    when I was a kid I remember going to see 'Tim Allens Santa Claus there' way back in 1994, all the families of the staff and players of Nottingham Forest club were there, it was nice seeing pictures of the insides again, I had almost forgotten what it looked like, thank you for making the video

    Hats off to you for this amazing documentary, it's really painful to see a cinema being ripped down, all our memories are the only thing we are left with. Thank you.

    so many fond memories of this cinema and the ABC.
    Showcase was too out the way, but it's my go to now as I can drive and I love their seats.

    Breaks my heart to see this. The Odeon in Nottingham was where I got the movie bug as a kid. I've worked in the film industry since the 90s. I moved to London, had no idea this was happening until it was gone. Wish I'd been able to get some kind of souvenir before it closed. Makes me sad.

      Yes. Very sad. I saw my first ever cinema experience here in Odeon one with Rocky 4 in '85 went most weeks after. First job was here also between 97 & 2000. Glad you liked it mate. I'm planning on an update actually since getting better equipment. This one was done on windows movie maker.

    Incredibly eerie. With the creepy ambient music, found footage/horror film vibe--I was half expecting a ghost (or at least a homeless person) to pop up out of nowhere.
    Joking aside, and a more serious note. It's such a shame the cinema had to be closed down in the first place. I had/have fond memories of seeing films there (especially screen 1), as well as the ABC, in my younger years. Thank you for uploading this.
    I often had dreams of winning the lotto, becoming a billionaire and restoring it to its former glory.

      ***** Thanks Michael, Yeh it was a crying shame. I too have great memories of this place as a kid. I also got my first job there so I had to get in to document it before it was lost forever. Sad that no footage was ever captured whilst it was still running but the managers would never allow it even at the last ever showing. Glad you enjoyed the video.

      +LIAM BRENNAN Did you smash up any stuff when you were in there?

    • @maxvideoentertainment8706

      +heelfan1234 No. There's nothing worse than getting into a great abandoned location only to find a smashed up/ graffitied interior.

      ***** I think it adds to the atmosphere seeing it more smashed up each time you go.

    At 9:20 secon there is mention of Screen 6 and the Carolin night spot. That may have been the case when it was the Ritz, but in my day, there were 2 main screens and the Carola was a restaurant which later became Odeon 3, an arthouse screen showing arthouse movies.

    I have done memories of this cinema as a kid. The place.was so much nicer than that cornerhouse monstrosity we've got now. The first film I was here was "Matilda" in 1996 I think.

    I’ve lived in Nottingham my whole life and never actually knew there was once a cinema on angel row 😳

    • @maxvideoentertainment8706
      @maxvideoentertainment8706  4 роки тому

      You must be very young then. There was actually two cinemas on Angel Row! The Odeon and The ABC or Cannon as I remember it in the 80's early 90's. The Odeon is where Taco Bell is now and reached back as far as Maid Marion Way. The Cannon / ABC was where Fat Cats is now or was.
