Definitely some inspiration haha, YPC's style does sound a bit like a mixture between Hisaishi's and Tchaikovsky's (though Hisaishi was probably also inspired by the latter)
As a 20 year old composer hoping to have a career in Music Composition, Yu-Peng Chen's influence on my music and my approach to composition has been unbelievable! Eversince I first discovered his music through Genshin Impact's OST, I realized that this is the type of music I want to one day be able to write and perform. That's so cool! Can you give examples of the songs he made that inspired you the most? I study music, not exactly composition in depth but a little bit, but I was always enchanted by YPC's music too and I absolutely love the way he wrote his music. He can take the simplest place in the game and make such an impactful song for it, or the simplest idea but write it so elegantly!! Really. The first song that really hit me was that one from Stormterror's Lair, then the piano one from Dragonspine, then several other songs from all over the game, getting INCREASINGLY better, omg. The songs from Mondstadt feel so lonely and reflective and sometimes so nostalgic (thinking of Dawn Winery or that flute one that plays around Mondstadt, that I love), the ones from Liyue feel so full of peace and gratefulness for life and nature, the ones from Inazuma feel so freaking beautiful and heartbreaking, making the atmosphere SO freaking immersive, and the ones from Sumeru just completely stole my heart. Sumeru was the peak OST time in Genshin for me 100%, getting weaker immediately after he left the game 😅 but Fontaine is also quite nice, I'm happy with it too. But anyway, I love to talk about his music so no amount of detail is too much for me if you'd like to share. Random reference (as in, it's not the most impressive song he has) but I can't forget the first time I heard that little piano lullaby that plays in Sumeru City, there's only this piano version and a glokenspiel (or something like that) version, and I was just impressed by how elegantly written it sounded, especially in a part when the melody goes up as if it will continue to go up to resolve, but then it doesn't, the melody goes down then back where it was, making a beautiful minor 7th interval, and then the whole song kind of stops to breathe at that moment, only to get back with the left hand first (on the piano) and the right hand catches up. That was so good. Anyway I just really freaking adore almost all of the Sumeru tracks. Maybe those and the Inazuma ones might be my favorites in general. Also Mondstadt and Liyue too lol Can you share some examples of what impressed you or taught you something?
If you love Yu Peng's style, I heavily recommend listening to some Korean soundtracks (not Kpop or anything, but actual drama soundtracks ect). My favorite aspect of Mr. Chen's orchestral compositions is the usage of different instrumental voices. Every instrument group gets their moment to shine in the song--one moment, it's the strings, another moment, the woodwinds, then percussion, then brass, and so on. Whenever there is a solo part that multiple instruments play, their voices compliment each other. No one instrument hogs all the glory and attention for the entire duration of the song. Say you are outside a castle, a mysterious castle you never known to exist before. It is midnight, the moon is beaming light directly to castle even if it is surrounded by thick fog. The fog lessens as you approach the entrance. You are now at the entrance, the atmosphere compels you to dance. The moon provides the light you will ever need in the castle. You explore the castle while dancing, going in circles. You reminisce a familiar experience so you dance. As you reminisce some unpleasant memories beams through you. The lies? Or is it confusion? No, you remember you are alone. So, what will you do? You dance. Dance, as you own the place. Dance, as you are free. Roam, roam in circles. But who are you? It does not matter. What matters is you dance the night away.

What a time to be alive. Yu-peng Chen's work with Genshin exposed such musical compositions to the mainstream amd younger audience. Thank you for spreading this century-old compositional techniques with your sense of modernity to the world and wider audience. Greetings from The Philippines!

God, I can not get enough of Yupeng Chen's piano playing! Other than that, I hear mystical and magical themes, romance and then, that boom! There's drama. I'm envisioning a ballroom full of people, and while they may be dancing in a magical ballroom with grandiose chandeliers and rich, marble halls, there is a lot more in the main characters that appears happy and calm... as if they are playing in am innocent, playful facade with their dance partner. Roleplay or not, there is a certain theme that makes it seem playful and deceitful at the same time, so that's what I kind of envisioned. Really amazing work.
it would have been great, but Fontaine's music is still very great even without him, Mihoyo still has great talents for music composition in their shelves
Fontaine's music is great but Yu-Peng is truly unique in his skill and method of composition. His work is simply on another level and you can feel his departure in Genshin's soundtrack.

Already purchased the album! It’s euphonious and truly brings a “fantasyland/journey” vibe! Grateful for Yu-Peng Chen’s effort of making this masterpiece.
My biggest wish is just to see YPC coming back to Genshin one more time. Even if it means only composing a couple of pieces. Even though Genshin/Hoyo has been putting nothing but masterpieces even without YPC. It just doesn’t feel the same without him.
Frankly, after listening to these two pieces, I feel even more strongly that Yupeng Chen's departure from Genshin was hasty and sudden. Usually for composers like him, their works are not always so specific, so graphic, so 'programmatic'. Sometimes there are more 'abstract' pieces. I think Yupeng Chen must have had a lot of ideas and material in his head (or sketchbook) when he left Genshin in a hurry. These materials may have been for future use in the game. After he left, Yupeng reorganised and developed them into the pieces in this album. So it makes sense if some people think that this music is a bit like 'Parallel Fontaine' or 'Parallel Natlan'. Whatever happened back then, I wish Yupeng all the best on his new journey. And may he discover more beauty along the way.
Truthfully i do share the same thoughts with you. The decision might have taken place far back around the release of sumeru (as he gradually “handed over” the composition work to the rest of hym team for desert soundtrack onwards). But for some reason i feel like he didn’t expect to have to leave so soon. Maybe this was the skeleton he had during the overall 7 nations of teyvat’s world building at the beginning of genshin’s creation process. I dont know what happened between the internals but there must be a good reason why he chose to step back. He seemed to be extremely passionate about his work for the game as well so letting go something that cost him enormous time energy and passion should not be as easy😢
Listening to this was a joy! Thank you for creating such an enchanting masterpiece! The entire album is filled with gems, and I'm sure I'll be revisiting it many times. ❤️

