Tomb Raider and Uncharted have a fascinating relationship. Uncharted was heavily influenced by the Tomb Raider games of the Legend timeline, but the Tomb Raider games of the Survivor timeline were influenced by Uncharted in return. It's like one big circle of inspiration.
I really wish they'd keep this trash game to xbox! Uncharted 4 improved a lot from its predecessors and did gave justice to platforming indiana jone style. Uncharted 4 is even more like Tomb Raider than Rise of the Trash Raider.
Uncharted 4 cutscenes r not pre rendered, they happen in real time. Only once or twice is it ever pre rendered, which is when Nate is sleeping inside the prison cell at the beginning and when there’s a shot of their hotel in Madagascar. Every other shot is in real time, coz in the real time cutscenes, u can adjust field view, filters and u can take characters off the screen. This can all be done from photo mode, so that’s a confirmation of in-engine cutscenes. The only reason it looks much better is due to the lighting quality increase in cutscenes. The character models r the same. Rise of the Tomb Raider, however, seems like it is pre rendered, since the resolution output is changed physically speaking from whatever resolution it’s on, to 900p. Also, the reason so much stuff in Uncharted 4 looks so realistic is coz it’s mainly photo scanned for textures and animations. The fire isn’t particle effects, it’s actually a scan of fire and has just been duplicated with a recycled animation.
For those who don't know, while working at Crystal Dynamics, after finishing the Legacy of Kain trilogy Amy Hennig wanted to make a Tomb Raider game but was denied by the executives, she left the company and then joined Naughty Dog and the rest is history.
Then she got fired. 😢 I loved her take on Uncharted before Neil Druckmann pushed her out. Ironically pushing out a woman to go full woke with The Last of Us 2.
But then Uncharted stuck at 30fps on ps4 pro... On One X tomb raider runs like God both in 4k with enriched graphics and quite fluid, or 1080 60fps locked. 60.
You didn't show it, but uncharted also has an amount of indirect bounce lighting when you shine the flashlight near a corner. Don't know if Tomb Raider does that.
For me it's uncharted 4. I'm also playing ROTR and I'm loving that game as well but Uncharted 4 is just on anothrr level with the cinematics and environment.

Oh there absolutely are lol. Quite a few actually. The cutscenes between level transitions are not running off the engine, they're video files. And Naughty Dog splices pre-rendered bits throughout gameplay to help make the game feel more cinematic, and it works surprisingly well.
Nick930 there called triggered events, and they all happen in real time! cutcenes are pre recorded in nature, not in real time. they cut, and play a prerecorded cene. you should check digital foundry videos you can learn a lot from them. as for me im avoiding this channel like the plague because you seem to have a bias against sony, and its exclusives. ps: i play in all platforms Microsoft, Nintendo, sony, and pc! and thats how i can tell when you release some miss information here, and there! but so much more againts sony.
I don't know about Uncharted 4, but I'm fairly sure the cutscenes in TLOU were in game, using a higher res Joel/other characters face. Or at the very least they're in the game files you can find if you poke about. I wouldn't doubt ND doing it either way, as they both work just fine.
I finished TROTR and felt nothing, no emotion no connection to Lara whereas with Uncharted I got so invested in the story and full of emotion. It's clear that Uncharted 4 is above and beyond TROTR.

Everyone seems to forget Shadow of the tomb raider. That one scene where Lara is getting out of the water and there's fire all around her is a masterpiece!

But when it comes to graphics, uncharted is the BEST GAME, not only in comparison with Tomb Raider, but in comparison with ANY other game!

I played both. I think uncharted is superior. But I like Tomb Raider, in fact, I like it so much that I would love it to have a crossover with Uncharted. Nathan Drake meets Lara Croft. But that's just my opinion.

Loved both of the games. I've had more fun with Uncharted tho because the characters actualy felt real and interesting. I literaly don't remember any characters from ROTR except Lara,and Vladimir?The combat in Uncharted is great and crisp while in rise it is incredibly buggy and Weird. The story of rise is really intriguing but you just can't best Naughty Dog at storytelling.

