS AGO! ARE YOU BLIND?!"
And that's about the time I walked out and let my sister handle it because I was about to flip the F out on those people. I was like "YOU, GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSES PILLD. YOU BETTER TAKE EM BACK. 🤬"

I would’ve just called the cops on him.
yeah good point, I would have asked for repairs and compensation, and then if they didn't comply might have considered coming back a couple weeks later at night and just chucked a brick or two at their truck@@roberttaylor6520

I'd love a fully respected build giving it like super professional mods.
This is a testament to these guys' character and their nature at their very core. Handled the entire situation very well imho.
Had the exact opposite experience.
Found a note on the windshield, and then had to look for the damage, which was a tiny scratch on the bottom of the rear bumper.
Called the number, expressed my gratitude for honesty, and left it at that.
Man, this is awesome how you guys handled this. I literally just watched the video on the build. Class act shaking hands and working through it.
Paint it with racing flames!
Marty and Moog are real pillars in our community. They always remain professional, would've been easy to lose your temper in a situation like this but they remained composed.
Respect.
I don’t understand why they didn’t just call the cops.

Moog messing up Marty's toolbox arrangement is totally something my buddies would do to me! Love it
I bought a box of grade 10, rolled thread, 5/16 bolts.

You taught a good lesson in this not to let emotions get the best of you and handle things level headed even though at the time the blood pressure was high. The most important things is everyone is ok and the person was found due to helpful bystanders. All hope is not lost.

it was a parked car, "everyone is ok" isn't a valid upside to this situation lol. The hit and runner is a douchebag and deserves to pay for all of this out of pocket, end of story.
You also have to take into account that Marty and Moog are pretty well off and they have the tools and knowhow to fix the damage. If this was a first car daily driver I think the outcome may have been different. The worst part is that the company expects this to keep happening and just pays it out.
Goes to show the quality of truck drivers out there today.
Double edged sword though. The company would rather payout if asked than fall behind on deliveries due to demand. If your delivery was delayed due to a driver waiting to do the right thing you'd probably not have the same opinion at the time.
If you have a company that needs drivers accidents will happen. You deal with it properly.
Thats literally what insurance is for and why companies operating motor vehicles need to have it. Its all down to the actual driver trying to get away with it.
Fleet drivers, this happens all the time mate.
*some truck drivers. Don’t taint them all with an over generalised comment!
Surely a business card could be left for the vehicle owner to call. The driver updates the office and everything goes from there.
Now for the hard decision: do you colour match to the bumper that got ripped off, or do you match to one of the other colours elsewhere on the car? ;)
Call the guy you bought the car from - he might still have a few rattle cans knocking about.
It's an old former food delivery Camry. I'm pretty sure it's illegal for a replacement bumper to match anything on the rest of the car. Ideally completely unpainted plastic! Also, don't you dare consider replacing that wheel cover either. It must remain missing!

I had to chase the truck on foot down the road to get them to pull over.
I think you guys handled the situation in the best way possible, well spoken and firm yet calm. This was a funny episode during the rebuilding 😅