I’m actually so obsessed with this piece. The change towards the end, the solos, my goooooshhhhh.
I’ve been watching this everyday since release
The man, the myth, the legend.
Sure, I've seen the likes of Warner Classics and other labels but they were never mainstream.
This channel in comparison seems independent hence very grounded with its vision and more in-touch, so to speak, with the listeners.
Thank you for spreading this century-old compositional techniques with your sense of modernity to the world and wider audience.
Greetings from The Philippines!
YPC is godlike but I just want to give a shout out to the wonderful musicians who poured in so much emotions into the piece too!! The solos segment were so magical. Thank you for working together and bringing us such a masterpiece :') please collaborate more
God, I can not get enough of Yupeng Chen's piano playing!
Really amazing work.
so cool....
Eh (!), you're here too!!
The era of great music is coming back 🥹
I never knew i liked classical music until i heard this guy music, absolutly beautiful
never think about it before, but YpC's music pieces torched me and my heart in such unimaginable ways

I'm just listening to these new tracks imagining that this is what he would have done for Fontaine
YESS i think he helped a little bit in the beginning of production
it would have been great, but Fontaine's music is still very great even without him, Mihoyo still has great talents for music composition in their shelves
Fontaine's music is great but Yu-Peng is truly unique in his skill and method of composition. His work is simply on another level and you can feel his departure in Genshin's soundtrack.
@@ephixelyeah -- there's no denying the music in genshin, specifically Fontaine, is still really good, however I'm just gonna miss the classic Yu peng chen style and twist to it -- but I do wish him well in his future endeavors because I really wanna support him -- just knowing that Genshin's music won't have that vibe moving forward does make me a little sad I have to admit
This man is who I aspire to be
His music evokes emotions and takes us on a journey, it's incredible!
This was Fontaine to be, glad to hear original version too.
Imagine if this was played during the Foçalor execution dance scene 🥹🥹
What a gorgeous repertoire ♫ ♪ I agree with others in the comments that this feels like an extension of Fontaine's story 💙
we miss u yu-peng

we will follow your career with great interest
Yu-Peng Chen should be as famous as John Williams already! His music seems on par with them
he's truly a music archon. Just by listening his music, I can create the imagination in my head, can't you?

bro, this music is really full of many emotions, I can't explain them one by one, I can only say it's ABSOLUTE MAJESTY🧎♂️
I will follow this man wherever he goes.
He is one of the most brilliant musicians of the 21st century
This perfectly shows the "Circle Dance of the Evernight Castle" 👏👏
I really want to fully immerse myself more in the world of ypc music. That's the happiest time for me.
You may not have the biggest fan base but I can say with a decent level of confidence that you have the most devoted fan base. To call your symphonies a jewel in the desert would be an understatement. I'm so thankful to be able to witness this.
Already purchased the album! It’s euphonious and truly brings a “fantasyland/journey” vibe! Grateful for Yu-Peng Chen’s effort of making this masterpiece.
Where did you get it? I want to have a physical copy in the future

I listened to this early in Bilibili, it's a beautiful and suspenseful soundtrack and I really like it.
My biggest wish is just to see YPC coming back to Genshin one more time. Even if it means only composing a couple of pieces. Even though Genshin/Hoyo has been putting nothing but masterpieces even without YPC. It just doesn’t feel the same without him.
Here to support master Yu-Pen Cheng.
I think so, Yu peng-chen told his fan club that he had a good cry the day he quit hoyomix, so he got the idea for Farewell my friend
We haven't seen Natlan yet right?
Simply extraordinary...
GOATED GOAT YPC!
Listening to this was a joy! Thank you for creating such an enchanting masterpiece! The entire album is filled with gems, and I'm sure I'll be revisiting it many times. ❤️

This feels like music for a fairytale adventure! I've been having a stressful day but listening to his made me relaxed, it's like being transported to a whimsical world!
yu peng chens music has never dissapoints me 🔥🔥🔥
Huh? So... it's always successfully disappointed you? I'm guessing you made a small mistake in your grammar and are not being snide.
@@spcraftsman2656 whoops
I love his ability to take one theme and continue spinning it so that it never gets boring.
Now I think to myself "How would the classical composers of the past view this piece"
YPC's music is always so whimsical and so emotional in the best ways. I love and adore his musical sound, that is extremely hard to find anywhere else these days.
To be honest, he's one of the few songwriters who I feel have made me cry just by listening to his music... It's fascinating💕
Sensational as always. Takes me back to Genshin.