Honestly, im mad that they had to redesign Lara character model again. When Rise released, i had to ask if this is still in the same universe as the first game. Drake looks more mature in Uncharted 4 while Lara looks like she has be recast every game.
The jumping in Rottr look really bad to me i havent played it but each jump looks so scripted when she is landing and she gets pushed extra far when there is a jump that dhe wouldnt realistically be able to make
*Please* read if you are a Tomb Raider fan and played since *Tomb Raider I* Tomb Raider is so underrated these day because of all these other game. Tomb Raider (1996) was the *FIRST* game where you could run, walk, swim, jump, shimmy, shoot, roll, dash, duck and many more. It was amazing until all these other game came out like resident evil (I still personally love that game) All these games would be *nothing* without Tomb Raider and we wouldn’t have the PS2, PS3, PS4 and soon to come PS5. That game made PlayStation sales go up. And I have seen many comments in this video saying ‘Nathan Drake is more realistic’. Games don’t have to be realistic. Games are a way to bring out your inner self in your *own* world (sorry that didn’t make sense but you get what I’m saying). Tomb Raider is the first 3D game. Also Uncharted came out in 2007 when games were getting realistic. So of course Uncharted would have better graphics but Tomb Raider will always have better gameplay. She is a girl that lives with consequences.

I considered doing so, but it's redundant. Lost Legacy is designed using identical technology as Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy. So we'd be comparing the same assets. The only difference would be the protagonist would obviously be Chloe instead of Nathan

Funny how you did not compare the biggest visual difference of the two games, namely vegetation and foliage. As a fan of Tomb Raider, I must admit that the vegetation and foliage of Uncharted is extremely impressive, where as Tomb Raider definitely lacks in this regard.

We all can agree that gameplay matters more than the graphics. It's the kind of experience a game provides that you are looking for. Spectacular graphics is the cherry on top. In that regard, Uncharted 4 knocks TR out of the park any time of day.
I LOVE tomb raider. But what I like most about Uncharted is just how epic everything feels. When towers or structures are collapsing, you feel like you’re in danger. It’s so breathtaking and suspenseful, and it’s honestly amazing

I think it should have be noted that Uncharted 4 came out a year after Rise of the Tomb Raider and because technology is always evolving, a year makes a difference.
It makes little to no difference. They are different studios and a year won't change anything when both titles are already in full development. The final year is mostly mass production and marketing.

Rise began production in early 2013 before its fall 2015 release - meaning it was using 2013 technology when it was released, therefore by technological standards it was outdated upon release for new developers were already using next gen hardware. More so, Uncharted 4 had been in development since 2011 but hit a snag in 2014 before resuming production. So, not only did the developers have more time to refine and perfect their craft, they were also able to use next gen hardware and also did not have to worry about making their product compatible with different platforms.
I’m a huge fan of TR and yet I find Uncharted really impressive in graphics, however in terms of story I’ve always preferred more TR, but because I’m a cultural history nerd.

The Tomb Raider Reboot certainly copied Uncharted, turned it into more a survival, combat game. Yes Tomb Raider did start to go more that route before the Reboot with more enemies but nothing on the scale of killing like after the in Tomb Raider Reboot. Shadow of The Tomb Raider from what I've played seems to have nailed it so far, best version they have done yet.
I'm pretty sure the xbox one x runs rise with a BTAO or HBAO+ But in shadow of the tomb raider all consoles use the same settings for graphics, same shadows, lvl of detail, textures etc, it's just resolution. In Tomb Raider definitive edition I believe they're all running at 1080p I didn't hear of a patch for the pro and x and they all looked better than PC there, xbox one fell around the high preset in rise, ps4 had high with some things on very high but I'm only sure about the texture quality. Ps4 pro used the same settings as base ps4 but on it's enriched visual mode it reached the PC's maximum, although ps4 and xbox one were almost there. Meanwhile xbox one x went ahead even of the PC's highest setting and had some improvements in ingame assets Texture quality etc, and they all looked pretty much the same in the last game.(except resolution)

Loved both of the games. I've had more fun with Uncharted tho because the characters actualy felt real and interesting. I literaly don't remember any characters from ROTR except Lara,and Vladimir?The combat in Uncharted is great and crisp while in rise it is incredibly buggy and Weird. The story of rise is really intriguing but you just can't best Naughty Dog at storytelling.

