Classical music is defined by a time period and even if there are modern composer who write in "classic style", this is absolutly not the case here.
Yu-peng Chen makes use of the traditional orchestral formation with the adds of multiple exotic instrument depending on what he wants to convey wich is part of his own style.
As a matter of facts, he's a contemporary composer, but I do hope that his work will go on posterity and be studied for centuries !

@@arcaelum2022 when I said "classical" I meant it like when people say "this one is a classic", and yeah I am aware of the different time periods in the history of art.
In fact, my mom recently said: "If people remember something (a music genre, a composer) that existed in a previous time period, then it's a classic. Rock music appeared in the 1960s, and people still listen to it. To them, rock music is a classic".

I'm not trying to overly attach Yu-Peng Chen's new piece to Genshin Impact, nor do I want to discount the brilliant work that has been done by HOYO-MiX for Fontaine in particular.
All I can say, this piece can *very much* be one of the major theme for Fontaine, as I picture some scenes from Fontaine in my head.

It is supposed to be that way because composing took a very long time to produce. And not to mention how many osts they should compose just for a single region. I believe Yu-Peng leaves Genshin because he knows and believes that Hoyomix can move without his help any longer and he can finally make his own dreams come true.

The process for him leaving was started almost as soon as the game launched. All those people he brought onto HoyoMix are hand picked by him, to build a team that can replace him when he finally left.
He slowly started to hand off responsibility especially in the Sumeru OST. When he finally left it was because he knew with confidence that the quality of music will not go down due to his departure, and wasn’t that the truth.

I just listened this music from Spotify and tried to find something about new album from UA-cam.Finally the new album was born.that’s amazing. This piece is full of power and energy. I have to think about Piazzolla, but it’s different . I think Yu-Peng Chen loves Piazzolla too.Your music elements and styles are so much diversity.
And I must say when I heard Flourishing Lights Of The Snowmelt Realm I cried seriously due to you are a so great Chinese style musician.Your works moved me so much. I think since 迎春2017 I have loved your music ❤

This is beautiful🥹 I live in Buenos Aires, the heart of tango. On some streets dancers play for the crowd, some for money and some for passion… near the Atheneo Grand Splendid, you can even find on a spot a guide on the floor to learn it. Because of this I’ve grown listening to the tunes of passionate love, where words are not needed, only the dancers sharing intimacy through every step, as the music transports them and the viewer to a moment that doesn’t exist anywhere but everywhere, where your heart beats fast and you hear a story that doesn’t need to be told.
In this song I can feel the roughness, the lively emotions at times and full of secrecy at other moments… a passion in this melody that I’ve only felt listening to Piazzolla’s more lively tunes. I’m mesmerized. Congratulations on making this masterpiece!

While this is an awesome piece of music, saying genshin music post Yu-Peng Chen lacks complexity is absolutely idiotic, and also biased. Yu-Peng Chen is great, but was never the only Composer of the genshin OST. he barely worked on Sumeru, and it was mostly loved. Only afterwards we found out he had already left Mihoyo, after which people started getting confirmation bias. Sumeru, Fontaine and dont forget Chenyu vale, have some of the most "profound and complex" tracks in the whole game.
My comment is not to hate on Yu-Peng Chen. im just saying we should be grateful we get to enjoy both his and hoyomix's work now.
