That's the Couerl Server 4 you. Especially the tanks. Trust me as a sprout myself still relatively new to the game, they are like this (Not all of them tho but a considerable amount)... especially Warriors. Which is why I decided to become a Warrior myself and learn it. And to help those in new to the game as as I have.

Honestly, if I were that tank...
I'd probably just shrug, go "Huh, the DPS is a little overeager", and then continue to tank properly.
And then I'd be sure to sprint ahead so that they couldn't be as eager.
Unless my sprint is off cooldown, but hey, if you can survive, that's fine by me. If you died because of that, oh well, you get raised, and we move on.
I've been playing this game long enough to know that "hard lessons" don't actually teach anything other than the "teacher" is a spiteful jerk.
We're here to play the content. Let's play the content.

You pull you tank mentality has always been silly to me in this game. I’ve dealt with it in my fair share, haven’t seen any in 6.x but it was pretty bad at the end of shadowbringers.
If someone’s moving fast enough to be ahead of you and as the tank you’re supposed to be ahead and leading the party, I get if you’re a sprout then usually play at your pace and take in the area but other people are waiting on you to do you role.
I had a moment where I pre casted as a black mage on a boss as they ran up to it then they sheathed thier weapon and stood there as I tanked coincounter for 6 minutes. Healer and I were so over it the instant it was happening.
They typed “learn your lesson?” And healer said, “that you’re griefing?” And promptly vote kicked him after rolling on the loot.
It takes nothing to unga ahead of the party and charge axe first into a pile of mobs. It takes more effort to argue with 1-3 other people about how your view is right when it isn’t.
Recently got some of your vids on my recommended, so congrats on that, I like your editing though some of your sections for the chat is a little fast to read that I have to pause or rewind the video ^.^ hopefully you meet less like them though, may your queues be quick

Well i'm happy to report though i've played naught but a month in total this past month from 0-90 as a paladin i've successfully encountered no toxicity despite never once engaging in actual chat with other players. instead i've communicated solely through emotes and its sufficed to get us through extremes up to 80's. I'd reckon i'd be farther up the list of trials and such but making my way through expansions and the expansions... expansions? is taking longer then it took to reach max level for each.
It turns out even if you only do blue quests and MSQ along with the raids for each tier and such its more then adequate to get you to max level. as a matter of fact. I've been max level for near all of shadowbringers. But i don't know what class to do next so i'm kinda spinning right meow.

most people are chill with tanks as long as you're keeping pace- if the rest of your party signals to pull more, then there's no reason not to. imo, give warrior a shot and you'll never have to rely on a healer ever again. if you want play something with more depth you can try one of the melee dps classes. reaper is very fun and hasn't had the time to be streamlined yet

the only issue i could see, since there's a sprout doing their first run, would be if you were pulling multiple groups of monsters which caused the dungeon to be cleared wall to wall. you clearly were not doing that and was just quicker getting to the NEXT group of enemies faster than the tank. plenty of time for the sprout to still look around and admire the dungeon imo

I apologize on behalf of the people of Coeurl, I think I've only ever seen one YPYT in my two years of playing and I just cannot for the life of me understand the mentality as anything other than a pathetic power-grab attempt.
As a tank/melee main, I encourage you by all means to try and race me to the next set of mobs. If you manage to beat me there and have the courtesy to pop mitigation, you'd guarantee a com from me at least lmao.

personally i think it's more of these tanks coming from other MMOs and failing to adjust. WoW for instance has more nuanced aggro management and if someone YPYTs in that game, it's likely because the tank simply didn't have the tools to help in that situation.
then again, even with WoW's funky aggro mechanics it was STILL preferable to have DPS pull in many situations so idk. 90% of the time i just opt to tank dungeons myself and save people the trouble. everyone loves a 15 minute dungeon.

I had this happen a couple days ago, I'm a WHM and generally get tanks who sprint into action blasting enemies and doing their job, but that day the tank decided to take an hour per mob pull.
So being a competent healer I started pulling an extra group to show we can do more since he's tanking well and I know my limits as the healer. (Plus I just didn't wanna run a single dungeon for the enitre alotted DF timer).
He didn't take kindly to that but seeing as it was only levelling queue I ignored it and kept pulling, so he let me get flattened by the boss and then proceeded to vote kick me.

I almost did this to a healer who ran ahead of me almost every time I was in a group and immediately pulled the next group, I almost did it for the boss but I couldn’t because that would be stupid, it’s just throughout my experience as a dps people kept telling me the tank does everything first and is the most important

    • @NodeHF
      @NodeHF  Рік тому +4

Those people are wrong, period. I've mained tank for a very long time, and i can say without a doubt that it doesn't matter who pulls what, especially when aggro management is so easy in this game. The success of a pull is more a combination of the DPS pulling their weight and the healer not running out of resources. A tank makes this easier, but if they refuse to handle aggro over petty reasons like the healer pulling for them, they're functionally useless- you'd benefit more with a third DPS.

@@NodeHFok so it’s been a year yeah and I’ve learned this lesson, and after getting all the tanks up to max I honestly don’t really care if they pull early or anything I feel like I was being kind of jerk when it came to pulls now honestly I don’t care if they pull early or not because it doesn’t really matter it’s just like a second away from me getting aggro it is super fun to tank though

Dude, why did you pull instead of the tank? I don’t get it. Pulling as a dps is usually seen as a breach of etiquette lol. If I was tanking, I’d be pissed too, even in low level content.

    • @NodeHF

He wasn't that far behind and managing aggro is trivial in this game, only requiring one GCD to take back aggro while tank stance is active. Tank is my most played role by far and I really couldn't care less who pulls- and that's the sentiment most of this game's community has in my experience. This guy is an outlier.
It wasn't always this way, but it is certainly the situation now since the release of Shadowbringers, and what you consider "etiquette" has changed to follow suit.

My thoughts as well. Unless the tank refuses to lead the party properly, a dps shouldn't be pulling.

@@ttabood7462 dps players have Arms' Length, Second Wind, and Bloodbath for a reason, my dude. All of the roles have some level of overlap which should absolutely be taken advantage of when possible to make everyone's playtime go smoother. Imagine how long content would take if _only_ the dps did damage, for instance.

What do you even gain, from face pulling as a dps? There's no uptime to it if you die, nor is it worth aiming for uptime in a dungeon.