Honestly, im mad that they had to redesign Lara character model again. When Rise released, i had to ask if this is still in the same universe as the first game. Drake looks more mature in Uncharted 4 while Lara looks like she has be recast every game.

The jumping in Rottr look really bad to me i havent played it but each jump looks so scripted when she is landing and she gets pushed extra far when there is a jump that dhe wouldnt realistically be able to make

Tomb Raider is so underrated these day because of all these other game. Tomb Raider (1996) was the *FIRST* game where you could run, walk, swim, jump, shimmy, shoot, roll, dash, duck and many more. It was amazing until all these other game came out like resident evil (I still personally love that game) All these games would be *nothing* without Tomb Raider and we wouldn’t have the PS2, PS3, PS4 and soon to come PS5. That game made PlayStation sales go up. And I have seen many comments in this video saying ‘Nathan Drake is more realistic’. Games don’t have to be realistic. Games are a way to bring out your inner self in your *own* world (sorry that didn’t make sense but you get what I’m saying). Tomb Raider is the first 3D game. Also Uncharted came out in 2007 when games were getting realistic. So of course Uncharted would have better graphics but Tomb Raider will always have better gameplay. She is a girl that lives with consequences.

Well if I recall tomb raider was released in 2015 and uncharted 2016 if I’m correct that’s. a years difference in development and gave naughty dog time to perfect there game more but both games look stunning like tomb raider underwater look blurry uncharted you can see quiet well I’m not going into detail but they are both great games with a lot of similarities I just wish everyone could be like you when comparing a game and not completely ass one and not make a fair fight

We all can agree that gameplay matters more than the graphics. It's the kind of experience a game provides that you are looking for. Spectacular graphics is the cherry on top. In that regard, Uncharted 4 knocks TR out of the park any time of day.

I LOVE tomb raider. But what I like most about Uncharted is just how epic everything feels. When towers or structures are collapsing, you feel like you’re in danger. It’s so breathtaking and suspenseful, and it’s honestly amazing

I think it should have be noted that Uncharted 4 came out a year after Rise of the Tomb Raider and because technology is always evolving, a year makes a difference.
It makes little to no difference. They are different studios and a year won't change anything when both titles are already in full development. The final year is mostly mass production and marketing.

As someone who works with technology and is technically certified (I will happily email you my résumé) a year difference can make all the difference in refinement regardless of how minuscule. Rise began production in early 2013 before its fall 2015 release - meaning it was using 2013 technology when it was released, therefore by technological standards it was outdated upon release for new developers were already using next gen hardware.
More so, Uncharted 4 had been in development since 2011 but hit a snag in 2014 before resuming production. So, not only did the developers have more time to refine and perfect their craft, they were also able to use next gen hardware and also did not have to worry about making their product compatible with different platforms.
I’m a huge fan of TR and yet I find Uncharted really impressive in graphics, however in terms of story I’ve always preferred more TR, but because I’m a cultural history nerd.

also HZD is a mess on pc because of bad porting and it was upscaled from shitty inferior ps4 graphics. the game was upscaled to 4k with 16:9 aspect ratio and unlocked fps boost. its not even a nice comparison because HZD was ported in 2020 .according to 2020 standards, lol and SOTTR still looks better than that.

The Tomb Raider Reboot certainly copied Uncharted, turned it into more a survival, combat game. Yes Tomb Raider did start to go more that route before the Reboot with more enemies but nothing on the scale of killing like after the in Tomb Raider Reboot. Shadow of The Tomb Raider from what I've played seems to have nailed it so far, best version they have done yet.
I'm pretty sure the xbox one x runs rise with a BTAO or HBAO+ But in shadow of the tomb raider all consoles use the same settings for graphics, same shadows, lvl of detail, textures etc, it's just resolution. In Tomb Raider definitive edition I believe they're all running at 1080p I didn't hear of a patch for the pro and x and they all looked better than PC there, xbox one fell around the high preset in rise, ps4 had high with some things on very high but I'm only sure about the texture quality. Ps4 pro used the same settings as base ps4 but on it's enriched visual mode it reached the PC's maximum, although ps4 and xbox one were almost there. Meanwhile xbox one x went ahead even of the PC's highest setting and had some improvements in ingame assets Texture quality etc, and they all looked pretty much the same in the last game.(except resolution)
