I am absolutely disgusted by all this from AJ and BB. Heartbroken for Lisa and family. There is absolutely nothing AJ or BB could say that would change my mind. Even if the control issue like he says was the reason, there was a much better way to handle this. Talk to Lisa and if not satisfied then cancel all the fundraising, your Tiktok account featuring Frannie and Lisa, which has millions of viewers and a great source of income and support, and walk away like a decent human being without benefiting in any form and shape. When you let Lisa get involved and received such a huge outpouring of support from the Frannie followers, you put yourself in the position of sharing a lot of personal info. The videos at the dentist, and progress updates, etc. You can say she was "controlling " but the support she generated for you doesn't happen without a lot of effort and constant communication out to the followers to continue the flow of support, because THEY feel involved in your progress. It's a very public process, as anyone knows who's been through any major ongoing fundraising project knows. So yes, you sacrifice some privacy, and since she's using HER following to assist YOU, she's going to be the one making the decisions and organizing things. She did it to help you. People donated because it was obvious she was trying to help you. You accepted that help. It's too late to try to suggest that you feeling overwhelmed about it all is somehow her fault or that she did something wrong. And lastly, you should have just spoken up about it sooner if you didn't want to deal with the public aspects of this. You are not handling it the right way. Do the right thing and thank her, and her followers for everything. And if you don't want to be in more videos, then don't. But don't blame Lisa.
You should reimburse all the money that was given to you by her followers or donate it to a rescue in Frannies name. I don’t feel you felt too pushed and controlled when you agreed to take money that she raised for you. It’s a sad situation either way.

After reading all the comments, it's clear that James should have voiced his concerns in an honest private discussion with Lisa early on - which likely would have resolved much of what had been upsetting James - but that didn't happen. While we don't know all the facts, it does look like Bonfire Banter has turned on Lisa given James' [deeply edited] sponsored video with the promise of 'more onion layers to peel,' & using words like 'saga,' 'stay tuned' & 'next episode' to wave the flames. Who of us had even heard of Bonfire Banter before Lisa introduced them to us? They certainly benefited from the #Frannienation calendar, charity events, exposure, etc. And To James: Just a couple points you might consider in all this: If you felt uncomfortable with the direction things were going before, please slow down and realize those same demands of your time, etc., are awaiting you but with much greater intensity if Bonfire Banter (or any other mgmt. team) is driving the bus. That's what they do if they want to stay in the game. Is this something you really want and are willing to make the sacrifices to sustain? Also, it's odd that a new startup would publicly display such disloyalty on social media of Lisa's efforts to help grow & build their business, don't you think? I'm not bashing AJ but I've always wondered: This 40/41 yr old man works a good job. How is it that he doesn't have $$ to repair his car or get a new one? Why hasn't he done the dental work? You know he has insurance through Amazon. Maybe I've missed the posts that explain this, but I think these are valid questions. Playing devils advocate most dental plans have a yearly maximum of up to $2500. That would cover maybe 2 crowns. And that's if the insurance is 100% coverage. Usually it's 80/20% which 20% of 2500 is still $500 and a lot of people don't have that sitting around. It could go to other things. It would take years to get that kinda work done. Amazon doesn't pay as great as you'd think.
He wasn't forced to want a new car. He even set up a venmo and an Amazon wishlist to take more advantage of people. He is a typical user!! Poor man found a way to scam people out of money.

My BF had the same procedure (full mouth implants) and James looks/sounds the same as he does. You have to pretty much learn how to speak all over again because of the big change in your dental situation.

So how did Lisa find out James was so bad off, because of his teeth or car? My teeth were real bad at one point in my life and I never told anyone. I didn't have a car for two years and didn't complain to anyone. I had a lot of teeth pulled (one at a time when they were "hot") and my co-workers gave me rides to work when they found out I was taking the bus. I paid it forward when I did buy a car. I think James is/was being pulled into many different directions, like becoming “famous” overnight. Everyone telling him what’s best for him, giving their opinion’s possibility for their own benefit (I said possibly). He was just a normal guy then overnight has a camera is his face quite often making content while trying to do his job. While FN raised a heck of a lot of money for him, I’m sure he’s graceful for, but for what price? Must he sell his soul to the devil? How much content does he owe FN? When you let Lisa get involved and received such a huge outpouring of support from the Frannie followers, you put yourself in the position of sharing a lot of personal info. The videos at the dentist, and progress updates, etc. You can say she was "controlling " but the support she generated for you doesn't happen without a lot of effort and constant communication out to the followers to continue the flow of support, because THEY feel involved in your progress. It's a very public process, as anyone knows who's been through any major ongoing fundraising project knows. So yes, you sacrifice some privacy, and since she's using HER following to assist YOU, she's going to be the one making the decisions and organizing things. She did it to help you. People donated because it was obvious she was trying to help you. You accepted that help. It's too late to try to suggest that you feeling overwhelmed about it all is somehow her fault or that she did something wrong. And lastly, you should have just spoken up about it sooner if you didn't want to deal with the public aspects of this. You are not handling it the right way. Do the right thing and thank her, and her followers for everything. And if you don't want to be in more videos, then don't. But don't blame Lisa.

After reading all the comments, it's clear that James should have voiced his concerns in an honest private discussion with Lisa early on - which likely would have resolved much of what had been upsetting James - but that didn't happen. While we don't know all the facts, it does look like Bonfire Banter has turned on Lisa given James' [deeply edited] sponsored video with the promise of 'more onion layers to peel,' & using words like 'saga,' 'stay tuned' & 'next episode' to wave the flames. Who of us had even heard of Bonfire Banter before Lisa introduced them to us? They certainly benefited from the #Frannienation calendar, charity events, exposure, etc.
And To James: Just a couple points you might consider in all this: If you felt uncomfortable with the direction things were going before, please slow down and realize those same demands of your time, etc., are awaiting you but with much greater intensity if Bonfire Banter (or any other mgmt. team) is driving the bus. That's what they do if they want to stay in the game. Is this something you really want and are willing to make the sacrifices to sustain? Also, it's odd that a new startup would publicly display such disloyalty on social media of Lisa's efforts to help grow & build their business, don't you think? Being so new, differing opinions and ideas are expected but this feels more like Bonfire Banter has drawn a line in the sand when instead they could have benefited from Lisa's obvious common sense and life experience. I totally agree with you. If Lisa really was controlling and infringing upon his life so much that it became annoying, he should’ve manned up and told her this is just too much. I'm not bashing AJ but I've always wondered: This 40/41 yr old man works a good job. How is it that he doesn't have $$ to repair his car or get a new one? Why hasn't he done the dental work? You know he has insurance through Amazon.
Maybe I've missed the posts that explain this, but I think these are valid questions. My husband and I work good jobs, too, and we could sure use some lovely, kind-hearted soul with a cute doggo to volunteer to make our life better for no money out of our pockets.

Insurance generally doesn’t cover cosmetic dental work. Just FWIW.
@@kdavis002 I didn't think it was cosmetic. If they're doing implants and such because he was in such bad oral condition, I can't imagine that was cosmetic. Maybe I missed a post about why it wasn't paid for by insurance.

Playing devils advocate most dental plans have a yearly maximum of up to $2500. That would cover maybe 2 crowns. And that's if the insurance is 100% coverage. Usually it's 80/20% which 20% of 2500 is still $500 and a lot of people don't have that sitting around. It could go to other things. It would take years to get that kinda work done. Amazon doesn't pay as great as you'd think.

My BF had the same procedure (full mouth implants) and James looks/sounds the same as he does. You have to pretty much learn how to speak all over again because of the big change in your dental situation.

So how did Lisa find out James was so bad off, because of his teeth or car? My teeth were real bad at one point in my life and I never told anyone. I didn't have a car for two years and didn't complain to anyone. I had a lot of teeth pulled (one at a time when they were "hot") and my co-workers gave me rides to work when they found out I was taking the bus. I paid it forward when I did buy a car. He must have told his sob story to her and she wanted to help. Why else would she go to so much trouble? She has a kind heart. If you didn't want all that attention James you should have said so. I think James is/was being pulled into many different directions, like becoming “famous” overnight. Everyone telling him what’s best for him, giving their opinion’s possibility for their own benefit (I said possibly). He was just a normal guy then overnight has a camera is his face quite often making content while trying to do his job. While FN raised a heck of a lot of money for him, I’m sure he’s graceful for, but for what price? Must he sell his soul to the devil? How much content does he owe FN? What does Amazon think about him being followed around even after they’ve moved his route and getting phone calls about moving his route? We don’t know and most likely won’t know what the exchange was between he & Lisa and quite frankly it’s no one’s business. As a donor you may think it is, but it’s not, you chose to donate, no one forced you to as does everyone when they chose to make a donation. I honestly think it was too much pressure for his personal life to continue making content, feeling compelled to always be available for FN & now he’s in the hands of BB which is just to boost views and grow their brand.
